Oh man, I don't know about you all, but I'm seeing a lot of great stuff on the horizon for this fall. Among the bands coming through my town are:
Pretty Girls Make Graves
Black Rebel Motorcycle Club
Blood Brothers
Bauhaus
Dresden Dolls
The Epoxies
Constantines
Oh man, this is looking like it'll be a fun season.
-
Aw, I thought this thread was going to be about concerts played by The Fall. Oh well.
Looks like a good lineup you got there, fella.
-
Yeah. I just had to brag. That is pretty much all.
BAUHAUS!
-
I am sad. All I've got lined up so far is a New Pornographers show. But it is at a kickass venue.
PS. Check your town for a Bad Plus show. They're on tour.

I'm going to be in Ottawa, rather than Toronto... for school...
I'd go see Alexisonfire in September, but they're playing with the Used, which makes me really want to not... and tickets are like 40$...
However the Underground Operations Unity Tour should be under way by then... a bunch of underground super-indie punk bands in a small venue... nice...
Protest the Hero is playing a release show for their newest album on the 30th of September, which, though technically not fall, I consider to be noteworthy enough to include.
And if I'm in town, I'll go see Thrice, the Bled and Underoath (though I only like Thrice, to be fair). It's fun to skank around all the kids who think they're cool by flailing the air :)...
And I guess that's all... for now...

The Arcade Fire on October 2nd - Basically, it's going to be 100% awesome.
Metric on October 25th - About the same percentage of awesome, I believe.
Heavy Trash on November 4th - Who knows how it'll go?
-
built to spill
decemberists
mountain goats
-
The Decemberists on October 8
and maybe Built to Spill on October 2
-
Nine Inch Nails with Queens of the Stone Age and Death From Above 1979 in November. I win.
-
I get to see my favorite local band play....for free....on Friday. Aaaaaand, I get to see them play again, for free, on September 8th.
Life is good.
-
OOH! Devotchka and The Hot IQs are ALSO playing Friday along with The Swayback. This gets even better.
-
You get to see DeVotchKa? you bastard.
Course, I'm sure the Three Businessmen should be playing some shows around here, I hope. those guys are ace.
-
For free. On Friday. Yeah baby.
And Swayback. MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM.
-
Man, fuckshit. Why the hell are Bauhaus playing the Paramount? Totally not cool. There's no pit! If I'm going to see Bauhaus, I want to DANCE.
I hope they change venues. The Fillmore would be awesome.
-
If today counts as Autumn, I went to see Sons and Daughters and they were awesome. The Long Blondes were also good.
-
YOU GET TO SEE BAUHAUS?!
*MURDER**STAB**KILL*

