Title: Musical Guilty Pleasures
Post by: Kid_Disaster on 15 Sep 2005, 21:43
If you like a band that most people would bash on post it here. It'd be fun to see what happenes.

For example, I enjoy listening to Green Day and My Chemical Romance.

Pffft. I don't have guilty pleasures. I like what I like and it isn't my problem if you hate it. Now if you don't mind I have some Ace of Base to listen to.

Linkin Park >.>

I don't like to admit it.

And Rob Zombie, but that's not something I'm guilty about.

Missy Elliot - Work It
Nelly - Hot in Herre
Eminem - Just Lose It
The Offspring - Anything on Smash
Blur - Song 2 (because I know it was supposed to be ironic but love it anyway)
Crash Test Dummies - Peter Pumpkin Head

Sometime I like to listen to these all in a row.  Sort of like splurging on KFC & Fudge.

I must admit that the new Bloodhound Gang single is very, very listenable. It scares me how much I like, which comes to "a bit." Which is still more than their other material.

I don't know, I thought the lyrics to "Bad Touch" were kind of funny.

"You make me rise an hour early just like daylight savings time."

Heh.

Ok that worked a lot better for me 6 years ago.

I think my entire musical collection would make people on here cringe and/or yell in disgust.

I like pop punk. THERE I SAID IT.

I LOVE POP PUNK

Therefore I listen to Greenday, Screeching Weasel, Tilt, NOFX, Blink 182 (on a rare occasion) Me First and the Gimmie Gimmies, Toy Dolls, Teen Idols as well as Tsunami Bomb, AFI and Alk 3 when not to hyper. I also love cheesy Ska. I occasionally listen to some good stuff, I like SLF, but i dislike indie in general.

Go on... Kill ME.. Dare ya!

shrimp:

I don't think you have to be embarassed about listening to pop punk. I think it might be a tad more embarassing that you refer to Alkaline Trio as "alk 3."

I'm just too lazy to write alkaline trio well sort of... Alkaline to me means either Alkalis or Alkaline earth metals and thus teaching chemistry to unhappy 15 year olds just ruins enjoyment of even so much as mentioning the band. So to save me physical tears.... I write Alk3. Also to save me that extra like two seconds.

Yey for not being hated cause of the Screeching Weasel!

Screeching Weasel has been one of my favourites for years- My Brain Hurts is one of those albums you can just throw on whenever and it's good.

I wouldn't consider music to be a 'guilty pleasure', but the closest thing I can think of would be the Promise Ring- specifically the "Very Emergency" album- it's ultrasugary poppy but I love it.

"Switch" is a hilarious single. If the album was ten bucks cheaper, I would pick it up.

Who cares about rhyming? The entire affair is smooth and he manages not to laugh while delivering it.

Plus, you can be listening to it when suddenly, you do a double take and you're like "Did he just do a shout out to music pirates?"

EDIT: Plus, this rap music is suitable for all ages! He speaks to my Republican set of family values with his words.

I kind of like MCR again (used to like them A LOT). I'm also listening to Brand New now, but those are the only bands I don't openly admit I like. I consider it a guilty pleasure if you don't really openly admit it.

look at juvenile (did the song "back dat ass up" around 2000-2001) ...he just makes a noise at the end of lines that don't rhyme to go with the lines that do rhyme. google for his album "400 degreez" and you will see the butchery. i mean, there is a lot of rap i like, but shit like that (or will smith;s song) i just can't stand. remember will's other song - will 2 k (The new millennium, yo excuse me Willennium)? that is fucking profound.

But no, I can't say I had heard of that before. I spontaneously started to moan out loud when I saw that. From there, I went through a short stage of curiosity, but by now I totally don't care anymore.

=mumbles= I like that song, "Ghost of You" by My Chemical Romance. I guess that's just my love for the video and my love for history (andmyloveforGerard'stotallyhotemohairness) coming out.

Pleasedon'thurtme. I tried /so/ hard to hate that song. Mind you, the /rest/ of them are crap.

EDIT: Hay! I /like/ the Cranberries! And I'm proud of it, thank you very much.

I'm all about that.
My unabashed love of the Backstreet Boys has never been an issue for me.
