I'm gonna be in Sydney from this Sunday for 10 days.
Any of you wanna meet up for a drink/go to a gig/hang out?
Send me a PM here or on Aurostion. I'll probably be picking up an Australian sim card so I can get in touch with people.
I'm keen to hangout with some QC people.

Woo, much fun will be had by all. I'll see if my brother is playing any gigs with his punk band and there will be hang-outs. Too bad Fatty is in 'Nam for your entire visit (I think she's avoiding you).

You live in Newtown right? I'll be in North Sydney, only about a 1 stage train ride away so I can come visit reasonably easily.
Need to get myself some new shoes and a new coat. Any recommendations? Not gallery Serpentine, too expensive and not really my style... well kinda my style. But yeah.

Newtown is pretty good for shopping, though a little dear! It's close to everyone [except me!] Have you been to Sydney much before?

I guess it depends on what kind of thing you're after. Holy Moley might have some stuff so we'll check there. In Visible Light is also a good option. At any rate we can hang out and go shopping. It'll be totally manly.

I would totally be up for hangouts! I am pretty busy with work but I will do what I can to get up one night or wrangle a day off or something. Should we all just PM you our mobile numbers or something?

Yeah, I'll be in Sydney from the 17th to the 20th, so we should definitely do something fun! Meetups are always a good time, as we have proven on multiple occasions.

I remember them being about 15 minutes walk from town.
What about UNSW? How close are they? I've gotta go talk to them about post grad.

UNSW is a busride away from my flat, also my brother is playing a show on the 19th that we should see (think fast paced Ramones era punk with The Beach Boys thrown in).

Tommy, the scary thing is that we actually have people who look like that in Australia, and there are way more than I would like to think about. This is why I stay in the cities and never venture out in the country. You are likely to be attacked.

Thing is, most of them are probably really friendly people, just slightly stupid.

The reason I'm not coming to Brisbane is because Sydney was free for me to get to and has a decent music scene. Brisbane on the otherhand is expensive, full of red necks and is my very idea of hell on earth.
Plus all my relatives live there and I don't particular want to see them this time around.
I don't have a camera so it's up to you guys to do snaps!

Our accommodation has been moved and we're now staying on Pitt St in central. This is good cause it means no matter how late I go out I can always walk back at worst.
Trekking back to North Sydney would have been a bit shit.
Plus it keeps my transport costs down. w00t.

I think you'll the evidence is very much to that effect. We are not only better but also less likely to punch kittens, kick sick children and rape whales. Science has pretty much proven conclusively that city people are better.
More stressed, less healthy and over worked but generally better.
At least that's what I tell myself.

Um no the scary thing is that I lived in Ipswich for 6 months and it was basically a coin toss between whether Brisbane or Ipswich would be the capital of Queensland, and that that is actually a pretty reasonable snippet of the population of the Switch. In fact, if you were at the local pub those ladies would be the most attractive prospects in the entire place.

I had a most excellent time in Sydney, thanks everyone for hanging with me.
Just to dispell any arguements, I'm approximately 193-4cm tall, that's approx 6 foot 3ish. Not that big, just the Aussie ladies were both tiny. Heather too but she's only a proxy Aussie :P

Before she moved here Heather was, like, 7ft. tall. She shrunk when she arrived in Australia. You've gotta be small and tough to survive here. Smaller target for all the snakes, you see!
