Title: New in Phoenix.
Post by: TheRedPaper on 08 Jul 2005, 12:34
Anyone from the US around the Phoenix, AZ area who knows of a decent record shop or a fun place to listen to music? I posted a simmilar topic about 6 months ago when I moved to Dalton, GA but I moved again. The kind of music I like listening to are rock and rock/pop, but I can enjoy almost anything. Any tips will be great and are appreciated.

Sorry but I haven't been to Pheonix in years, however, a quick google search did yield a few bits.

Maybe a local could do better.

zia's
eastside records
stinkweeds

and depending on what kind of rock you listen to, i'm guessing maybe the mason jar to catch shows at?  (although that's the sort of place you'd see aging hair bands with american flag hammer pants)

tempe generally has the venues for the shows; when i lived there, it was uhh...nia's hideaway, the nile (boo hiss), bostons, the tempe bowl, and uhh....i think the electric ballroom, but that's closed now for sure.

they have some weekly free paper like a city pages type thing, and it lists the shows near the back.
