Yay for good songs with clapping! Clapping should be in more songs!
The Beatles - Here Comes The Sun
The Unicorns - I Was Born (A Unicorn)
The Arcade Fire - Rebellion (Lies)
Broken Social Scene - Stars and Sons
Wolf Parade - Fancy Claps

One can argue that Katrina and the Waves' Walking on Sunshine has some great clapping. Gotta see High Fidelity to hear the clapping, though.
-
UK Subs - Party in Paris
Undertones - Teenage Kicks
And if we're allowed self promotion:
Halo of Flies - Endless Pagan Forests
Halo of Flies - Huxley Orwell Overdrive
Also, if we're allowed to include things which use 909 clap sounds, then, like, the 80's.
-
S! A! T-U-R! D-A-Y! NIGHT!
-
The end of My British Tour Diary by Of Montreal. Just any of their many clapping songs.

-
The end of My British Tour Diary by Of Montreal. Just any of their many clapping songs.
Yes, that and Disconnect the Dots.

I saw them yesterday, they made the crowd clap for like every other song. Much love.
-
Steve Reich with "Clapping Music."
I'm surprised some other snobbish concert music fan didn't beat me to it.
-

And my vote still goes to "Better Git It In Your Soul" by Charles Mingus.
-
Weird Al - Another One Rides the Bus
-
Fugazi - Public Witness Program is my favourite song with clapping - it just seems so out of place and yet it works perfectly. I also love the claps in Ted Leo/rx's "Squeaky Fingers".
-
Bingo
-
the one song by pg. 99 that starts out with a sample from an interview by kurt cobain (i know, i know...)
-
The catchiest song by Ben Lee, "Catch My Disease" has both hand claps AND foot stomps. Two for the price of one!
-
Why has "We Will Rock You" not been mentioned until now? Come on guys that is the ULTIMATE clapping song.
-
Most songs from A Tribe Called Quest especially there first album, "People's Instinctive Travels And The Paths Of Rhythm" and a great song "Devoted to the Art of Moving Butts".
-
Most energetic handclap passage ever: The Weakerthans' "Our Retired Explorer."
Also, DFA1979's "Romantic Rights" has handclaps in it. You just have to listen past the tremendously loud distorted bass.
-
Can't take my eyes off you by Frankie Valli.
-
Radiohead - We Suck Young Blood
I wanted to post that one.
Even if the song was terrible, it'd be worth it for the brilliant t-shirt it spawned, which I own.
-
Against Me - Turn Those Clapping Hands into Angry Balled Fists
Actually doesn't have any handclapping in it, but fuck it.
-
"Misadventures in Stride" by Daniel Brummel!!!!
Yeah, I registered just to post this. That song is awesome.

Any and all good '50s doo-wop.

The Meters - Handclapping Song
-
Muse - Time Is Running Out and Gypsy Kings - Djobi Djoba

Why has "We Will Rock You" not been mentioned until now? Come on guys that is the ULTIMATE clapping song.
Seconded.
Also, I'd like to add "I Feel Free" by Cream.
-
Bingo
Personally, I'm more a fan of "If you're Happy and you know it," but bingo is a good one.
-

I fucking despise that song. One of the reasons I didn't go see Queen with Paul Rogers is because they STILL end their shows with WWRY and We Are the Champions. Champions I can stand, but not as a closing track, whereas WWRY I just can't stand.
-
You took the words right out of my mouth - Meat Loaf
-
I'd like to add "I Feel Free" by Cream.
Our babies will have wonderful taste in music. Either that or they'll be tasty themselves.
-
No "I Wanna be Sedated" or "No Fun"?
-
Big Dot by They Shoot Horses, Don't They? is the best song with hand claps ever ever ever.
-
David Bowie's Space Oddity
-
"Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" by the Beatles.
(the applause at the beginning!)
-
Wednesday Night Prayer Meeting- Charles Mingus
And, uhm on the other end of the non-"indie rock" spectrum, I Got Punched In The Nose For Sticking My Face In Other People's Business- Boys Night Out
-
You took the words right out of my mouth - Meat Loaf
Aaaaah so that's what that song is called.
I agree.
-
How come no one mentioned "Live is Life" by Opus.
I thought this forum was filled with indie kids.
-
Husker Du - Turn on the News
-
Harmonium - Dixie
