Title: Mafia Round Two
Post by: Jimmy the Squid on 27 Nov 2007, 19:11
Every "night" the town goes to "sleep". During this time all main characters PM me their choices. If you are Mafia, I will tell you who your partners are and you shall discuss who you want to kill and then PM me your decision. (If you feel like coming up with how they die, feel free to suggest something, or you can let me do it.) If you are the Sheriff, you will PM me a name of someone (only one name) who you suspect is in the mafia and I will answer you with a yes or a no. If you are the Medic, you will PM me the name of the person you wish to save from attack, which can include yourself. (You will not be told who the target is, you have to guess for yourself.) If you are the village idiot or a townsperson, you don't PM me anything, just wait until the round starts. When I PM you your role, I will repeat the instructions for your role for clarity.

When the round starts, we will discover who died and how. If someone is saved, you will only find out that there was an attempt on someone's life, but I won't say who was attacked. Either way, this is when the townspeople band together and try to decide who is in the mafia. In this thread, you post who you think is in the mafia. If you suspect more than one person, you can voice that, but please only accuse one person (for trial purposes). The first person to get 5 accusations (2 when there's less than 5 people) will be put on trial. During the trial, the accused will give their testimony for their defence and then the townspeople will vote Guilty or Not Guilty. Majority rules and if found guilty, the accused is sentenced to death (removed from the game), and if found innocent, they are allowed to continue to play and we move to the next round. We play until either all the mafia members are found guilty or the mafia kills off everyone else.

As soon as we get 20 people I will put your names in a generator and randomly assign you your roles and PM them to you. I'll put the town to sleep and then awake them when I get all the key role responses.

That's how we're playing. I will send out the roles once I've randomly generated them.

Once again I must ask that the deceased and non-players post only in italics and please do not give away any spoilers.

As people die I will be striking them off the list below. So check back to this post when you want to see who's been killed and how.

When voting please use bold lettering as I'm probably doing this early in the morning/late at night and am not always going to be able to see everything.

Good luck everyone.

1. Axerton - Killed by Sherrif

2. Ampersandwitch - Poisoned by Mafia, it was a pretty rough scene.

4. Misconception - Throat-shot by town's Sherrif

Well I figured I can't stop you from posting. This way if people only want to read the posts of the people playing it makes it easier. Also I then know whose votes count.

Everyone wins!

It was a warm Summer night in Everytown, USA when the killings first began. The Mafia's first victim was out walking their dog when they noticed a black car trundling slowly up the road beside them. The backseat window rolled down and a dark voice from inside muttered something indecipherable. October1983 began walking a little faster, feeling nervous. As he rounded the corner he looked over his shoulder to see if the car was still there. It was, but it was parked and two people got out and entered one of the houses. October1983 breathed a sigh of relief, chuckling to himself over his silly nervousness. Nothing sinister ever happened in Everytown, he was probably jumping to conclusions because of that Mafia movie he was watching earlier. Almost exactly the same thing had happened in the film except that when the victim had turned the corner...

Later that night the Sherrif found october1983's body swinging from a streetlight, his face tight and swollen, the noose having cut the skin around his neck as it tightened. As the Sherrif walked to the patrol car to call in the forensic team there was a movement in the nearby alleyway. Could it be that the murderer was still in the vicinity? The Sherrif walked slowly towards the alleyway, diving behind some garbage bins as soon as the cocking of a gun was heard. After an intense firefight the Sherrif heard a strangled cry and the sound of feet pounding on the pavement, away from the scene of the crime. The Sherrif pulled out a flashlight and surveyed the grisly scene. Lying in the alley, surrounded by bullet shells was Misconception with a gaping wound in her neck. As the Sherrif drew nearer Misconception gurgled "Fuck you, Sherrif. The Mafia still owns this town..."

Two people have died tonight people but you still have to vote!

So get to it fuckers!

Wait, we've already got one of the mafia members?... that was easy.

Well, I hate to be the one to cast the first stone, but I Vote Rally Monkey, I dunno there's just something fishy about him. Also its obvious that all this trouble has been stirred up by a newcomer to the town, and he was the last person to join,  coincidence? I doubt it.

From sheriff to mafia? Talk about corruption in the police force! But I don't really know who to blame for this yet, still too early.

