Title: Longboard skateboards
Post by: Jposh on 25 Jan 2008, 11:08
Anyone have one? Any good brands? Experiences?

I'm looking at getting this one:
Dregs - Ode to Joy (http://www.a1skateboards.com/product.asp?product=1FDRE0ALJO00000)

Longboards are pretty damned fun, though I can't see myself throwing down nearly $100 on a skateboard (again). I do want to get one someday.

I have this nice Sector 9 board and it is hell of fun. Despite sucking at regular skating I could probably get really proficient at longboarding if the weather here was nicer more often.

No I'm just in a ridiculously sucky part of California. I think we have the worst air quality besides LA? Anywhere else is much nicer.

a friend of mine had a few longboards when I was in high school, and I had a lot of fun on them cause the hills around here aren't stupidly steep. Every now and then I'll think about getting one but then I end up holding off.

A bunch of my friends longboard, and they seem to like the Loaded Vanguard.  (http://"http://www.loadedboards.com/newsite_v1/vanguard.html") It's a really fun board. It's super bouncy, I could waste hours just jumping on that thing.

On the subject of longboards, another one of my friends got this (http://"http://www.longboardlarry.net/boards/adamsoldskooldancer.php#") the other day. It's ridiculous.

Now, I plan on getting one that was custom made by someone in California. His company is called Fly 1, and if I don't get it, I'll probably get a sector 9, or that Dreg.

My friend has a Sector 9, and it's bouncy, and long, but it still turns well, and anytime he brings it to school, I use it to get from class to class, because most of our campus is open air.

I ask "why" because I am not sure why anyone over the age of seven would be interested in purchasing a waveboard. Anyone who rides them just ends up looking kind of like a dumb ass.

You can propel yourself on a skateboard without having to push, but pushing is fun!

I asked why, because I don't like them, if only for the fact that they make you look retarded, and there's a kid at my school who has one, and I can't stop making fun of it....

Waveboards seem totally limited to what you can do, You can't haul ass, you cany jump high/do a flip (I have done both these things on a longboard  :-D) and waveboards remind me of snakeboards in that the fad will die. Fast. I had a snakeboard knockoff which seems like a similar idea and quickly went back to my skateboard which you don't need to step off to get going, tick-tac produces a similar amout of ass-haulage to waveboarding and you can put your foot down to pump.

So my mom just bought me this Fly 1 "Happy Skulls" (http://cgi.ebay.com/longboard-skateboard-longboard-deck-fly1_W0QQitemZ170189406459QQihZ007QQcategoryZ79781QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem), but in blue, with a set of tracker trucks, and Gum ball wheels. The thing is, they only come in Pink, so they wont go with the blue on my board =[

But, either way is good, I didn't pay for it.

My skateboard set-up has pink wheels! Then again, the deck and trucks are black and white so maybe it looks better than it would with blue.

But they are bitchin' wheels.

Well, I guess there the highest rated, best, and most durable longboard wheels.

They have really good grip, but are practically indestructible.

They sound kind of neat, except for the bright pink part....
