As much as the Ridiculous Decadency thread, and its wavering off course, might have disgusted you, it inspired me! It made me want to see everyone in their finest thread couture (or threads Value Village) making imaginative oufits. I'm sure everyone's got an ensemble or two that they wear (or not) and think are pretty fucking neat. So, let's share and encourage vain creativity.
Here's one to get the ball rolling; I think Cyndi Lauper is to blame for this one:

I'd post a picture of me in my good shirt but for some scientifically inexplicable reason, it's covered with a great many little blood stains...
-
"Me In My Good Shirt" is not particularly creative anyways.
I enjoy dressing creatively but I have to wear all black six days and nights a week so it's pretty tough.
Here are some of my favourite outfits:

I, um, holy shit.
(girls on the internet are not real girls on the internet are not real girls on the internet are not real)
-
um, so, i was thinking of posting something... but then i decided i would really rather not be the one to follow lunchy's post.
-
Whaaat that is a crap excuse Mai. Get posting! You have some awesome styles!
-
I can't post mine, they aren't PG-13
-
Fucking hell.
Ally,

Shut your trap and make with the snap.
-
I was thinking about posting this in the Decadancy thread earlier, but this is a better home for it.
Also I tried to look all modely in this picture and it didn't really work.

I'll try make up another one this morning as I get ready.
-
ok fine i'll stop pretending to be modest.

this was sitting around in my flickr. whenever i wear this shirt i feel like i should be listening to panda bear.
-
Damn Sam.
YES, HELLO, LIFE IS AWESOME
-
Right, Lunchbox (Or Ally, as it may be)
It's too bad that everyone on the internet is really a 50 year old man in Pittsburgh. Otherwise I would have to comment on how attractive you are.
-
This thread needs more dude style.
Get on it dudes.
-
Lunchy, I want yr pink pants. And sweater.
-
This thread needs more dude style.
Get on it dudes.
It's hard to be a big dude and be stylish. =/
-
Also hard to be a big girl and be stylish (even more so if you're not into the whole typical big girl-style that most tv shows etc recommend). Working on it, though! One of my greatest motivations (aside from the whole feeling better-factor), is being able to buy niiice clothes.
-
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v368/thehollow/people16.jpg)
This is about as stylish as my clothes get- jeans and a t-shirt. As you can probably tell, I don't try very hard with my clothes, I wear what's comfortable and cheap. This picture was for my roommate's web portfolio for a photo class he took; coincidentally, I wore the exact same outfit yesterday.
-
It'd be better if we could see the image! :-)
-
thanks, fixed now. stupid photobucket adding the image tags automatically.
-
Thehollow, that is quite possibly the least creative thing imaginable. Terrible work.
I am going to throw something together for this thread out of the ridiculous range of shit we have in our dress up cupboard. I expect the results to be appalling.
-
Okay, so maybe I was too nice before when I introduced this thread. If you're not doing something interesting, then don't post a picture. Don't be like "hey, this is me in jeans and an old tee" because the Photo Thread is for normalcy.
EDIT: Hat, that is what I like to hear!
-
I really want to buy this shirt (http://www.herbergers.com/product/juniors/tops/tunics/l8ter+juniors%27+chunky+stone+trimmed+cami+-+cream-black.do) because it is really cute and I think I could do amazing things with it.
-
My most creative outfit I already posted in the TIMEWARP thread.
-
Mixing up 2 old pairs of jeans...
Need to sew them together, will also need to put in a gusset because they are very different size wise. Also it was the lrft leg ruined in both pairs (One from a broken sharpie the other from skateboarding) so the bigger pair is backwards.
Here they are with a belt, not full frontal or you can see my underwear
-
I dig this thread, so I'm going to re-emerge from lurkage to try and break the tendency towards jeans displayed by my fellow men.
Here are some (bad) photos I've culled from friends' collections:
Me with with a green, flared, linen suit:

Shirtsleeves + purple cravat + suspenders:

Russian naval shirt + Russian army hat (my lovely girlfriend stole the hat for me from some russian band when she was well drunk):

And... me and my housie as Zombies. On a Zombie lurch:

First, I must say
ViolentDove,
Shirtsleeves + purple cravat + suspenders:
PIC
Very, very good. Thank you for contributing in general!
-
Russian naval shirt + Russian army hat
Russia just generally has rad military uniforms. If I ever get my hands on some U.S. Navy officers' dress whites, though, I will give you a shout.
-
Old picture of me, circa 2005 I think. This is what stems from $20, a handful of blotter, and a trip to goodwill.
It's unfortunate the rainbow suspenders are hidden by my jacket.
-
ViolentDove, not only are the 2nd and 3rd pics amazing outfits, the 4th picture is just plain awesome. It made me giggle.
-
i really love this thread because it's really encouraging me to dress up these days!
not incredibly creative, but this is what i wore yesterday:

(i went with the last one)
-
hmm... I may be tempted to post once I've repaired my coat. (nearly tore one of the pockets off the other day, and I'm waiting for a friend to loan me her needle and thread so I can fix it)
Also, Lunchy: DAMN girl!
-
trying to decide what to wear today:
(i went with the last one)
That was the Correct Answer.
-
And the Best, Cutest Answer.
-
Guys I liked the middle one. =/
-
I liked the middle and the last one. Although the shoes in the last one really make that outfit, because yeah, Chucks-looking shoes + tapered jeans are made to go together.

My homecoming outfit in 10th grade. All the pieces were found in separate stores. I usually don't wear pink, but I brought lots of pink tops just so I could wear those boots more often. I cropped off my face because I had horrible makeup. >_<
-
I just tuned into this thread to let all yall know that I dress like an evil, retarded clown, at least according to my brother.
Carry on.
-
I want to see evil retarded clown! Mine is unkempt businesswoman.
heart clippies, a ponytail, and big ol' honkin earrings
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v116/BrittanyMarie/Skirt013.jpg)
plus a cute red bracelet
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v116/BrittanyMarie/Skirt012.jpg)
STRIPES
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v116/BrittanyMarie/Skirt009.jpg)
That is what I got. Not too creative color-wise (red, white and black?! So unusual!) but I dig all the different stripes
Plus (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v116/BrittanyMarie/Skirt006.jpg) some (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v116/BrittanyMarie/Skirt007.jpg)
outtakes (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v116/BrittanyMarie/Skirt008.jpg)
(wasn't trying to sexypose, trying to adjust)
-
For some reason, when I loaded this thread and a bunch of other pages at the same time, Tommy's latest picture from the photothread was in the place of moo's first picture in her last post in this thread.
That was weird.
-
from now on, I'm going to assume everybody is pretend until I've slept with them
-
Hello fashion forward QCers.
Was it as good for you as it was for me?
Ok, pillow talk aside, I need some fashion advice. These are some gloves that I like, but I don't know what to wear them with, which is weird, because they are rainbow and should go with everything right?
-
Match your clothes with a couple of colours on the gloves, yellow and green would probably be best because they're brightest.
-
I would say maybe a white shirt and jeans, then rainbow colored accessories, or a skirt, and if you have them, rainbow socks. But those aren't very creative ideas, I guess. :|
-
Yeah, white would work too (or wear whatever the fuck you think looks good, either way!).
-
I'm starting a project on Monday where a friend of mine and I take pictures of our outfits everyday, so I guess I can post them on the internet.
-
Oh man guys, it is like a thread made just for me! <3
In honour of me discovering this thread I did a few little dress ups of outfits I like to wear on the odd occasion when I actually bother to leave my house.
This is pretty much what I wore when I went and saw nick cave. I love that corset more than any other piece of clothing I own.
I am a skully princess!
I could only be bothered to do two, because you all know how I dress by now!
This one is not me (obviously) and I did not make the outfit. but it's so cute! A few years ago I forced the boy into modeling for a plant-themed fashion show our textiles class did at the Carnival of Flowers. he was really unimpressed (as you can probably tell) but it's quite the awesome suit.
PS Lunchy, I want that tarten skirt.
-
If I had that suit I would never wear anything else.
-
I really don't think he was the right person to rock that suit. I'm thinkin' it takes something that he just doesn't have to make it work.
-
Darker hair and less chin, perhaps? And maybe the opinion that citrus-suits are awesome.
-
I would wear that suit.
I would wear that suit and know I am the most awesome motherfucker within a 300 mile radius.
-
(http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c115/MCDickie/5cellaphane.jpg) a pair of plugs I made from the cellophane my Christmas cookies came in, I cleaned it
(http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c115/MCDickie/awesomepants.jpg) not particularly creative but a pair of Desert Night Camo over pants that I use for lounge and work pants.
-
Today I made a dress! It is the best thing ever.
Before alterations:

Alice Cooper for the win!
Also guys, dont be mean to the boy for looking like he is not rocking the suit. i forced him to MODEL. In front of PEOPLE. He was not very comfortable doing that.
Also he didnt get to keep the suit.
-
Grooming himself might also have helped his self esteem.
-
He IS groomed.
And Im glaring right now.
-
I am pretty sure you don't want to meet me ever because I will probably make you alter every pair of jeans I own. I have a lot of jeans.
-
Grooming himself might also have helped his self esteem.
Didn't your mother ever teach you that if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all?
ebony_willow, I envy your t-shirt-to-dress alteration skills. That turned out beautifully!
-
Yeah, it's incredible! Did you use a pattern? If so, can we have it?
If not, that's... that's even more incredible (but it would make me sad, because instead of PROBABLY never being able to do such a thing effectively, I'd DEFINITELY never be able).
-
Ok guys, heres what I did, and it only took like half an hour (including the time gabbly distracted me).
I put it on and worked out how far down I wanted the tie-up bits to go, then put a little snip there so I could tell. Then I took it off and cut out the ties and then put it back on and tied them up (I do this with alot of shirts that are too big for me).
Then I took it off, turned it inside out and hand stitched from wherei tied it down toi the bottom on both sides.
Done.
im not sure that made much sense at all though, so it probably doesn't help.
-
Grooming himself might also have helped his self esteem.
Didn't your mother ever teach you that if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all?
Besides, it looks to me like he did try to groom himself, it is just that with that length hair, for me at least, it has an annoying tendency to do those little curls near the bottom, can't get it to not do that.
-
See, no one else sees the need to be a giant meanie.
You should see his hair now, it is about 4 times as long and fluffy like a lions mane. It's wonderful.
-
I think I understand what you mean, Jodie. I'll have to do something like this with the seats of all my jeans, except, well, it won't be tied and left hanging slightly open. So I'll have to find a sewing machine that can handle denim-stitching. And learn how to use it and what stitches I need.
Fuck it, I should just sever the stitching on an old, not-rad pair of jeans and just reverse-engineer how to do it, and then I'll re-stitch everything with custom measurements and then I will be the most stylin' S.O.B. on the face of the planet.
Besides, it looks to me like he did try to groom himself, it is just that with that length hair, for me at least, it has an annoying tendency to do those little curls near the bottom, can't get it to not do that.
You have that trouble too, huh? Good, makes me feel better about having that happen when my hair was that length. The problem for me right now is that my hair is at the point where it would look good if the back were just -straight- like the rest of my hair. Instead, it curls ever-so-slightly outward, and despite having been told it looks cute, I don't like it in the slightest, because it makes me look like I am 12 or something.
-
Ah, right on the back of your neck? I had that too, Hopefully my hair looks better once it gets longer.
-
Patrick: Learn how to sew buttons. Then learn how to make lots of tiny uniform Xs all in a line.
This is hand-stitching. It takes longer than a machine, but it's all you'll ever need to know for alterations.
-
This is a bitch and a half. It takes longer than a machine, but it's all you'll ever need to know for alterations, and will probably give you carpal tunnel and arthritis.
lol
-
fuck that noise, learn how to use a machine, otherwise the bigger type stuff will take forever. Of course, I know how to do the hand-stitching thing, but I'm so bad at it that I can't even really trust myself to sew on a button well. What I want to learn how to do is knit, damnit. It's cold in Maryland and by next winter I want to have a nice scarf to keep my neck/face warm.