I'm going to vote Rally Monkey as well. I don't really suspect him yet, any more than I suspect everyone, but I'd rather hang an innocent man than have the mafia be the last ones standing again.
Title: Re: Mafia Round Two
Post by: RallyMonkey on 28 Nov 2007, 15:40
I'm confused by how the sheriff works. If s/he guesses someone who's in the mafia, the person in the mafia dies? It doesn't seem like that's what it implies in the rules.

Post by: Jimmy the Squid on 28 Nov 2007, 16:30
I'm sorry I should have mentioned the following.

The role of the Sherrif is much like the role of the Tracker in the Werewolf games. They choose someone to watch and if that person is in the Mafia, or indeed a werewolf, they get killed during the night phase. That's how it goes and the game will move quicker for it.

Addition because I'm badly organised: If the Sherrif chooses to watch the person that the Mafia targets for death then the Sherrif will also "buy it" as it were.

Title: Re: Mafia Round Two

What, you're going to fall for that? it's reverse reverse psychology, mafia members say they did it hoping that we'll think that they'd never be stupid enough to give themselves away.

Well I'm not falling for it: Guilty
Title: Re: Mafia Round Two
Post by: jhocking on 28 Nov 2007, 19:18

So wait, first you jump on the bandwagon to get him on trial, and then you change your mind on a whim? Remember how many rounds were wasted in the last game by putting someone on trial and then setting them free?

Frankly, I think the whole "vote for them twice" thing is stupid. Werewolves was much more effective; vote once, move to the next round.

At the end of the trial the townspeople decide that Rallymonkey be put to death. Some argue that he is too simple to have commited the heinous murder, others claiming that yes, he is an idiot but that doesn't change the fact that he brutally killed an innocent man.

As RallyMonkey is led away to the shark tank he hums to himself happily, seemingly unaware of the fate that awaits him. As he is led up the stairs the townspeople here him protest to the guards that he isn't wearing a swimming costume and couldn't possibly get in the water with his clothes on, it just isn't done. After a few minutes one of the guards hits him on the back of the head, knocking him unconcious. One of the guards takes a small penknife and slits both of RallyMonkeys wrists, letting the blood drip into the already frothing water tank. The crowd watches grimly as the young man is thrown into the tank, taking satisfaction that justice was done. Some turn away from the sight of the body being torn apart. Others watch still as the water turns a deep red and the thrashing continues.

Sleep now townspeople. Dream fitful, torrid dreams of the man you put to death and hope to whatever god you hold dear that you made the right decision.

Roles, PM me your decisions. The game continues.

Title: Re: Mafia Round Two
Post by: Jimmy the Squid on 30 Nov 2007, 00:43
You wouldn't believe.

As the town recovered from the grisly events of the past few days things began to get a little more relaxed. The sky seemed clearer and the birds chirped happily. One person who wasn't so relaxed was the soon-to-be-annihilated Ampersandwitch. She had been receiving death threats for weeks and had yet to tell anyone of the harrowing nights she had spent, terrified at every sound.
It was late afternoon when it happened. The sun was setting and Ampersandwitch was sitting on her verandah with a fresh cup of coffee. She breathed in the dark aroma and the satisfying heat of the cup spread from her hands up to her shoulders and into her heart. She was not shaking for the first time in days and was determined to relax. After a few deep breaths she managed to spill a good portion of the hot liquid all over herself as she jumped when the phone rang inside the house. Swearing loudly she put the cup down and ran inside. On the other end of the phone was a man from one of the charities she regularly donated to, asking if she would like to take part in a raffle. By the time she managed to get rid of him Ampersandwitch found her coffee had cooled. She settled herself back into her chair, unaware of the shadowy figures hiding in the bushes. As she took a sip of the still warm liquid she looked down and noticed a small envelope lying on the wooden boards of the verandah. Sure that it was another note she tried desparately to ignore it and enjoy her coffee but still her hands trembled. As the minutes ticked by her hands began to shake more and more. Steadying herself she drained the cup and picked up the envelope. Inside was a slip of paper with a single word that had been painstakingly written in delicate lettering. Bleed. Ampersandwitch dropped the note as she noticed her hands throbbing and shaking even more. Blood had started to leak from underneath her fingernails, touching her hands to her upper lip, they came away bloody.

The police would later discover that she had been poisoned, the chemical agent that was slipped into her coffee cup thinning her blood until it ran from her eyes and ears and eventually through the very pores of her skin. But who would have wanted to hurt the poor, innocent girl?

