So, this is a post to get your band or a local band that you like to get noticed. If you want to you can include some background on the band, but it's your choice. Make sure to include a link where people can listen to their music.
So, I'll go first.
This band is called "With Eyes Like Ours" and they are a local Indie/Rock band in my area (Huntingdon Valley, Pennsylvania)
The first time i saw them play was at a local Hurricane Katrina Relief Concert hosted by my High School. I instantly go hooked on their music and they remain one of my favorite bands to this day.
Here's their Myspace page: http://www.myspace.com/witheyeslikeours They used to have more songs up, but they removed a lot of them for reasons unknown. But anyway, Enjoy :)

This guitar player/teacher named Lee Barbour has something in my town. I'll let his words describe it best:
"I have a new band called "the easy way to quit smoking" with Ron Wiltrout. This is a duo we started a couple of months ago that has evolved from buying a lot of cool gear and wondering what it would sound like to our first gig at Lite Affair this Sunday night. I wanted a group that would be able to pull off lots of different sounds live, and I got it. Since there are just two of us it's a real challenge to pull it off but I've been happy with what we've done in rehearsal."
They're both extremely competent musicians, and I'm thinking about going to the gig. Unfortunately, I seem to be the only music student at the college who doesn't know where that place is...
Anyways, here's a link to their myspace page. (http://www.myspace.com/theeasywaytoquitsmoking)
You can also check out Lee Barbour's stuff. (http://www.myspace.com/leebarbour)
-
Hm, they sound very interesting.

This guys are KILLER live. I like their studio sound, but it doesn't come close to the awesomness of seeing them around.
-
Zoé, a, Indie mexican band (lord now those are scarce) and a good one to boot.
http://www.zoetheband.com/videos.html
.Here you can watch their videos in flash format or listen to the latest single (where it says mp3 player)

-
Abduktio from Tampere, Finland: http://www.kapina.org/abduktio/
They play modern hardcore in the vein of D.S.-13, Refused, etc. Excellent stuff and absolutely a killer live.
-
local bands, hmm.... kaiser chiefs, embrace, the music, send more paramedics, zar, lucida console, mishkin, schroedinger, the magpyes, spasticated razor masturbators, dried semen, vomit toad (gotta keep plugging).
-
I just saw the Big Positive play the other day. They're much, much better live.
You can check out their myspace here: http://myspace.com/thebigpositive
And, of course, you can always check me out at: http://myspace.com/thebrilliantforest
-
Well, now I find out that my band has a myspace page, with music! I had no idea. Of course, for our first gig, I didn't even know we had a name (it's been a while since I've actually played for a "band" and not just a pick up gig).
Metropolis (http://www.myspace.com/metropolisjazz)
-
send more paramedics
I'm most envious for you being from what ever place SMP is from.
-
The Bank Holidays are probably my favorite local band right now. They play jangly 60s style pop.
Streaming sample: Here
Also, seeing as how their stuff is pretty much impossible to get, I'll send it to anyone on Soulseek who pm's me with their username. (Mine is "Bobsledboy")
-
whoring myself sounds fun.
i've got some shitty acoustic demos up. most of which were written and recorded on the same day. the levels aren't quite right either because vocals and guitar were recorded all at once seeing how i don't have a computer capable of recording track over track.

Also, seeing as how their stuff is pretty much impossible to get...
If there is ever some obscure Aussie record from some small Aussie band that you're after, check out Inertia. They do distribution for a lot of labels around here (and some overseas too I think).
-
I wish I had a local band to whore. There is no scene here, hardly any bands and the ones there are suck. It is a musical wasteland :(
-
http://www.flattyres.nl/
Although it's dutch, so probably no one will be able to read the site.
Press 'sounds' and click the yellow thingies.
Nice, sproingy rock and roll with an great bassist and an amazing singer.
-
Yeah, here's my band.
www.myspace.com/internationallyacclaimed
If you are in the Livermore, CA area and are a good blues singer, but able to work in other genres (we're working on a lot of different songs in different styles), slip me a private message, we're looking for a vocalist.
Edit: Also, TrueNeutral, your vocalist is hot.
-
Not 'my' vocalist, it's not my band. It says local bands, not your own bands.
But yeah, she's hot. Too bad for you (and me) that she's as lesbian as she can get.
EDIT: Who needs Steel Drums reminds me of EElS for some reason. This isn't bad because I love EElS.
-
I'm going to whore my friend and his singer/songwriter aspirations. He's recorded everything with a shitty mic on his computer but I do see some potential there. Check it out. http://www.myspace.com/musicfromsteve

Dude, how can you get back to play with your band from Luxembourg/Albania/wherever the fuck you are now?