where are you seeing the new pornographers? i'm going to see them, too! in toronto.. wooo!
and i really wanted to go see the fiery furnaces, but i'm not 19 :(
also, to the person who is seeing the constantines: be ready for the best concert experience ever.
-
Yeah, I do. I'm pretty psyched. It's going to be expensive, and the paramount is the kind of place that doesn't have a pit, just seats, so it won't be the best venue to see them, but dude, it's fucking Bauhaus, right?
I'm just hoping they don't sell out in presale.
You should check they're not playing near you, because they just announced a shit-ton of tour dates in the states.
-
also, to the person who is seeing the constantines: be ready for the best concert experience ever.
Actually, it turns out I won't be able to make it to that concert. I have a conference I have to attend that week, so I'll be out of town.
But, I agree, awesomest experience ever. I saw them this summer in Pittsburgh at the Garfield Artworks, which, if you've never been there, is basically nothing more than a small room. They can fit about 200 folks in there, and that's being generous. Basically, I was in THE front of a tiny little crowd, and the band was just absolutely amazing....great stage presence, powerful sound....plus, I love the shit out of their music. So, in all, that was probably THE best concert I've ever been to.
-
I checked them a week ago, was pissed, and then checked after I said Murder. nowhere even closer than a 4 hour drive, which I just can't take right now.
-
If it's any consolation, Devotchka are playing up in Portland on September 2. You live in Portland, right?
-
Kansas. basically, nowhere near Portland. Or the Port Side, for that matter.
-
Aw, I thought this thread was going to be about concerts played by The Fall. .
me too ... but i think that the fall are playing somewhere i can get too this autumn
so i guess if i was speaking american i'd be going to see the fall in fall oooh
-
Kansas. basically, nowhere near Portland. Or the Port Side, for that matter.
How far are you from Kansas City, MO, or Iowa City, IA? Because Devotchka are playing both those towns with Dresden Dolls.
-
My heart is BROKEN
The Misfits are playing in London on the DAY of my niece's christening, in London, sounds like fate til you realise that my sister is paying me to babysit the kids so she can party. :(
I wanna see The Misfits... :(
-
I'm like, 20 minutes away from Kansas City, MO! FUCKING A! I'm not much on the Dresden Dolls, but DeVotchKa are totally worth it.
Also, why would you want to see the Post Danzig misfits?
-
Life is wonderful, ain't it?
And, the only reason to see post-Danzig Misfits is if you're a masochist. Fortunately, both the goth and punk subcultures are packed with people who get off on pain.
-
Also, why would you want to see the Post Danzig misfits?
BECUZ THEY ROCK DUDE. I HAV A MISFITS SHIRT AND SHOES AND HAT AND BELT AND BAG AND NECKLACE AND RING AND UNDERPANTZ AND PEN AND SOCKS AND SEX AID AND GUITAR AND BEDPSREAD AND TOILET SEAT THEY R THE BEST BAND EVA.
That, or to go Dimebag Darrel on their Danzig-defiling asses.
-
This is a tentative list, because I'll be extremely busy with school work this semester:
Sept. 8 - Of Montreal
Sept. 30 - Built to Spill
Oct. 19 - Mike Doughty / Orenda Fink
Oct. 22 - Dresden Dolls
plus probably at least 1 concert my college or one of the nearby colleges decides to hold.
I miss San Francisco. Ahh, the halcyon days of this June when I went to 3 shows in 2 weeks. That was fun.
-
Oct 17th Iron and Wine with Calexico
-
Oct. 22 - Dresden Dolls
Make sure you catch their opener. DeVotchKa are awesome.
-
where are you seeing the new pornographers? i'm going to see them, too! in toronto.. wooo!
In LA... heh... sorry about that [probably] awesome Canadian.
I am hopefully seeing Patton w/the X-ecutioners (they haven't announced tour dates yet, but they'll probably play an LA show.)
-
Woot. Sunset Junction Suckas. Look that up on the interweb and be blown away by the lineup.
-
Sept. 8 - Ted Leo + Pharmacists
w000tage!
-
Of Montreal, The Decemberists, LCD Soundsystem, The Fiery Furnaces, The New Pornographers. Living by Philadelphia has it's up sides.
-
Also, hopefully Andrew Bird. I've heard he's awe-inspiringly amazing live.

Because I want to, and because I can't see them with Danzig, now can I?
Um, I have a Misfits shirt, a present from my old bf, and I don't EVER use the phrase "EVA" and I can spell, when I can be arsed.
Sheesh, some people.
-
Man, yes, Devotchka today were awesome today, as were Swayback, as were the first band on, The Hot IQs. Hot IQs sound a little like Hot Hot Heat or Les Savy Fav. They're about to kick off a national tour, and they're probably worth catching if they come through your town.
Oh man, everyone was dancing (and I mean DANCING) to DeVotchKa. It was GREAT. SEE THEM.
-
I just found out about the Coheed & Cambria, Dredg, and The Blood Brothers show. Floor tickets are sold out. Might still go though because thats gonna be a great show.
-
Thunderbirds are Now!, The Gossip w/Frog Eyes, Xiu Xiu, maybe Bear vs Shark-I've never heard them, and Against Me!. These are the ones I'm interested in, not what I can afford. Oh, and I really want to go to Wolf Parade if my boyfriend can sneak me in. I've got tickets to Against Me! but not the others.
-
septemer - metric for the 4th time
october - the decemberists (cheap tickets!)
november - queens of the stone age & death from above 1979
I saw constantines for the 2nd time last week...they put on one hell of a show
that's the one and only thing I hate about going away for school, the best shows are always in toronto so I have to keep coming back. argh.
-
I'm considering seeing The Hold Steady on Sept 30th in Hoboken. It's only a few hours away.
-