Well? Who?
Title: Re: Mafia Round Two
Post by: thegreatbuddha on 30 Nov 2007, 01:04
Ampersandwitch would have been my first guess. I probably would have been wrong. I have no idea

I bet he did it. He looks and sounds guilty. Not Guilty

I'm willing to wager that RallyMonkey was anything but the village idiot. Lord Nagash all but proclaimed Rally Monkey's guilt from the hilltops, and then tried to acquit him 3 hours after the final guilty vote had been cast?

I vote Lord Nagash, just for being contrary.
Title: Re: Mafia Round Two
Post by: McTaggart on 30 Nov 2007, 02:12
Dude I never got a PM.

I call shenanigans. Clearly this is a brilliant ploy to get people to assume his innocence. So brilliant, in fact, that I found myself believing it for the smallest fraction of a second; but only for that long. A mind so sharp as to concieve the idea but not sharp enough to predict the consequences is the perfect profile of a mafia member. They see the quick and relatively easy money (if you can stomach the chores) but do not see the quick retribution that will come to them if there is ever a cause to suspect them.

I accuse Ballard of conspiracy to murder in the least, though more heinous crimes than this would not surprise me.

[edit]bold'd

Post by: supersheep on 30 Nov 2007, 03:28
That'd only work if we knew that the ordinary townspeople didn't get a PM, which I had to ask our narrator about. So I don't think so. It would be a clever double bluff though.

I vote Axerton. First person to cast a stone, which is always a dodgy position I know, but the reasoning behind his actions makes me suspicious.

LordNagash you have 7 Guilty votes from your fellow townspeople amd are hereby put to death.

LordNagash looked shocked when the verdict was passed down. As he was led to the Boobox he continuously proclaimed his innocence, yelling that yes, he had had a grudge against Ampersandwitch and yes, he wished he had killed her but that it wasn't him. He even admitted to sending the threatening letters but claimed he had never had the opportunity to follow through with his threats. Still kicking and screaming he was forced into the large black box and the lid was closed after him. The townspeople could still hear his somewhat muffled screams of terror and pain as scorpians were dropped into the box with him, one at a time, through a small hole in the top. The box began to shake violently and the screams increased in pitch and intensity but before long all was silence and the townspeople began to walk away.

I hope you all made the wrong decision. You might think that was a typo but I want you all to feel guilty, also it was a typo but I decided to run with it.

Go to bed you bloodthirsty lot and Roles, PM me your decisions.

Title: Re: Mafia Round Two
Post by: Jimmy the Squid on 02 Dec 2007, 14:01
For several days the town had been "all a tither" over the magistrate's brutal methods concerning the Mafia murders, some claimed the bizarre executions were too much, others claimed they were a fitting demise for those foul murderers. At any rate no one could deny that they were not humane, for the witnesses that is, because they're not boring. However because of the protests the magistrate agreed to go with a more traditional execution style in the future.

On the eve of her 23rd birthday, Mrs N.P. Character went to the local Italian restaurant for a fancy meal. It had been months since she had been out for dinner because of a string of events that shall not be explained here. Suffice to say that she was forced to do things she was not proud of and she's not answering any more questions.
Anyway, she went to the restaurant and ordered the Veal Neopolitana. When it was brought to her table she took her time eating it, savouring the flavour. Afterall, she didn't know when she'd get to do this again. As the amount of food began to decrease as, in an interesting case of negative correlation, the food in her stomach began to increase she noticed an odd flavour to the dish. She had never tried veal before but had not expected it to taste so...sweet. Very soon she let out a small yelp of surprise as she bit down on something hard and round. She spat the thing out into her hand and looked at it. Covered in neopolitana sauce was a small silver ring. Looking down into her bowl she noticed something else. The tip of a finger poking out through the pasta.

The police told her that she was not the only one who had found this nasty surprise. Many people in the restaurant that night had discovered human remains in their meal and worse yet, others hadn't. DNA testing from several of the unfinished dishes confirmed the identity of the person whose finger it was that Mrs Character had found.

Not only has the Mafia killed McTaggart but they've managed to have a popular ethnic restaurant closed down pending health and saftey checks!

Who could have done such a thing? Make your vote count people and consider the Hong Kong Kitchen for your next family outing!