THROUGH THE AIR, MAN. THINGS ARE CHANGING... WOAH, LIKE, DUDE.

I meant on anything resembling a regular basis.
-
NO, YOU SEE, HIS BAND WOULD LIKE, CHANNEL HIM, USING SOME PAPYRUS AND POPPY SEEDS, AND THEY'D SAY A SACRED CHANT, AND THEN HE'D BE LIKE, THERE, BUT LIKE, NOT THERE... AT THE SAME... LIKE, TIME.

I promise you, you can indeed record more than one track no matter how shitty your computer. I’ve done it on a 486 laptop without even a single MHz of RAM. It has nothing to do with what your computer is capable of, you just need the right software.

what software would that be? i currently use cubase. the lag is bad enough that if i stum a chord there is a noticable delay before the sound wave will flash up on my screen. i don't have the cash to upgrade my computer so if there's some program that will somehow record without a delay do tell.

Well,
I have a band. myspace.com/inspectorowl.com (http://myspace.com/inspectorowl)
we play dancey indie pop stuff. we play around the midwest. Im super excited because we are playing a festival with Rainer Maria, Maritime, and Make Belive soon. Should be a good time.
-
http://www.myspace.com/theassailant... I went to highschool with the drummer from this band. he's a cool dude.
-
THROUGH THE AIR, MAN. THINGS ARE CHANGING... WOAH, LIKE, DUDE.
Actually yeah, that's pretty much how we make our music. We write it, then I lay a guitar track down and send it to my bassist over the INTERTR0N ZOMG, and he lays his bass track down and sends it back to me over the INTERTR0N ZOMG, and then I put it on the band's myspace.
I'm moving back to California when I turn 18 though so we'll be able to be like YAH SUP without needing the INTERTR0N ZOMG to do our stuff. :B
-
Not really most peoples type of music (me included) but these guys are hilariously fun and some of my best friends. And their stage show kills. http://www.myspace.com/floodofred
-
Sorry, about triple post. I fucked up.
An awesome singer songwriter. I sold him my soul once. http://www.myspace.com/mattjohnston
-
I think Ayepod you must know my brother. Aren't you going to hype your own band The Shot heard around the world.
Well I was going to say Matt as well but you were first.
What about The Silent Revolution
http://www.thesilentrevolution.co.uk/
They have a myspace file where you can listen to their songs. They're great.
Also all the local bands in Edinburgh Sweet Little Bullet, Left Wide Open there must be more are great. I'm from Stirling nothing happens here.
-

But it's still recording noise. It doesn't matter if you see the waveform right away or latter, or at all for that matter. The wavform image is just a little something extra the kind people at Steinberg put in there to make things easer for you. The bottom line is, the actual audio data being recorded is there from the get go. But as far as that lag goes; try reducing your sample rate to 41000 if you're not there already. As long as you're not Superman, you wont hear any difference in audio quality. Also, if you're using Cubase SX, there is an option to make the interface a little less grafic intensive (I've forgotten where, but you should be able to find out in the help file). I'm not sure if that option is in Cubase VST but if it is, use it. Finaly, make sure you're not monitering while you record. I know it makes you feel like an international pop star when you hear yourself in the cans as you play, but it's unnessasary and, for a system like yours, unreasonable. If your using an accustic guitar then there is really no reason to do it. Monitering IS where all your system resourses are going. Get out of the habbit until you buy a smack-load more RAM and a new CPU.
And to not steer things off topic. Some pals and I will be playing these songs (http://www.myspace.com/lesbabysnakes) as soon as we get our stuff togeather. They're on a few local comp cd's and stuff, but that's about it right now.

