Title: Competitive Gameplay

What, if any, games do you play competitively?

I still play the first Call of Duty's Team Death Match all the time.  Used to play with my younger brother on a server that kept track of stats, so we'd compete against each other to win obscure awards, like most kills using melee or most kills with panzerfaust.

Tried to get into CounterStrike: Source, but it's just not my thing.  Although, one of my friends I've made up here at college is freakin' amazing at the game and he offered tutelage, so I might have to take him up on it.  We'd make a clan called Argos Rides Again and everyone would go by various characters from the Iliad.  (I was gonna go by Teucer and he was gonna be Telamonian Ajax.)

Also, my small group of best friends back home have a standing competition going to see who can get the highest score in career mode on Guitar Hero on Expert difficulty.  I just broke the 7 million point threshold, so I'm in the lead.

I used to play Counter-Strike and Condition Zero pretty competitively until last year when my grades started slipping in high school. I used to be in this pretty good clan that I had started (I was co-leader). We were really, really good. We probably only lost about ten rounds in all the matches we had played. I've been trying to get back into it, and I still have some skill, but none of the better CAL-I clans want me... yet.

I play hopscotch competitively.  The hopscotch world is cutthroat, man.  I once shivved a guy when he stepped on the lines and wouldn't admit it.

Scrabble.  There are over thirty ways to kill a man using only the letter Q and the Triple Word square.

That is quite possibly the funniest thing I've heard all day.

Thanks.  XD

Well, the only game I was interested in kills n stuff was Battlefield: Vietnam. Played on the Jolt servers all the time, they kept stats.

After I asked one of the admins to add mortar kills to the lists, I was in the top 10 :D

*fondly remembers the helicopters that were shot down with a mortar*

I played the original CS pretty competitively until 1.0 came out, then it was hack city/shit-talking central.  Moved on to FLF for a few months, then...  Nothing till about 2002.  Played SoF2 hardcore (we're talking 20 hours a day at times), was #1 overall for a few weeks.  Played in CAL-I while it was running.  Tried CoD, despised the aiming system.  Played BF:V, but could never scrape together enough people to field a team.  CSS also doesn't do it for me, since I always get railed the instant I am seen.  No fun.  Playing some BF2, but again, no team, since it requires too many people.

I'm looking for a future FPS that'll support some nice 5v5 or 6v6 action.  I like small squad-based play; things get to be a lot more fun when it comes down to a 3v1 at the end of a round.  Though I also fondly remember pulling off quite a few 7v1 and 8v1 on the QuakeShit servers with SoF2.  Oh, those were the days.