Title: Re: Mafia Round Two
Post by: Jimmy the Squid on 02 Dec 2007, 14:29
Well for one, pasta was invented by the Chinese and the Italians stole it. Oh and the Italian Stallion, which I have just decided is the name of the Italian restaurant, got shut down. This isn't a large town, they only have two restaurants.

I find it hard to believe that either of you would be the killer, it would just be way too coincidental that the first person to die in the last round or the narrator of the last round would be mafia.

J'accuse Tyler! Looks like he wants Linds out of the way for some reason, seeing as I looked over the past 10 or so posts that show up at the bottom of my reply window, and he's the only one who used all caps.

That you did Ballard, that you did.

The town, having decided Ballard's guilt, proceeded to the top of the town hill. Ballard, his hands in chains proceeded with them with his head hung low, whimpering occasionally. The heavy sound of nails being driven into wood met the townspeople's ears before they reached the crest. Ballard came to a stop between the two guards that had been frogmarching him up the hill. His head still lowered he began to cry softly, tears rolling down his face.

"I didn't do it." He said as he was lifted up and placed inside the barrel. "You have to believe me, I didn't do it! I couldn't kill anyone!!"

The townspeople remained grimly silent, the tension in the air so thick it seemed to press against everyone's eardrums. Ballard hunkered down in the barrel, making himself as small as possible, avoiding the sharp points of the nails that had been hammered through the sides.

"Please." He whispered. "Don't do this. Please..."

The lid was placed on top of the barrel and nailed shut. Ballard's muffled sobs were still audible to the townspeople standing on the hill. As the last nail was hammered down one of the guards stepped forward. The wind howled in a menacing way and shook the branches of some nearby trees until it got bored and went off to cause someone in the neighbouring town to lose their rather fine bowler hat.
The guard placed his foot on the side of the barrel, readied himself and gave it a heavy kick, sending the barrel tumbling down the hillside. Ballard's screams reached the top of the hill for a moment before they were snatched away by the wind, which had unexpectedly returned to howl in the trees some more, but had fell short long before the barrel came to rest at the foot of the hill.

The townspeople went back to their homes that night, grim and taciturn but satisfied that justice had been done. Hopefully.

Roles, PM me stuff!

This gives "do a barrel roll" a whole new meaning.

Check the first page.

Since the killings began the once quiet, idyllic community of Everytown had been, well quiet and idyllic, but in recent weeks things had begun to change. The skies seemed darker, the wind harsher and the people less friendly. Everyone suspected everyone else and who could blame them? It seemed that the Mafia were intent on tearing the whole town apart, without any discernable pattern. The police were baffled, the townspeople were baffled, the townspeople's pets probably didn't realise what was going on but if they did they too would have been baffled.

One man who was as equally baffled as the rest of the townsfolk was IronOxide. Often he would sit at home being completely baffled by the harrowing events of recent weeks, sometimes he would walk around being baffled but mostly he sat at home. On one particular occasion when he chose to be baffled outside he was himself killed by the Mafia. What follows is an account of what happened.

For the first time since Ballard's bizzare and archaic executuion it had stopped raining. The sun was out and the birds were singing, albeit somewhat tentatively. IronOxide was briskly strollng down the street mulling things over in the sunshine. Who could be commiting these foul murders and if the town had made the right decisions exectuing those poor people then would the violence stop? It was probably safe to assume that yes, the violence would stop. Just as IronOxide was safely assuming this a car pulled up beside him and the window rolled down. A voice issued from inside the car saying
"Excuse me, young man. Could you direct me to mmreemmghsmmerm?"
IronOxide took a step closer to the car, "I'm sorry, where are you going?"
"I'm going to mmmmremmmmurmmmmem."
Once more IronOxide took a step closer to the car. "So sorry," he said. "Where is it you're go-AHHHHHGERROFNOHELPOHGODNOFUCKINGARRRRRHGGHH!"
IronOxide's head had been pulled inside the window and the window rolled up. As IronOxide struggled to free himself the car began to roll forwards, picking up speed. IronOxide knew he was about to die so he looked up, straight into the face of the person holding his head.
"It was you!" He screamed. "You killed all those people." He had stopped struggling now and was running to keep up with the car, fishing about in his pockets for something.
"Yes it was us. Don't bother asking why though, we don't know ourselves. It simply must be."
Just then the car swerved violently and the driver turned the wheel to maximum fastness slammed down the accelerator. IronOxide turned his head slightly and saw what was ahead.

