Title: Death Cab Dilemma
Post by: czar0406 on 07 Oct 2005, 19:21
I have an extra ticket to see Death Cab For Cutie at The Hammerstein Ballroom Wednesday Oct 19th.  I cant find anyone else to take the extra ticket off my hand.  What should I do other than scalp it?

Cry, cut your wrists with it...It's what deathcab would want you to do. There's not really much else you can do with it, it's sell or suicide.
Or if you have any friends you could invite one of them along or bring a family member if you don't have any friends. If you're an orphan with no friends you could give it to someone on the street. I had that happen to me once. It was great, I saw Velvet Revolver for free, I wouldn't have paid.
So yeah, ignore the bastardly comments and either sell it or give it to someone(Say it's a birthday/xmas present).

Has anyone else noted that 'Deathcab Dilemma' would be an insanely better band name than 'Death Cab for Cutie'?

God yes but it would have been even better if they'd never gotten that contract...

Yeah man, use Deathcab to hookup chicks(or dudes if you fancy).
Seriously, if you paid for the ticket give it to a friend as a present. If it was free use it as a random act of kindness.

Definitely ask a girl along. You could trade phone numbers in exchange for the ticket. Or maybe there's a hottie you've been ogling at that's into that stuff. These things happen for a reason, you know ;)

ive asked so many girls now and they either havent heard of them, don't like them or me.  Same goes with the whole exchanging numbers game, not good.

Im thinking random act of kindness is the best way.  I just wish people werent too cool for me.  oh fuck that sounded emo!

Well if you're going to go the random act of kindness way (which is a really cool of you to do), I'd still give it to a cutie outside the venue desperately looking for a ticket. If you play it smooth enough, she just might give you her number spontaneously!

i dunno, i have a tendancy of having people taking advantage of my kindness.

Go with the random act of kindness.  I remember when I went to a Fountains of Wayne show (yeah yeah, they're fun!) and some guy asked me and my friend if we needed a ticket.  I did, and he just handed it to me.  Made my fucking night.

I heard they were very boring live...

I just saw them in Toronto last weekend. They were definetly not boring, however the crowd was total crap so it was difficult to judge how good the show actually was.
Alltogether too many screaming 15 year olds crying to songs off Plans. It got old fast.

Wow, you're an idiot. Death Cab doesn't have suicide lyrics and nothing they've ever done sounds at all like Rites of Spring.

Dumbass.

Anyway, I from what I've heard, they sound great live, despite Gibbard's terrible live voice an inability to sing into the mike properly. The music is a tad harsher and racous. There's more interplay and improvisation.

My friends were apparantly the only ones swaying that show,  but given, they were all too plastered to stand straight. I couldn't get tickets:(

Wow dude, way to get really personal about no big deal.
I don't like the band but you'll see that I did offer the guy some useful advice. My advice to you, don't take the internet seriously.

Death Cab For Cutie was lovely.  They played almost every song off of "Plans" and was a true joy to experience.  Ben Gibbards voice is perfect live and there set was flawless.

As for the extra ticket, i did the random act of kindness.  I made someone's day.

Death Cab For Cutie is now in my top 5 favorite band list after seeing them live.

Getting personal? What? Just calling out a redorkulous comment. You don't have to like them; in fact, you can hate them. I just thought the comment was stupid.

"You're an idiot" How is that not personal? It would've been far more simple to just say "I think that was a stupid comment". Perhaps someone needs to remember the "never post in anger" rule?
Bah, I don't care if the internet thinks I'm an idiot. I don't even know if you're a real person.

I just saw them in Atlanta.  Fun show, they played some old stuff that I enjoyed hearing.  And Stars was just about the best opening band ever.  I think the only way they could have been better is if they were the headliners. =P

Don't really like death cab all that much, but I would have gone just to see stars.
