Even though each post may get to be pretty long, I think it'd be cool to see what artists everyone has in their collection, strange or not. I'll take it from the top: (For the simple fact of keeping the length shorter, I created an HTML page to post in here, but trying to use HTML failed, so I saved my list as a PNG image)
Show yours! Let's see what everyone likes!
-
Your list fries my brain. Disturbed, Slipknot, and HIM in the same list as Dio, Iron Maiden, and Megadeth? IT MAKES NO SENSE.
-
There is no rhyme or reason to my musical preference. If it sounds good to me, it's in my library. :-)
-
Whut? You mean music collection on yer computer/digital format or like, EVERYTHING including random albums in the attic in which you bought when you went through a horrible pre-teen phase and never want to see ever ever agian?
-
This list is only for CD's as i can easily see over to the racks near my bed. The digital files would require hooking up to the external hard drive and putting them back on iTunes (internal hard drive fried a while back) and it is too late for that.
edit: this list is way too long. I put it here (http://blog.myspace.com/30820184).
I also have a vinyl collection which has some interesting stuff in it, but we'll save that for some other time.
edit: I just tripped over my bag and realized I have CD's by the following artists in there too:
Prince
Controller.Controller
Gastr Del Sol
The Delgados
Architecture in Helsinki
Ellen Allien
-
Hahahah I bet you guys that I have like the tiniest CD collection here.
Well here's the artists with full albums on my currently computer, regardless of whether I acquired them legally or not. I have about 50 data discs worth of music that I will not include, because that would be ridiculous.
Hahah yes that was captured from Microsoft Word.
Okay, the artists whose albums I bought in a CD-format (I have no vinyl):
The Arcade Fire
The Dandy Warhols
Frank Sinatra
Garbage
Goo Goo Dolls
Green Day
Interpol
Korn
Metallica
Modest Mouse
Nirvana
Our Lady Peace
Patrick Wolf
Pearl Jam
The Smashing Pumpkins

You can totally tell I bought more CDs in my pre-teens.
-
oe, patrick wolf. somebody sent me three songs (the libertine, tristan and some other track which title is somewhere lost in the grey mass) which i liked. is the cd you have good too in your opinion or..?

oe, patrick wolf. somebody sent me three songs (the libertine, tristan and some other track which title is somewhere lost in the grey mass) which i liked. is the cd you have good too in your opinion or..?
Well both the Libertine and Tristan are tracks from the Wind in the Wires album. I'll give you a short description of the two albums he has released.
Lycanthrophy (2004):
This album is insanity. It's pretty manic in comparison to the other one, much stronger electronic beats, and it gets really creepy in various parts, especially the track The Childcatcher, which is a song based on Patrick Wolf's experience of being raped as a child. It's almost like a concept album on how you know, he (or yourself) grows "claws" and turns into a wolf life throws lots of shit in the fan. This album sends home a message from the title song "Let no foot mark your ground, let no hand hold you down." It's volitile, it gets from sentimental to enraged, but it's pure creative genius. It's in my top 5 albums of all time.
Standout tracks: Pidgeon Song, the Childcatcher, Paris
Wind in the Wires (2005):
It's the first Patrick Wolf album I came across, and I liked it very much, but I still believe that Lycanthrophy is superior to it. It's more focused on the "folk" part of his folk/electronica description, the electronic beats take more of a backseat position, and the mood mellows out into more of generally melachony/sentimental. This album is more about loss and is filled with more cohesive imagery. It's quite a pretty album. And it's probably the most accessible of the two.
No matter what you decide you check out first, you better check both of them out at one point or another. They are very different, and yet still oh so very awesome.

You have 5 bands whose names start with the word 'Anal'. Perhaps this is indicative of something.
-
"Anal Blast
Anal Cunt
Anal Intruders
Anal Penetration & Anal Whore
Anal Soda"
make that six bands, not five
-
Whereas I have four bands that have the word "Jesus" in them. To each his/her own.
-
