To not only follow a web comic, but also join into the forum, counts us as nerds.
But how nerdy are we?
1 is the least nerdy... Nerds that can live along with the normal world are like this. Music buffs, movie-lovers, etc.
10 is the most nerdy... Furry LARPers... *shudder*
Feel free to give explanations!

I'm a participating member in several webcomic fora. I'm a bigger nerd than you.

This belongs in the comics forum

I think that one should also differentiate between kinds of nerds. I mean, there's the sort of nerd that reads XKCD, Achewood, Scary Go Round, QC, Dinosaur Comics and Copper, and then there's the kind of nerd that reads Penny Arcade and a horde of lesser immitators. Is one less nerdy than the other? No, probably not, but they are rather subculturally distinct, with first being more 'indie/hipster' whatever and the latter being more 'gamer/haxxorz.'

Can there be a mix of the two? I'd like that.
It seems as though being a nerd has become such a trendy thing, and normal people attempt to call themselves nerds just to sound 'cool'. This really bothers me. Give me a real nerd!

Actually, I experienced a lot of situations in real life lately that either
- are totally like the situations in the lot of webcomics (except for maybe the walking robots and talking furries)
- offer a perfect chance to quote some of the jokes of a webcomic, because they fit the topic perfectly
or
- have consequences that a much more easily predictable when you have webcomic-w1sd0m!!
...
We may be nerds,
but we are FEARSOME NERDS WITH KNOWLEDGE!
-
Dick sucking joke AND a sig image.
I think we have ourselves a winner.

There's always some one with a more impresive resume ;)

hmmm, depends on the webcomic. but yes, reading a webcomic puts you much closer to normal human activity than most of the rest of the stuff on the internet.
i'd say probably about a 2.5 for webcomic readers. add one point if you are currently on a forum for a webcomic.

I built a server out of parts I found in my closet today, and wired a VGA extension cable for it out of old ethernet cable.
I think I win the nerd peeing contest.

Im could discribe myself as a web comic nerd. I read QC for hours well after midnight and basicly feel like one. On the other hand i am also a music nerd and although i listen mostly to hardcore/punk in Bulgaria if you listen to anything different from pop-folk and hip-hop, dance, house and you are obsessed with music you are a music nerd. Im also a computer nered, i have like 1000(yes a thousand) pdf's about artificial intelligence. I am basicly smarter than 80% of the people on the planet. But i feel stupid because i read a lot of code and read a lot of documentation and its basicly like talking to a genius if you are in 3-rd grade. And yet i still have a social life and friends and non of them know anything abouth computers or hardcore or comics. So we talk about other cool stuff like guns and sport and history and make fun of emoes :D. So if any of you feel like their life is beeing run by some obsesion of any kind please be goood at it. There are a lot of stupid programmers, gamers, web cartoonists, musitions, bloggers, we don't need you unless you kick ass :D

nerrrrrrrrrrrrrrds!
-
I hate people labeling themselves as "nerds" because it usually means that there is an underlying implication that those people consider themselves smarter or better than "normal" people in some fashion.
"I'm more hardcore than you at computers!"
"I'm way more into tabletop gaming than you are!"
"I bet I know heaps more Pokemon names than you!"
Who gives a shit?
-
Well, I AM smarter than 90% of the people around me, but I usually don't brag about it, unless its on the internet of course :D
