TV-Links has every episode.

This series was absolutely incredible in every way.

Yeah, it superb.

There's a bunch of roughly linked shows (through writers, actors, etc.) - this, The Mighty Boosh, The IT Crowd, and Nathan Barley.  Barley's got different writers and a different style, is actually my favourite of them all, but they're all worthwhile.

Stephen Merchant makes an appearace in it, linking it to The Office and the movie Hot Fuzz!

Tommy introduced me to this show a little while back and I absolutely love it.

I still think my favourite bit is the cat saying "JUST LEAVE" at the beginning of the first episode.

Funny, that cat just told me to leave.

TV doesn't get any better than this. Must've watched the series hundreds of times over the last couple of years.

Best bit IMO is probably the pedal bike chase making the engine noises, then the ridiculous chase through the playground and the punch into the boxes at the end of it. Just an awesome sequence.

Even if you ignore the quotable stuff there's still the shocking editing, the music, the hamfisted performances and so on.  Fuck.  That opening theme really is perfect.

I've been trying to get the opening theme as a sound file to use as a ringtone for months but no joy, don't suppose anyone here knows where I could find it (or at least start looking)?

Um, if you're into computers and you're on Windows you can rip the sucker off Youtube and turn it into an MP3.  I assume it's on youtube.  I forget what you need to save the Flash video file, but to convert FLV to MP3 you could use a free thing called SUPER.  It's a bit buggy, but it's free.

Or, if you've got a soundblaster (it may work with other cards as well), get Audacity and set its input mode to 'What U Hear'. Then press record and just play the video on youtube. It will record everything that outputs through your speakers. It's how I get samples for my music. In fact, I can do it for you if you can't work it out.

I fucking LOVE Darkplace. One of the three best British TV comedies of the 00's (The others being The Mighty Boosh and Monkey Dust. I don't think I could rank them). And I say this as probably the biggest fan of cheesy British sci-fi TV on the boards.

What I've never entirely decided is whether Garth Merenghi is supposed to be a pisstake of Clive Barker, Neil Gaiman, Stephen King, or all three. There are elements there of all of them I think. The covers of his books (and the sheer number of them) are extremely reminiscent of King. He dresses a lot like Gaiman, and a lot of the actual elements of Darkplace itself could be taken as parodying the TV and film ventures of all three of them.

It's incredible how cheesy media can only be really good or really bad. You can either end up with Evil Aliens, not worth watching for any reason, unless you're paid minumum wage or more to do so, or you can find Darkplace and quit your job and spend all your time watching it because it is so awesome.

I'd heard of this vaguely someplace before, but never watched it.

My life feels more complete now that I have. Like a big hole in my body has been filled. Not in a sexual sense, but sort of like that.

If you say that again I will fucking cut you.  To quote you back at yourself.

Dr. Rick Dagless MD: "What can you tell us about apes, Pastor?"
Pastor: "Monkeys were provided by our Lord Jesus Christ for our own personal entertainment. That's all we know."
Dr. Rick Dagless MD: "But..."
Pastor: "That's all we know Rick."

Pastor [to Rick]: "You're the most sensitive man I know. And I know God."

This will only be settled with a Sapphire and Steel quote-off.

Man, I can't quote any of it, but I did watch it when it originally screened... I watched The Tomorrow People more recently.

Oh yeah, shit, totally forgot I had that Audacity thing lying around. Cheers, I'll do that.

There we go.

You absolutely had to have someone actually say that before you put it in your sig? That's silly. Couldn't you just have done this:
