...and i need some suggestions.
I have almost no collection now, since i had to sell all my stuff recently when i had some money issues.
So yes, I'm buying off the net.
Recommend some good webstores too, if you'd be so kind :)
Thanks!

What's your favorite genre?
-
well band-wise i'm currently enjoying...
Hot Cross
Raein
Saetia
A Silver Mt. Zion
Sufjan Stevens
Iron & Wine
La Quiete
Kings of Convenience
So yeah...
I'm open to anything though :D
-
and the only bands on that list that i have actual physical albums of are Hot Cross and saetia...which are the best albums by those other bands/artists? I had Shafts of Light by A Silver Mt. Zion but had to sell it :(
-
there's another thread for iron and wine recs... but i really like our endless numbered days.
kings of convenience.. riot on an empty street is my favorite.
and i don't know if you're into this kind of music, but i recommend vienna teng to everyone and most people have agreed that she is pretty awesome. she's a pianist/singer/songwriter type... pretty mellow and might be classified as 'girl music' if you're of the type that differentiates like that. samples on her website : www.viennateng.com both her albums are pretty ace in their own way... waking hour has some deeper songs with better lyrics in my humble opinion, but warm strangers definitely sounds more mature.

Order from insound. Buy ten records from their top 100. You then get free shipping and 25% of those, and I think off the whole order. And you can't go that wrong with that list.
As to specific recommendations, let me get back to you, but you should absolutely get Jens Lekman's "Oh You're So Silent, Jens" (out now on Secretly Canadian). Lekman is a great and underrated Swedish singer-songwriter and that record collects his three EPs and a bunch of great nonalbum tracks. And since he is better at writing good EPs than LPs anyway, it works out.

Why would you ever sell Shafts of Light?
Its called starvation. Do it.
-10 Indie Cred.

Order from Aquarius!! Find them at www.aquariusrecords.org. You can listen to clips of almost everything, and the mailorder guy is super friendly and chatty. Great, great, great independent record store.

"I had money issues, so I sold all my cds. I made 250$! This should pay off everything!"
-two weeks later-
"Hey, where'd this 250$ come from? I know, I'll replace all those cd's I had to sell!"
Seriously, maybe you sould consider saving it in case of another emergency ;).

Fuck buying online.
Go to your local record store, your used music store, your big superstore, WHATEVER. Some of the cashiers know more than they get credit for, and can point you in the direction of some stuff that may gel with your tastes.
To get the most bang for your buck, HMV occasionally does stuff like "2 for $25!" deals. That's how I got the Death From Above cd, and I picked up like 6 Floyd CDs off there. Not just DSOTM either. Animals, Meddle, Piper At The Gates of Dawn.
Get out there and do it in person.

Wow. I wish I had that much money right now to spend on music.
