Title: Too Good to be True?
Post by: Storm Rider on 14 Feb 2006, 22:59
OK, so according to their record label, Testament's new album is due out sometime this year, which will be their first since their 1999 release because the band went on hiatus after the singer was diagnosed with brain cancer (he has since recovered). What is getting me excited is that one of my favorite guitarists ever, Alex Skolnick (imagine Yngwie Malmsteen with an actual sense of melody, who can write songs to boot), rejoined the band for their reuinion tour last year, and is still listed as a current member of the band, and the label has not yet announced any replacements for their lead guitarist spot. As such, there are rumors flying that Skolnick may have rejoined the band permenantly. Because Testament is my favorite metal band not named Iron Maiden, I am practically shitting myself in excitement over this.

But since I think only two or three other people on this board give a rat's ass about Testament, talk about any music-related rumors that excite you.

GRYFF! Stop derailing my thread!

I wanted to type that in all caps, but that would mean like half the posts in this thread would be ironically angry, and that's a little excessive.

I'm pulling out Souls of Black to celebrate

Didn't Chuck Schuldiner die of brain cancer? (It was something related to the brain, maybe a tumor? I don't remember)

You are my favorite new person on the board.

And Schuldiner did indeed die of a rare form of brain cancer, but that was 5 years ago now, and he was in Death, not Testament. Although like 3 or 4 guys from Death have been in Testament at one point or another.

Also, Souls of Black is one of the most metal album titles ever.

Yeah, I never said he was in Testament, I just thought it was strange that they both got brain-related illnesses, and both were in metal bands.