The forensics team thought they would have a hard time identifying the body considering that the head was nowhere to be found but the murderers had kindly left the wallet of IronOxide in his trousers so it wasn't as hard as they expected. When the Sherrif arrived at the scene one of the nameless forensics investigators showed the Sherrif the most conclusive piece of evidence they had seen. Scrawled on IronOxide's arm with a black marker were two words. Mafia and axerton.

The Sherrif kicked in the door to axerton's apartment. Axerton looked up from where he was sitting in mild surprise.
"What seems to be the problem, officer?"
"Axerton, you are under arrest for the murder of IronOxide, the murder of Ampersandwitch, the murder of october1983 and the murder of McTaggart. You have the right to remain silent, anything you do say can be used against you in the court of law. You have the right to an attorny, if you cannot afford one one will be provided for you."
"That's so cute." Axerton said, smiling. "You think I'm coming quietly!"

With lightning speed axerton pulled out a pistol and began firing. The Sherrif dived behind the relative cover of the couch, firing wildly. For a moment there was silence. When the Sherrif looked over the top of the couch it was obvious that axerton was dead, three of the Sherrif's shots having pierced his chest and one in the shoulder. As axerton's body slid down the wall to slump on the floor the Sherrif thought a word had escaped the Mafia members lips. But it was unclear what the word was.*

Your town Sherrif has taken out another Mafia member but there were still others involved! Don't get complacent. Cast your votes, gentle townspeople. CAST THEM I SAY!

*The word was "Damn."

This post is my proof of Boro_Bandito's guilt.  Once again, someone tries to hide behind the "no message first round" business.  Additionally, this person voted against Ballard's guilt, one of few who did so.  Few enough that it would be comparable to the number of remaining mafia.  Also, he was delving in to threats towards the end of that post.

Basically, suspicious.  And suspicion is our best ally at this stage in the game.

Last game there were four.  But there were also less people.  So either four or five for this round.  But, then, two have been killed for certain, and I'd like to hope that we've picked off at least one, maybe two, through our votes.  So maybe one or two left?  Of course, possibly as many as three.

Though I suppose Jimmy could have gone crazy and made more than five mafia members.

Sorry, I've had projects and papers running me into the ground , finals week sucks. Right, Defense then:

I'm going to come out right here and say it, I love you all. I have absolutely no ill will towards any of you. Even if I was a member of the mafia I doubt I could even give out the order to kill anyone, I don't like hurting things. I feel like I have been made a scapegoat for these crimes just because its convenient, and not the truth. The truth is my hippocratic oath stops me, by stating "do no harm." That's right, I'm the medic, Dr. Boro_bandito at your service. By killing me you'd be making it more and more likely that you yourself will be killed.

I don't remember their being anywhere in the rules saying that I'm not allowed to say who I am, because I've never actually played this game in real life or anything, and I suppose I could be lying if I were the village idiot or a member of the mafia. But I'll die and the killings will continue, and noone will be saved from death by my hands. If that is your wish, I am powerless to stand against it. However, know that I well and most wholeheartedly declare my innocence. Thank you, good night. I have another paper and a take home final to finish.

By revealing myself, I have become a target. know that if you do count me as innocent I will continue to do my job rather than save myself, meaning it would keep more of you from death longer either way.

The townspeople convened and moved by the words of Boro Bandito believed his plea of innocence which was great for me because I'm low on ideas for executions at the moment. Anyway, Boro Bandito you are free to go.

Townspeople to sleep, roles PM me your thingies.

Nono, you misunderstood that, I've never saved myself. true, I've been wrong about who was going to die every night so far, but with fewer of us hopefully that'll change. And actually it would just be plain stupid for the mafia not to target me tonight, because I really won't save myself, but then it would look really bad if I didn't die tonight. I'm a dead man no matter what.

I'll PM my decision when my head stops spinning from the lack of sleep finals week has put upon me.

