I guess it doesn't really count if you talked to them after a show, unless you left and bumped into them into an entirely irrelevent spot.
Anyhow.
My friends and I today spotted Dan from Wolf Parade in a local record store, and was absolutely puzzled as to why nobody else noticed him, it being Zulu records and everything. He eventually left without us confronting him, but we bumped into him in a nearby thriftstore and had a nice short chat with him. He's really nice. I should have asked him more than one question.

I met Interpol at a coffee shop when they came to play Mexico.
-
Coonstar, you're from Vancouver then (based on the Zulu records reference)?
Anyway, you're definately really lucky to have seen him, I'd love to meet any of the members of Wolf Parade really. I guess I should have journeyed down to Zulu today...

Indeed we were lucky. I didn't really see it as much of a big deal at all while my friends were trying to confront him, because I didn't really have much to say to him and the only musician I really have much to say to is Billy Corgan (OMGOMG I MADE MASKS OUT OF YOUR FACE AND I WAS YOU FOR HALLOWEEEEN). My friends even asked me to talk to him first, but I was like yargh must respect privacy. How much of a dimwit am I? :P He was really nice but he didn't even really look at me, he was too busy commenting on my friend's Animal Collective shirt. He likes Animal Collective, how awesome is that? I hear that all folks of Wolf Parade are pretty friendly, 'cept for Spencer. He's the antisocial one.
Yep yep, Vancouver. I asked him where Wolf Parade is based now and he states "we're bi-coastal!" Yay, so expect more spottings then? :P

:O Tell more! Friendly? Not friendly? Was there attire suitable to the climate?

Saw Quincy Jones at a local restaurant. The funny thing is, there were a whole bunch of jazz guys there, because it was a jam session after a concert at the college. Not a single person went up to him, though. He was very clearly engaged in a serious discussion with the two other people at the table.
I also helped interview Scott Travis (Racer X and Judas Priest), but I suppose that doesn't really count.

I only met Paul and Daniel. Paul Banks actually attended a high school here in Mexico City years ago and as fate would have it I was wearing said schools t-shirt (one of my friends goes there) so that may have helped. As for the attire, only Dan was in full Interpol regalia. Paul was wearing this (http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a228/stelladives/100_0006.jpg) ( no that is not me). Oddly enough, I was looking through an old thread at the interpol forum for a picture of what Paul was wearing and I found this (http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a228/stelladives/100_0008.jpg). That's Daniel walking to a coffee shop, the one were I met them.

I played Trivial Pursuit 90s Edition with Win and Regine from The Arcade Fire. They won partly on the strength of Win's excellent knowledge of 90s business trivia. The man knows his bubble-economy dot-coms.

I have absolutely no idea if you're joking or not.

You know humility only after asking a minor rock star an obscure question about Excite and having him immediately answer it correctly without discussing with either of his teammates.
-
How did this situation come to pass anyway?

I met 8/11th of the touring broken social scene the day after their gig in Dublin, it was nice because brendan canning stopped me to talk to me!
-
My roommate dated him for a while in high school. So they were in the Bay Area for a couple weeks, staying with a mutual friend, and they came to our Christmas party in 2004. There was Trivial Pursuit. That's the story.
Other than seeing Daedelus in the SF Amoeba, I have absolutely no other non venue-related artist sightings to tell.

I saw Jarvis Cocker in London once. Just thought Id share that with ya all :).
-
I pissed next to the guitarist from The Hold Steady, other than that nothing.
-
I once gave directions to Absent Kid, directions into the club where they were playing, which we were standing outside.
-
A former teacher of mine and I saw Corrin from Sleater-Kinney at a swimming pool in Portland. she seemed weirded out that fans recognized her.
And I know that AFI isn't well received here, but i met Davey Havok in Oakland. He's real cool and fan friendly, contrary to popular belief.
-
Hahah oh man, Corin Tucker? At a swimming pool? How slightly awkward! I'd also probably be able to recognize her a mile away despite her not having ridiculously distinctive features. But other than her being weirded out, how was she like?
-
I once saw a guy who looked extremely like Larry LaLonde (of Primus) when I was in California in some shop. Whether it was or not, I will never know.
-

okay, should mention she wasn't in a bikini or anything like that. My teacher's kid and her kid shared a swim class together.

I've seen the bald guy from Aqua walk by me in copenhagen twice. Oh, and i saw Kasper Eistrup from Kashmir (danish band) in my local kiosk once.
yeah, copenhagen sucks for spotting obscure musicians from north america.
