So earlier this week it was announced that a new game development company is going to be creating an MMORPG based on the Stargate SG1 and Stargate Atlantis tv series.
I don't know if there are any Stargate fans here but I gotta say I'm psyched.
There's a lot of potential for a Stargate game. I can't wait till next week to find out more info.
-
That would be cool indeed. I just hope that they manage to
1- go all the way through with it
2- get the player base needed to make it work
-
it sounds like it's going to be guildwarsy, creating instances with bots.

Not sure where your getting that info from, b/c NOTHING has been officially released on the MMO yet. Their first press conference is Wednesday.
The information your hearing very well could be from the console game that went the way of Duke Nukem...

this can only be awesome. even tho i'll prolly never play it, i'm still stoked it's happening.
-
This could be great, or could be an utter hackjob.
We shall see. If it's Guildwarsy, it'd be bumpin.
-
I've been waiting for this day....
-
Not another MM! AAAAH! I don't even have enough time for GW, let alone Auto Assault, or possibly this...
-
LOL Yeah and I'm sure there are plenty more coming.
I'm participating in a press conference tomorrow (and recording it) and will have the clips available and will be discussing them live on air at 7p.m. on w00t Radio, for those interested tune in!

Right about now a CalDAV server would come in handy.
-
Anyone gotta link so I may spread the joy to other forums?
-
*sigh* One of the genres of games that just completely doesn't interest me. Oh, wait. Now that I think about it, there are a lot of genres that don't interest me. Well, their probability of finding one that did was really low, so I'm not surprised.

Reading that first one it sounds kinda boring. No death penalties? Where's the risk? The risk makes it interesting. There were other points but I've since closed that tab and are too lazy to follow the link and find them again.
-
Death penalities have been regarded as a no-no in MMOs if you want to appeal to the "casual" gamer. WoW has proven appealing to the casual gamer is for more profitable than hoping to steal the hardcore Treadmillers away from other successful MMOs.
That said, I really hope this game isn't like GW, I got bored of that game in less than a week. I was really hoping there was going to be a Republic Commando single player type game of Stargate some day too where you're Colonel/General O'Neil and/or Lt. Colonel John Sheppard and you command your squad through various missions and what not.
-
But 70% of the Stargated Planets look alike(Which is alot like the Vancouver countryside, for some reason....)
-
But that's why a video game is cool. They can design whatever worlds they want. Hell, even a single player game could have you follow the path of another team. Honestly, I'd be annoyed if they actually had a single player Stargate game that had you be SG-1. Though, I wouldn't mind if Richard Dean Andreson were in it. I mean, he's done video game voices before, and he was awesome.
-
eh, if it has Richard Dean Anderson in it I'd rather play a McGuyver game.
Gotta love McGuyver
-
Yeah, but MacGyver games would be rediculously hard.
-
I hope this game isn't a resounding failure. If Planetside has taught us anything, its that FPS MMOs are very hard to balance. Everyone will use the best gun, people complain about that gun, then they change everything. After the first hundred times they do this, the game stops being fun.