The mood of Everytown had risen since Boro Bandito had been found innocent. Sure no one had been punished for the murders but it was good to see that the town hadn't devolved into a pack of execution-happy nutbags. The Mafia obviously found this a perfect moment to strike and remind people of their presence for as the sun rose one fine morning it lit upon a grisly scene in the town square. As the crowds grew the town officials took it upon themselves to do a head count of who was there to determine who had been killed. The remaining townspeople gathered around the fountain, it's waters red with blood. They shied away from the walls which were covered in bloody handprints that looked as if someone had been trying to climb to saftey.
Once the police had finished checking every last townspersons presence against the latest census it became clear who was the last night's victim for Gemmwah was no where to be found. As the townspeople filed out of the small square they did their best to avoid a large section of the area which the police had cordoned off. In large reddy-brown letters a phrase was scrawled on the flagstones, marring their otherwise pure whiteness (the square had recently been refurbished). The message left by the mafia, in the blood and organs of their latest victim was unsettling at best.

None shall be spared.

This is my defense, then. I have killed two people in this game. TWO. Why? Because I'm the sheriff, that's why. Misconception I just couldn't trust for some reason from the get go and I felt that Axerton was being suspicious. So yes, with my sharpshooting skills, I shot two mafia members. I would have rather not let you guys know my role, as it's dangerous for me, but I don't want to be killed now, especially when I've had pretty good luck so far with figuring people out. I can also tell you who I discovered to be innocent, if you folks would like.

Who knows. Certainly feels like it's dying...

This is the order I guessed in, since Boro asked:
Misconception - mafia and now dead
supersheep - not mafia
Iron Oxide - not mafia
Axerton - mafia and now dead
I is Grammar - not mafia

And it's not a tactic, this is me trying to save my ass because though I am not sure how many mafia members there are, I've probably killed more mafia than the rest of you.

Post by: Jimmy the Squid on 04 Jan 2008, 19:02
Sorry guys, I wish I could say I've been really busy or something like that but I've just not been on the net that much. Anyway here we go!

Despite the murders and executions continuing unabated the townspeople of Everytown were all beginning to relax, which we all know was probably not the best idea, over the Christmas/Kwanza/Hannukah/Solstice/Ramadan season. Families got together, people ate food and exchanged gifts, it was almost as if this was a different town, one not about to be rocked by another grizzly murder. On the other hand, it even felt like the Mafia either had the good taste not to kill anyone over the holidays or that they too were spending the past weeks with their families, tearing the wrapping off of new brass knuckles and tommy-guns. Sitting down to a roasted stool pidgeon turkey, I assume this is how Christmas with the Mafia goes, but I digress.

Boro Bandito had been claiming that he was the medic for a while now, so much so that it got him off death row (apparently there is only one doctor in this town?). Whether he was or not is largely irrelevant now because evidently the medic hadn't saved anyone's lives and if Boro's claims were true, he also could not save himself. Just after New Year's Day, Boro was getting ready to be somewhere (though I have no idea where) when he heard a knock at his door. One of the few people with their wits about them in this town he went to the window instead and was surprised to see a courier standing at his door, holding a box of reasonable size. Cautiously Boro opened the door. The courier said that he was delivering a package for a Mr B. Bandito and that could Boro sign for it if Mr Bandito wasn't in. Boro signed for the box and tipped the courier a fiver, which was nice. The courier was just jumping into his little courier van when it nearly toppled over from the force of the explosion. The windows had burst outwards and everything in Boro's house was aflame.

As it turns out the courier company had long been suspected of being a Mafia Front business so the town Sherrif went to invesitgate. The Sherrif was surprised to find paperwork that was all in order and seemed to be completely legitimate. One thing did seem odd though, Boom Couriers apparently specialised in the shipping of explosives. As the Sherrif continued to look around the dark warehouse, raised voices were heard from one of the offices above. As the Sherrif got nearer it sounded like someone on the phone (or talking to a mute perhaps) as it was a rather one sided conversation. However it became obvious from the subject of the conversation that something illegal was afoot. Here is that the Sherrif heard:

"This town is a bunch of fuckin' rubes. We'll clear it out in no time. Yeah he's taken care of... Well then we better hope he was the medic like he said he was. Good work by the way, Boro fell for the package routine like nobody's business.
Hey! Don't go getting no cold feet now, this town is ours and soon every single one of those bastards will be dead. Now if you wanna back out that's fine with me but just so you know, you'll be sleepin' with the fishes, see?"

