Title: Hipster snobs *thumbs down*
Post by: readyforafall on 17 Jan 2007, 05:06
Speaking of not being a hipster snob...

I'm sure some of you all will get a kick from this.  It's a movie that our team made for the 2006 48 Hour Film Festival in St. Louis.

Enjoy.  Tell me what you think.

As a hipster snob who is undisputedly the representative of this forum full of hipster snobs, I find this offensive.

I'm offended by the fact that you're offended, and I'm going to sue you.

If I remember to watch this tomorrow, I shall. You can count that as a half-assed promise, which is actually a really good deal, considering I didn't even charge you.

No but see, I'm at work, and the youtube is blacklisted.

The only way to be more tiresome and cliched than a hipster snob is to use the term hipster snob in a dismissive, sweeping generalization like you just did. And also, why did you begin your post with "speaking of not being a hipster snob." This was the first post in the thread, so nobody was speaking about it yet. DO YOU HAVE A TIME MACHINE OR SOMETHING?!?!?!?  :? :? :?

Perhaps.  I suspect that he is simply in denial.  After all, what people criticize in others, is often what they dislike most in themselves.

I can't garauntee that I'll watch the movie, but if I'm still awake after writing this stupid paper, I'll give it a look.

It's actually kind of entertaining.  The part with the irritated father is pretty funny.  Otherwise, it's pretty bleh.

Yeah we had to cut a ton of stuff out because of the time limit on the movie :(

We ended up with all story progression scenes and few of the scenes that I thought were genuinely funny.

I also thought that the bank manager scene was pretty classic...the post-modern job line is good.

Hmmm, maybe I am the only person that read the "Talk about music. Don't be a hipster snob." description of this under the topic heading?

It's okay if you're not observant, just don't be a dick.

I thought the pacing lagged a bit towards the end, but it was pretty entertaining. OR AM I JUST BEING IRONIC?!? AWW SHIT.

Actually I thought the dude who played the hunter was pretty dang good. The people playing the hipsters were a bit stiff though. The only bit I really laughed at was when the hipster legs it from the bar, and the camera just stays with that one shot and you see the dude duck back in to grab his cigarettes. I'm not sure why I found that so funny, but I did.

I think a lot of indie fans get labeled hipster snobs because they like the same kind of stuff hipster snobs like.

There's nothing wrong with listening to popular music.  I just hate most of it.

I do think though that a lot of people who listen to popular music would realize some of the indie stuff was better than it, if they were just exposed to it.  For instance, I was counting inventory at a clothing store the other day and heard two of the employees talking about music.  They only mentioned reasonably well known bands, but the bands they talked about the most were popular bands with indie cred like Gnarls Barkley and Fiona Apple.  I KNOW if those two were exposed to the music we were exposed to, they'd get into it too.

I am a hipster snob. And I hate fat people. So is this thread about me yet?

Seriously though, being a hipster is the best shit. It means I get to wear nicer clothes, look better, and be generally superior to everyone around me all the damn time.

undisputedly:
(adverb)
in an unarguable and undisputed manner; "you write as if this fact whilst inarguably forever condemning me to the ranks of Bohemianism nevertheless earned for me the right of entry into any company"