The Selmanaires (http://www.myspace.com/theselmanaires) The songs on Myspace aren't the best quality sadly. Definitely my favorite local band now due to my wonderfuly great friends Avenge Vegas (http://www.myspace.com/avengevegas) calling it quits.
The Swear (http://www.myspace.com/theswear) There is a possibilty you've heard them on Smallville at some time.
Second Shift (http://www.myspace.com/secondshift) I'm kind of at a loss as how to place these guys. I like em though.
And because Athens is close enough for me, I know some of you guys have heard of Jucifer (http://www.myspace.com/jucifer)
Any of you folks from Tennesee into the Theory 8 bands? I loves me some Forget Cassettes.
-
That is a horrible name.
heh, that is a terrible name. they're a bunch of sick guys.
I wanted to post their name in the "bad band names" post but forgot about it.
-
Not really a local band, but Ambulette still a bit obscure and is made out of pure awesome
www.myspace.com/ambulette
The singer is Maura Davis, from Denali, although now she's singing rock (and doing a great job of it, if you ask me)

We are sadly no more. And I am doomed to play solos shows from now on. I say doomed but I love playing shows by myself,it's awesome.
-
Really brilliant band, my mate Conor plays the bass.
Supporting INME soon.

Here are Malajube [Mah-Lah-Jewb]. If you like schizophrenic pop on drugs and candies. They unfortunately didn't put their new songs on the internet yet. They give a great live show and usually throw jellybeans to the crowd.
http://www.myspace.com/malajube
-
Local band, I'm friends with all the members.
Mostly acoustic sets, pretty good vocals.
I can say they'd go somewhere with the lead guitarist and the drummer, but the rest of them are expendable.
http://www.myspace.com/solacerocksus
-
These guys are still in high school, but already very good. http://www.thebroomhandles.co.nr/
That's their site. Just click on the purevolume link. Easy is easily one of their best songs. (No pun intended)
-
Two local bands I like:
http://music.myspace.com/deceptionpoint
This is Deception Point, a punk type band from the Butler area around Pittsburgh. I've seen them a few times, they're pretty good.
http://music.myspace.com/lumberghost
And this is LumberGhost. I only heard them once, but I think they're pretty good. They sound kinda like Peter Frampton.
-
http://www.myspace.com/ramonacordova
Amazing.
-
A local band outta Ann Arbor, MI. One of the best bands Ive heard in a while in terms of range, these guys play everything, typically to much halarity.
http://www.tallyhall.com
check em out, make sure you catch the Banana Man music video they made under the Media section
-
OK I'd like to get some of the more knowledagble electronic music lovers on here's opinon. There's a local artist I know who records under redlymb http:// http://www.myspace.com/redlymb I don't think it's half bad, but I mean I'm by no means an expert on the subject, your thoughts?

Ok a few really good Winnipeg groups
http://www.myspace.com/thepaperbacks
Saw them open for The Hold Steady, very great guys, very good music.
http://www.myspace.com/novillero
I saw them open for New Pornographers and they were great, in fact many people I talked to thought they were the highlight of the night.

