I demand you all go check these guys out. If deerhoof was a little more americanized and sang songs about skateboarding and Jason Lee, this would be them.

Inarticulation and Grizzly Bear are good songs.

This isn't a coherent clause, but I see what you're getting at.  However, I fail to see how what I said amounts to insulting anyone's taste.  It's a bad band name.  To the extent that I didn't even think it was a band name; I thought it was a description of a band or a general topic for the thread.  The first time I read your post, I thought you had left out the name of the band.  That said, I really don't think it's in any way effectual to take personal offense at criticism of a band's faults.

A. It wasn't so subjective as "like" or "dislike."  My opinion was based on the practical functionality of the band name.  I know that's not all there is to a band name, but it is a consideration.

B. Snide suggests malicious intent.  It was just a goddamn joke.  No, it wasn't necessary to make a joke right off the bat.  But it's an internet message board; nothing about it is a necessity.  It was an indirect way to comment on the topic, but it was still a comment on the topic.  I fail to see how that falls outside the bounds of an internet discussion.

Downloaded their self-titled, and it really didn't do much for me. It really seemed like a flatter sounding version of Dressy Bessy or something. Not absolutely terrible by any standards, but just really not something I feel like using my time to listen to.

I feel a little concerned now, like somehow I have failed the make-out hobos test

'Jason Lee' reminds me of nineties girl pop like Belly and the Breeders (at their poppiest), which makes me happy, but the others I've downloaded have not been as good.

and est: Architecture in Helsinki are super mega awesome. Try to get the second one (In Case We Die). It's probably the best music for birthday parties, tied only with The Boy Least Likely To.
