is it just me, or do the trailers make this movie look just like garden state?

Not quite, but it looks pretty cute. I only saw the teaser trailer on television for the first time yesterday, and it looks pretty typical of a sweet love story that's a little bit unusual.

In other words, awesome and a half. ^^

It *is* Cameron Crowe. (cough, Vanilla Sky, cough)

Me too. I'm not all that thrilled for this movie (like I am for maybe 2 right now), although it does have a shred of potential - it does look cute, like Aphi said. It is a possible rainy-day movie for me.

I agree. or maybe a "I have no friends, so I'll see a movie with my mommy" movie.

Ugh, Cameron Crowe?  That scene in the aeroplane in Almost Famous was the most abject case of lazy scriptwriting I've ever seen.  I've never heard of this film (I guess it's not opening here for a while), but forewarned is forearmed!

That's kind of awesome. I secretly see movies with my mother quite often. but usually my brother and his girlfriend will tag along, so I don't seem that lame.

Fun fact!

Apparantly Ashton Kutcher was supposed to play the lead role instead of Orlando Bloom, but he was replaced because the director said that Ashton was the absolute worst actor he had ever seen in his entire life and he couldn't work with him at all.

..At least I found it funny.

Have you seen The Butterfly Effect????

I'm rather excited to see Orlando do something other than shoot stuff with arrows/hit them with swords/fall out of a helicopter. And I still have a soft spot for Miss Dunst. So in short, yes, I'm all over this movie, and have already made plans to go to it on Friday.

I'm not sure about the Garden State relationship. Sure, it's a mildly angsty twixter romance with a folky soundtrack...oh...well I guess I answered myself there.

It did remind me of Garden State, and I loved Say Anything.  DON'T JUDGE ME!  However, I'm probably going to watch this b/c my gf loves Orlando Bloom.

Coincidentally, there's a town called Elizabeth right next to Newark, where Garden State takes place.

was it the "IM GAY!" part of the scene? I can't remember much more that that.

I loved Almost Famous, though.