That was enough for the Sherrif. Bursting through the door, gun held high and screaming "Freeze! Police!" always worked in the films and this time was only slightly different because when the Sherrif tried it this time, even though it was very dramatic and the door gave way very nicely, Dark Flame was ready and shot the Sherrif in the arm. The Sherrif dived behind the couch to the left, only to find that there was no other furniture in the room aside from the desk that Dark Flame was sitting behind - it was all very embarrassing. As the Sherrif stood up, one arm raised, the other bleeding profusely and held close, Dark Flame giggled like a school-girl which, creepy as it was, was also a little embarrassing. Words were exchanged, too filthy to reproduce here but the gist of it was the Sherrif accusing Dark Flame of being Mafia and Dark Flame saying "No shit." Eventually Dark Flame did the whole "Now I'm going to have to kill you" Bond Villain type thing and a lengthy fire fight ensued, beginning with the Sherrif diving through the frosted glass window of the office and ending with Dark Flame being shot in the eye.

Apparently the Sherrif's word is enough for an inquest not to be held but there are still Mafia members left to execute so why don't you townspeople convene or something and let me know who needs to be killed in the name of justice.

Title: Re: Mafia Round Two
Post by: Jimmy the Squid on 11 Jan 2008, 04:56
It would seem that the town was becoming more merciful as it became more and more apparent that their numbers were dwindling, no one had been executed for weeks and yet the murders continued. For a few days it was quiet until one of the town's garbagemen found a trashcan filled with the partially dissolved remains of a human body. Eventually the DNA testing revealed that the murder victim was one of the most vocal anti-Mafia voices in the once peaceful town. Someone, were their claims true, who had conceivably done more to rid the town of organised crime than the ridiculous and farcical trials that more often than not resulted in the premature and violent deaths of innocent townsfolk. Someone who may yet have been able to save the floundering town.

It was Linds.

I really think she's referring to the ones other than those she killed. She was murdered by the mob, she wasn't trying to mislead anyone unless she was the Town Idiot, which I doubt.

I was talking about the bastard/s I haven't caught yet. Tricksie moffia...its.

I was sheriff. I was not an idiot. This is obvious by my record of shooting to kill.

Well, he's never actually admitted either of us are who we are if you didn't notice, he just claimed the sheriff knew when to shoot and kill and that a guy claiming he was Medic got blown up. I imagine he will reveal all at the end of the game though, when and if it ever happens. Besides, me knowing who I am has done a fat lot of good hasn't it?

Yep, thegreatbuddha now has a majority guilty vote so that means he gets killed.

It basically took the town forever to come to a decision but after all the deliberations, the petty arguments and the rampant absenteeism, a verdict was reached. thegreatbuddha was sentenced to death by crushing. As Big Fucking Rock™ after Big Fucking Rock™ was laid upon his chest, thegreatbuddha remained, somewhat fittingly, quite tranquil. Neither denying nor decrying the murder he allowed the massive stones to be placed upon his chest as the town watched on. After some time sickening cracking sounds were heard from around thegreabuddha's midsection and an empty glazed look came into his eyes. The townspeople stoically watched on as more and more rocks were placed on and around the corpse. Eventually a sign was hammered into the ground before the makeshift tomb.

Here lies thegreatbuddha
a murdering scumbad to the end.
The world will not mourn his passing.

Roles PM me some decisions! Everyone else, get to bed!

No it isn't. I just got a new job and have been distracted of late, I sincerly apologise to the people still playing the game and will try to wrap this up before uni starts.