-
This week, I've seen 9 Black Alps/Weezer and My Latest Novel/Teenage Fanclub/Idlewild/Pixes. And both gigs were fantastic!
-
HOLYSHIT!
I'm apparently seeing an Oingo Bonigo (kind of) show! Danny Elfman is a douche and doesn't want to bring them back together, so Johnny (aka Vatos) decided to try to get as many as he can. So far he has something like 4 of the old members and he says if either Elfman or Bartek joins, they're gonna go for it.
-
Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Sept. 3 @ Horseshoe Tavern, To;
Arcade Fire, Sept. 15 @ Summerstage, NYC;
The Shins/The White Stripes, Sept. 25 @ Keyspan Park, NYC;
The Decemberists, Oct. 5 @ Webster Hall, NYC;
The Fiery Furnaces, Oct. 14 @ Town Hall, NYC.
:)
-
And to finish my fortnight of massive gigging, I've seen Franz Ferdinand/Ladytron, and Franz Ferdinand/Arcade Fire. Again, both gigs were brilliant.
-
Aw...fiddle faddle! I really wanted to catch that gig, but i left it to late to get tickets. I remember seeing them setting up the stage whenether i was on Princes Street.
Edit: And from scrolling up, i see you saw that Pixies gig too. Dammit! You're incredibly lucky!
-
Yup, also Weezer and Sons and Daughters if you scroll further back. :P I thoroughly raped T on the Fringe this year. ;)
-
Reel Big Fish
Athlete
The Decemberists
Of Montreal
-
Oct 2nd Ted Leo and The Pharmacists
YES! Good choice! Not because of Ted Leo. I mean, he's good and stuff, but: North of America didn't break up and are instead opening for him! With new songs! And North of America are the best Canada ever spawned and also happen to be my favorite band.
If it's somehow possible, could you bootleg their show for me? That would be the best thing ever. I would also pay money if need be.
As for me:
Spoon
A Case Of Grenada
Melt Banana
The Locust
I'm thinking about Of Montreal, they're also touring Germany soon.
And Horse The Band are also supposed to play my hometown this year, though I don't know when.
-
November 14th - Children of Bodom, Amon Amarth, Trivium.
-
Franz Ferdinand tomorrow. It's gonna be the shit.
-
Pretty Girls Make Graves was decent was night. Lots of energy, relatively inspipred setlist (although they did nothing from the EP, which annoyed me). They played some new stuff, which was cool, but I wasn't particularly impressed by it....a lot of it felt like they were trying to rip off Hot Hot Heat and Decemberists.
The new keyboardist is HOT though.
Also, their opening band, IQU was fucking awesome. They did some mad-ass sound manipulation. I guess you could call them electronica, but man, they were something else.
-
Franz Ferdinand tomorrow. It's gonna be the shit.
Dude.
I hate you...
-
American Analog Set
Okkervil River
Saint Thomas
(for everything after beginning of october i still have to check - schedules, money, everything,..)
oh, and it seems franz is coming back to town, not playing in a club, not playing in some medium concert hall but in the most sellout place to go - the place where robbieeee, kylieeee, hansiiii (hinterseer) and all the other scourges of mankind (with screamable last syllables) playback their music.. oh boy...
(franz ist blöd!)
-
The Killers, Modest Mouse, The Arcade fire (meh...I'll skip that probably), Doves, British Sea Power, HIM, Mindless Self Indulgence, Nine Black Alps, The Lovemakers...Shoreline Ampitheater in San Fran on Oct 8th. I'm hoping to go...
Either that OR system of a Down in Arco on the 9th of that month...
And The Bad Plus? THERE'S an acquired taste...I got o see 'em in San Jose a week or two ago. Technically opened for 'em, actually.
-
Franz Ferdinand were really awesome. Heard like five new songs, and they were bloody good. Especially Villain. Can't wait for the new album.
-
I'm really excited for this fall in Michigan. Acts coming near me include:
Of Montreal
Death Cab for Cutie (not particularly excited for it, but i should be able to get in for free as an usher, as a friend of mine is the head usher for the show, and the venue is about 10 minutes from my house)
Sufjan Stevens in a week!
Bloc Party two days after that!
Andrew bird is also playing basically down the street from me.
Sigur Ros
