Thank you Pitchfork (http://pitchforkmedia.com/columns/dicrescenzo/05-09-19.shtml).
I think he's joking, but seriously, that would be a fun game. Any takers?
-
Maybe, if it weren't totally biased against anything that isn't indie.
Also, -10 for playing Bonnaroo? WHAT THE FUCK?
-
It's to see who can score the most scene points, i.e. it's basically a mockery of indieness in general. It would be a fun piss-take, at least, if we could actually get it organized and all.
-
That actually sounds like a lot of fun.
I'd do it.
-
I have to get in on this.
-
I would totally play that
What it needs is someone with a bunch of time and money to start a website with rankings and what not...
any volunteers?
-
Someone posted this to another forum and pointed out that while it's a funny idea it would be almost impossible to play. Since so many of the scores depend on the scores of other bands, every band in the world would have to have scores computed in order to make this a viable plan. Even in the U.S. it would take forever.

On JadeTree, Epitaph, Vagrant, Drive-Thru, Polyvinyl, or Fat Wreck Chords; -1? WHAT THE FUCK? YOU BE DISSIN' MY MUSIC???
I didn't even bother to read it all, even if it's just a joke. It smells of elitism, and I'm allergic to that shit.
It'd be acceptable - hell, maybe even fun - if they didn't put down non-indie music like they do, but who am I to say...

Label Name: Vectorman Records
Bands Signed:
1. Ryan Adams +2 Appearance, +1 Location +1 Record Label=4 Points
2. Wilco: +1 Band Line up +1 Label=2 points
3. The Black Keys -1 band name +2 Band Makeup +1 Label=3 points
That is 9 points so far. More to come.
-
I just looked into it and the Super Furry Animals work out to be an exact 0 points.

If everyone kept track of the points for their own bands, and there was a common database somewhere to input your bands' details into it could work. Assuming that no-one just went and made up bands consisting solely of mustachioed female violinists from Finland (as if anyone would ever do that....)
