do you read them? do you have one? (psst i have one plug (http://daraphonic.blogspot.com/))
do music blogs really have a point, do you think? which ones do you read?
i find Alex Ross' blog interesting: http://www.therestisnoise.com/
and here is an interesting one from an eloquent harpist: http://harpist.typepad.com/twangtwangtwang/
chirp!

I've never really encountered a musical blog that dealt with stuff I like.
Apart from the one I write (http://mirkgard.blogspot.com/) of course.
-
that is usually the case, it seems. maybe one needs more of a draw than just music. people have a choice of thousands of free things to read, it's hard to stand out.
that said, nice blog!
-
I read John Darnielle's music blog.
-
I've read Khar's every now and then, but generally, no.
-
I listen to the flash player on The Hype Machine (http://hype.non-standard.net) quite a lot, which aggregates from all the music blogs out there. I like doing that just for the heck of listening to bands that for one reason or another I've resisted, so that I can decide definitively whether or not I like what I hear.
I guess without music blogs there would be no Hype Machine ( :( ), but I do think Last FM does a good job of catering to that kind of need anyway.
In short, I'm glad that they're there, but in reality I don't really download from them all that much. :)

Usually, no. Unless the writer really comes with something interesting.

So?
Seriously, you need to be a little less self-concious about the whole indie-scene thingy.
Go ahead and start one!

Benn Loxo Du Taccu is my very favorite blog.

Frank Zappa once said music journalism is people who can't write interviewing people who can't speak for people can't read.
99% of blogs are people who can't write writing for people who aren't reading.
I've stumbled across a few interesting articles and columns, but many more that just pissed me off either at how poor they were or at the stupid opinions expressed therein. I don't read any regularly.
-
That's probably the third time I've seen that particular Zappa quote on this forum.
It's just like anything: There are some blogs of worth out there, and there is some complete crap.
-
Bet you the other two were myself. In fact, I'm pretty definate that they were me.
Frank Zappa once said music journalism is people who can't write interviewing people who can't speak for people can't read.
Bonus points for Zappa quotes.

I thought of quoting Zappa in my first entry but then I thought it'd be passé

heya khar!
i share your hate for james blunt, that guy sounds like chicken to me,
i like radiohead though, but not "radiohead=my life" thing to me

What do you guys think is the -best- music blog? I know of virtually none, so I'm in the market to start reading one :P
-
Fluxblog (http://fluxblog.org) is my all time favorite. I love practically every track Matthew posts, and he's a great writer. Largeheartedboy (http://blog.largeheartedboy.com) is another must visit, and there are a bunch of others I check for good music.
And, of course, my own (http://thebubbledeath.blogspot.com), which is really the greatest of them all.
-
I like Just For A Day (http://justforaday.blogspot.com). They have a good selection of experimental leaning stuff and they don't seem to restrict themselves to what's new or what's cool and they take their name from a Slowdive album.
-
Just for a Day seems fancy. I'll check back later.
-
Ill check out Just A Day.
-
probably the one that I read the most, just because I share similar music tastes is Gorilla vs. Bear
Other good ones:
You Ain't No Picasso
Music for Robots
Take your Medicine
Fluxblog
Sixeyes
Dreams of Horses
Everybody Cares, Everybody Understands
Skatterbrain
My Old Kentucky Blog
Music for Kids Who Can't Read Good
The Test Pilot
Does Stereogum count?
