So. New site (http://www.last.fm). What do you think of it?
To those who don't know what I'm talking about, last.fm is a site that keeps track of songs you play on your computer and then does fancy things with them. Like recommending new stuff, and showing the people who listen to the same stuff and all sorts. It's cool, it's free, and there's a QC group (http://www.last.fm/group/Questionable%2BContent). We have 96 members, which is pretty good. Apparently we listen to a lot of Radiohead, The Postal Service and Green Day. It sure as hell ain't me listening to them, but that's the way it goes.
Currently we are having a revolution or some crap, because I accidentally set the group up with my friend's account a long time ago, and I've been trying to fix that ever since. This isn't nearly as exciting as it might sound, but there you go. If you are a member you can go and vote 'Help! I'm being opressed' if you want.
So, uh. Check it out.

Better, although the tag system is a bit of a joke, given that a good deal of people seem to be going round tagging random things with genres like 'punk', 'indie', 'metal' and 'dance' (Pink Floyd, for example, is apparently all of those things). Also, after a bit of high spirits in the forums, you can find Green Day by searching for things like 'death jazz', 'chinchillacore' and 'atmospheric arse rock'.

I didn't really see the old site, so dongs it is.
-
I prefer the name Audioscrobbler, but the site certainly looks better now.
And, you know... works.
-
It hasnt worked recently for me =\ I dont know, I really liked how simple Audioscrobbler.com looked. I guess I'm one of those people who doesnt like change? I'm not saying I hate Last.fm, as it doesnt look atrocious, but I did like the look of Audioscrobbler a bit better.
Ah well ^_^

I think I like the old one a bit more, but this one isn't bad, and like someone pointed out, works. I'll get used to it.
Dongs.

Someone just pointed this out to me.
Check out the team page:

Quick, before they fix it, I think it's an admin injoke.

Wooh 100th member yeah i realy don't feel that special.
And I just want you to know who ever out there is listening to beastie boys what are you thinking? You must really not like yourselves?
-
I'm slightly more concerned by all the people listening to Greenday. This might have something to do with the fact that the Beastie Boys are good. Or maybe it's just the fact that Greenday aren't. Either way, I can't really complain about most of our top bands, they're all pretty good. It's just a bit of a bummer that nothing I listen to ever makes it on there.
In other news:
THE HOF!

Just be glad they don't still have the old way of calculating the charts (Has roughly 48,000 played tracks)
-
I think I prefer this one. Whilst it's not overwhelmingly better, infact too much detail is probably a bad thing, it's just so damned pretty.
-
I like the radio stations

This site seems to load slower than the last site. I didn't think that was possible. And also, I don't like the navigation of it all. And I can't seem to find the "Top songs for last week" (or whatever it was called).
-
Honestly. Speed first. Who cares if it kinda looks prettier? I still have something against the color scheme though, they need to have the text pop out more or something.
-
Is it me or did the old site let you add a 'neighbour' manually, whereas now you have to call someone a 'friend' if you want to sort-of bookmark them? Has the side effect of making you seem a bit like a stalker!
On the subject of which, I see from Jeph's new tutorial on his process for creation of the comic that he's an audioscrobbler too. Is he a member of the QC group on last.fm/audioscrobbler and does anyone know his screen name on there?
Not that I'm stalking or anything ;)
-
Putting the dong option in there is just asking for trouble.
-
Jeph's Last.FM account is linked at the top of the recommended listening page on the main QC site if I remember rightly.
-
Ta muchly. I'll remember to look in the obvious place next time.
-
I didn't even know that this thing existed. Thanks for pointing it out!
-
Yeah, it's great. Like flickr for the ears. Especially if you live in a country where you can get uncapped broadband deals.
Unlike New Zealand, where you have to pay through the nose for a 2Mb connection that only lets you have 10 gig of data (up and downloaded) each month...

Better, fo sho! I like the tagsystem, and that the artists get profiles. With images, albums, journals, and stuff like that. It is fun.
