..but I will.
Tomorrow I'm attending Warped Tour. In noho.
I'm actually looking forward to beating the shit out of bad music fans, seeing as there's nothing much worth seeing.
You see, I found out DEP was not coming after I bought my ticket.
Anyone know of anything half decent on the tour I might not know of yet? A lot of the bands I tried to check out, but many I couldn't.
-
I think...
The (International) Noise Conspiracy
Gogol Bordello
Dillinger Escape Plan
...are all playing legs of the tour, I think, but probably none of them are playing where you're seeing them.
Enjoy your emo and shitty pop punk.
-
Dude.
Dillinger Escape Plan are shit-awful live. You're not missing anything. The only thing more shit-awful than DEP live, is DEP fans when DEP are playing live.
Especially when said DEP fans, supposedly fans of avant-garde, jazz based hardcore music, are actually having the balls to stand there, during a blistering live performance by Ephel Duath, and shout 'DUDE PLAY SOMETHING HARD AND FAST WE CAN MOSH TO ZOMG*'
Anyway, I don't even have any idea who's on this hew-mon warp tour.
I'm just saying. DEP. No.
*Verbatim, apart from the ZOMG
-
DEP almost didn't entirely suck (but they still did) when Mike Patton fronted them.
-
Oi. Rough crowd. Perhaps good they didn't come then?
I have to report, though, that the entire music portion of the day sucked horribly. Go figure, right?
Though, I was impressed with Bleeding Through. Still not good enough to listen to, but they were better than I expected. Plus their "Wall of Death" bit was horribly fun :)
Oh, and Atreyu covered Bon Jovi (which song I can't remember), and while I dislike both bands, their cover was more enjoyabled than the original for me.
-
go to warped tours site and click on the town/date you're going to and they have all the bands that are coming to that particular venue by stage. Theres nothing wrong with warped. I almost went last yr, but ended up being busy. This yr i couldve gone but lacked the funds. Also, this yrs line up kinda sucked (except DKM and i actually heard Offspring was pretty damn good). But oh well. Its still a good time.
-
I'd consider going to WT, but the ratio of bands I like to bands I dislike is far too low to convince me. Naturally, I know some people that are all OMG WARPED TORU IS TEH ROK HOW CAN YOU NOT LIEK GOOD CHARLOTTE and so forth. Actually, there's only one person like that that I know of, and I don't like her anyway, so bleh. (No, it's not Maui :-))
-
Damn straight its not Maui!!!
Good Charlotte=the devil, heh. Their lead singer is dating Hilary Duff too, so they have TWO strikes against them right away lol.
-
While we're at it, here's an ancient quote that still makes me chuckle.
Wannabees! The members of Good Charlotte have somehow mixed their DNA with a hive of bees!
-
Well the tour was okies. Most of the bands sucked, but its about beating the shit out of your fellow man, and then throwing mud at him.
-

I suspect 'You Give Love a Bad Name'. That's what they played when I saw them, as did Minus, making it a tie of 'song I have seen covered live the most', next to Master of Puppets (Trivium did a version of it that by far outstripped every other song they played)
-
throwing mud at him.
Yay for mud! hehe. i may/may not have mud slided before. When warped came to buffalo, the weather was insane, super windy and raining, i guess it was pretty damn muddy then too.

Mud is great

I especially love the satisfying 'plop' that is audible when the handful of mud you just lobbed at a fan of bad music twats said fan in the face.

Oh yeah. Towards the end I was engrossed in the giant mudfight, but I made time to throw quite a bit of mud into the MCR fanbase, as they were the last show in the big stage(s).

Thats the one.

Dude, who didn't throw mud at the MCR fans? Nothing is more fun than staining a fresh Hot Topic MCR shirt while listening to Helena live. And what the hell was with the Bleeding Through pit? Before it got organized into the "Wall of Death" it was just people windmilling and elbowing me in the face.

i saw atreyu at ozzfest, and it was pretty fucking fun. best show of that day though? fucking Otep. that girl has a set of pipes on her, plus she's hot as hell. i forget who did it, but there was a wall of death that day too.
-
eh, i sacrificed (if you can call it that) my admittance to WT 2005 for my bro and his girlfriend, since traffic sucked and I was gonna miss NUFAN anyways. There were a few other bands I wanted to check out, but after realizing that No Use was playing in fifteen minutes and I was more than an hour away from parking, I decided it would be a better effort to drive to Salzers, pick up their new CD, and hit on the chick who sells piercings and bongs- err i mean waterpipes.
Wasnt that bad of a day, though, I'm 90% sure I had a better time sitting at home reading than I would have had listening to bands i didnt really like all that much and running into every ex girlfriend I have in the county (all three! god that sounds pathetic.)
-
The one thing that nobody wants to admit to is that they were the inspiration for Chuck Palanhiuk's short story, "Guts."

I have some friends in a ska band who have been covering "you give love a bad name" for at least 5 years now. I think it was actually on a comp of ska bands covering metal songs. They also do "Paranoid," "Freebird," "Seek and Destroy," "Ace of Spades," and a few other hard rock/metal songs.
-
gratitude are a good band on the current warped tour ... their singer is jonah matranga, which is usually a good sign

Any of them ever heard/of Eläkeläiset? Classic finnish act that covers mainly hard rock and metal songs (Breaking the Law, Enter Sandman, The Final Countdown, Jesus Built my Hotrod, Enter Sandman) as well as other random crap. In a cheesey polka style, complete with slurred drunk finnish lyrics (every song gets changed to be about how old and drunk they are and how much they like polka) and childs keyboard.

THAT SOUNDS FUCKING AWESOME.
and makes me sad that I don't speak Finnish.
-
Not speaking Finnish does make 'Jesus Hotwired My Wheelchair', 'polka-fu fighting', 'Enter Polkaman' etc. not quite as fun. They're still great. Get a live performance if you can.

Yeah, before hand that pit sucked. That girl in the pig tails was just whaling around like nobody's business. She totally hook'd my friend and took him downtown.