The remaining townspeople had stopped leaving their homes. Garbage begun to pile up on the streets, stray dogs roamed around growling at each other to pass the time. Occasionally a bird would chirp only to have the other animals look at it sternly as if to say "Is that really appropriate right now?"
The day was bright. The sun shone glaringly out of the blue sky (as opposed to the green sky? Whatever.) and reflected even more glaringly off of the fresh snow that had fallen the night before.
Supersheep's boots made the crunching noise that boots make when the person wearing them walks across hard packed snow, which was odd since the snow wasn't hard packed at all but rather loose, almost fluffy. He knew he might not be particularly safe, what with all the murders but the streets seemed so quiet lately and he thought he would go mad if he stayed indoors any longer. Just down to the square. Supersheep kept thinking. Just down to grab something from the store and I'll be home in five minutes.
The trip was largely uneventful and Supersheep returned to his home in safety. Once he closed the door behind him he breathed a sigh of relief. A strong hand clamped down on his mouth, an arm snaked around his body holding his arms tight to his sides and a familiar voice whispered in his ear.
"Tell me, friend. Did you ever dance with the Devil in the pale moonlight?"
The fuck? That's from Batman!
Supersheep struggled as he felt his hands being bound with electrical tape. Suddenly he was on the floor, face up and squirming. His legs bound now as well, a strip of tape over his mouth. Panic overtook him and he struggled wildly and struggled even more when he saw the tip of a knife move towards his left eye, ever so slowly. With ease and grace Supersheep's attacker inserted the blade into the bottom of Supersheep's eye socket. The blade was so sharp it almost didn't hurt, until it did. The attacker moved gently, almost lovingly as Supersheep's eyes were removed. He screamed a muffled scream as he felt himself being hauled to his feet. He heard the click of a lock and his face felt warm until a cold wind slapped him in his already throbbing face, cooling the warm blood running down his cheeks. In one swift motion the attacker cut through Supersheeps bonds. Supersheep didn't know what to think, was he being released?  Was this some sort of sick message? He felt a sharp, deadly pain in his stomach and he fell to his knees onto the warm wet pavement... Warm? Supersheep began to feel very lightheaded as he reached down, recoiling slightly as his fingers brushed against something slippery and tube-ish. He knew now. He knew he was going to die, even as he scrabbled, grappling with the long, fleshy pipes trying to fit them back in to his gut. It didn't even hurt any more and he let out an aguished scream that was more of a frightened gurgle.

Start voting.

Jimmy...you know you just want to end it. Rocks fall, everyone dies. It's just so easy. I mean, they doomed themselves to this by allowing the removal of Phil and myself.

Come on. Say it with me. Rocks fall, everyone dies. Yaaaaaaaaaaay!

Ok we're done here. It's pretty obvious no one wants to play but I wanted to see this one through because you guys actually came close to something notable.

Unfortunately Linds, Everytown, USA is not in a particularly mountainous region so a rock fall is pretty unlikely. However, the sudden appearence of a very angry band of centaurs left the town in a pretty sorry state. Everybody was killed by either arrows of trampling or both. Usually both. The upshot of the whole thing is that centaurs were finally found to be actual living creatures which were then hunted to extinction by the Greeks. I don't anybody saw that coming.

Anyway here is the cast.
If there is another game I guess I'll watch.

1. Axerton - Killed by Sherrif - MAFIA

2. Ampersandwitch - Poisoned by Mafia, it was a pretty rough scene. - TOWNSPERSON

3. october1983 - Strung up by Mafia - TOWNSPERSON

4. Misconception - Throat-shot by town's Sherrif - MAFIA

5. Ballard - Executed; did a barrel roll. - TOWNSPERSON

6. thegreatbuddha - Executed; Fucking Crucible'd man! - MAFIA

7. Linds - Killed by Mafia; murdered in an unexplained fashion, dissolved in acid and left in a trash can. - SHERRIF

8. StMonkey - TOWNSPERSON

9. KTkat - TOWNSPERSON

10. Gemmwah - Killed by Mafia; Cthulu F'tagened in the town square. - TOWNSPERSON

11. Supersheep - Dennis Nedry'd by Mafia - TOWNSPERSON

12. stella - TOWNSPERSON

13. I is Grammar - TOWNSPERSON

14. Blue Kitty - MAFIA

15. Dark Flame - Shot by the Sherriff
But was not shot by the Deputy... - MAFIA

16. McTaggart - killed by Mafia; chopped up and made into several fine meals. - TOWNSPERSON

17. LordNagash - Executed by townspeople; Film-referenced to death. - VILLAGE IDIOT

18. Boro Bandito - killed by Mafia; His house asplode! - MEDIC

So if the sheriff figured out someone in the Mafia, they automatically ended up dead? Because had we done that last round the townspeople would have owned since I guessed all but one of the Mafia. Pffft.

Every time I've played in real life the sheriff can find out who's in the Mafia with a good guess, but then they have to convince the townspeople to vote with them.

Fuck, I forgot to make a vote to keep it going.  I would have really loved to drive off into the sunset in the end, avoiding the dead bodies lying in the street.
Title: Re: Mafia Round Two
Post by: Jimmy the Squid on 19 Feb 2008, 03:59
yeah I got a little confused between Werewolves and Mafia. The upshot of it all was that the game moved faster and was a little more interesting, though coming up with different body parts to be fatally shot in is tough work! At any rate it was all a happy accident!

And BK, I would have had you swerving all over the road so you could squish heads.
