Oasis in March. Most of the good local bands have gone on tour, and it's hard to find a concert here that isn't mostly country, folk, or classical, and they just aren't my thing.

But then again I might just skip the whole thing cause my date (girls like metal too) is kinda torn between this and some other thingamabob.

You're fucking lucky up in the north. Down south pretty much all we get is metalcore and the occasional second tier Gothenburg act.

You got Blood Island Raiders/Scissorfight/Orange Goblin at Christmas!

Manchester is a bit rubbish at times for gigs. Lots of bands go for Liverpool and Leeds over Manchester. Nottingham and Sheffield have it good though.

I missed Gigantour (which, among others, included Megadeth, Dream Theater, Symphony X, and Nevermore), and that really pissed me off, because they skipped over the Bay Area ENTIRELY.

Consolation is, Skindred are supposed to be supporting, so I will be moshing out to some hardcore Reggae Metal action. Jah.

The first half was his 'Jupiter' Symphony, and the second was "his" Requeim Mass. Jupiter is always cool, and there are parts of the Requeim that don't suck that hard. First concert from a musician who actually travelled here was a NYC pianist named David Berkman. He played with two of the jazz faculty members at the local college, and he was fantastic. I need to remind my teacher that I want the recording of that show.

There may be more, but they're not listed on the venue websites. Well, that's a lie. George Clinton is coming, but it's a Sunday, and I have early classes on Monday. I don't want to see him that badly.