you guys should check out This Dying Hour. They are from Burlington, WA and they make good music. its metal so if you dont like metal you will disagree.
-
Here are some bands from Leeds:
Birds of Delay (http://www.myspace.com/birdsofdelay) - Noise. Good noise. East coast US tour soon I believe. Former Selah, current Woman and of course both are members of Birds of Prey.
Tigers (http://www.myspace.com/tigers3000) - Ex/current members of Eiger, Canvas, Humanfly, Cowtown, Brown Owl, The Dragon Rapide, Double Six Flight Team, Action Everybody... basically, they've been about, know their stuff and want to sex you up.
Humanfly (http://www.myspace.com/humanfly) - Sadly, these tracks only showcase the previous, more hardcore 'fly. Not that this wasn't awesome but in the past year they've cut down on the vocals and are kicking ass in the big, sort of epic metal vein. Basically, the kind of band the likes of Pelican wish they were. These guys have been/are in Canvas, Tigers, Beecher, J*R, Birds of Prey, Das Double Muslin Machine and Last Good Sleep.
Red Stars Parade (http://www.myspace.com/redstarsparade) - Huge, crushing grooves are the staple of Red Stars Parade. Isis comparisons have been hurled around about them before but they're way off the mark, presumably made just because they both play long heavy songs (although Red Stars are a fair bit weightier than Isis). 'Disko' was easily one of the best UK albums of last year.
Duck Stab (http://www.myspace.com/duckstab) - Yet another Leeds band with a daft list of ex/current members. Driven Down, The Devils, Unicorn Love, Charlie Don't Surf, We Are Corpses, Broken Access, No Excuse, Dungeon Nun, Holy Crap! My Face!, Jupiter Lander, Motley Crudos... We're an incestuous city, hence our vast quantity of bands. Pissed-up fast and dirty hardcore.
Like A Kind of Matador (http://www.myspace.com/lakom) - Eerily beautiful doom, courtesy of McWatt, Trees, Tigers, Birds of Prey, Rauschen, Red Right Hand people. There should be an album out on Tumult at some point.
Benjamin Wetherill (http://www.benjaminwetherill.co.uk/) - Last time I saw this man play he did two George Formby covers. A superb folk singer with a very distinctive voice.
D-Rail (http://www.myspace.com/drail) - Proof that having an absolutely godawful name doesn't stop you being a good band. These guys have been around for years but have only just gotten around to a debut album just out on Calculated Risk (also home to Humanfly). Metalcore the way it ought to sound, but most bands in the genre are too busy dressing up like tits to get the music right.
And that's just the tip of the iceberg really. Leeds is shite for a lot of things, but music is the one area we excel in.
-
Too bad Duck Stab don't break out the ultra extreme Avant that they took their name from. :D
-
Well, Ewan of Duck Stab (the one who named them) does have another band which is far more extreme and possibly avant (although I suck at proper usage of that term).
Unicorn Love (http://www.myspace.com/unicornloverockgroup)
-
http://myspace.com/exitclov
they are total love. indie/pop/experimental.
twin asian girls, and three guys.
-
Okay, that unicorn Love? That's what I'm thinking it should be like. Fuck yeah.
-
Local Montreal critics, both french and english, seem to have given their souls to Malajube (http://www.malajube.com/) lately, and after buying their records and seeing them live I have to agree. Other cool ones would be Karkwa (http://www.karkwa.com/).
Edit: Felix has already mentioned Malajube, my bad, but they still rock.
-
A little band from Lincoln, Nebraska called Reverso Benigni http://www.myspace.com/reversobenigni. Instrumental beep-rock (yeah, I just made that up but it describes them pretty well).
-
There's this guy I met at a coffee shop when I was playing an open mic who's really good, especially if you're into really early Bob Dylan.
http://www.myspace.com/shanegooding
-
Tom Fun and the (whatever they decide to put here...my personal fave is "holy microphone machine"...but it could really be anything)
there are like 15 people in the band. it is awesome.
-
I suppose Wolfmother count as a local band, though they've broken through to chart success.
Either way, the keyboard solo on "Mind's Eye" is great, in a cheesy sort of way.
-
Holy Crap. My hometown has actually produced a decent band (their live shows are pretty good, you notice that all of them were previously in brutal hardcore bands) which managed to score a record deal with a good label.
The Data Break (http://www.myspace.com/thedatabreak). Oh so indie.
-
My band!!!
Est,
(http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b10/carlgrossi90/EST.jpg)
This band includes, Asturge, captain fantastic, myself and a new lead singer kate :P
We'll get a myspace soon because we're recording, THEN THE REAL WHORING WILL BEGIN!!
(Logo photoshp'dddd by sideways ;))
-
DarkBlack!
www.myspace.com/darkblack
My bass teacher is the guitarist in the band. They are thrash metal, I suppose. Unfortunately for me they are moving to Portland Oregon in a few weeks. They are the best local band.
-
Finally went to see my friend's 8-piece band, The Superficial Heroes, the other week. Their genre is "skacore/punk" and they were pretty good! (Probably would have been even better if the bassist wasn't drunk)
They've only got one song recorded at the moment, which can be found here --> http://www.myspace.com/thesuperficialheroes
(Ignore the part before the song actually starts. It's just some chav that they put on as a way of showing him just how stupid he sounds)
-
This band's in Berkshire County, Massachusetts. One of my friends got guitar lessons from one of the band members. I went to a couple of their shows and now I'm hooked. They play some happy music. Pretty Shins, Chutes Too Narrow. Really good. I highly recomend them.

My noisy friends! They're coming back from their tour in Europe in two weeks I think. They're cool, potheads and pretty violent.

That's actually pretty rocking shit. I agree with the Slough Feg comparisons the interviewers are making. And I LOVE Slough Feg.
