Has anyone read the Temeraire series by Naomi Novak? I've been looking for a good fanbase, but she seems to have been sadly neglected. Her books - she has three currently, a fourth in the works - are simply amazing. It's the Napoleonic wars with dragons. If anyone's ever read the Horatio Hornblower books, or seen the movies, they remind me a bit of that. Imagine what would happen if poor Horatio found a dragon egg and bonded with the dragon inside... who just happened to be very intelligent and opinionated. Temeraire - the dragon - is honestly my favorite character. He's so smart, but also quite naive as to the ways of the world.
Seriously, if anyone has not read them, run frantically to the nearest library and grab them before they become absurdly popular and disappear. Trust me, you won't regret it!
