Title: Beer and Blasphemy
Post by: SusurrusIgnoramus on 07 May 2008, 09:44
A friend and I just started a new blog. We're planning on talking about a lot of things, but right now it's revolving around Metal, the Occult, radical politics and, obviously, beer. We pick a topic that strikes us at the moment, or review an album, or book etc. and drink a beer while we're writing. After, we review the beer.

I'm sure it's not everyone's bag, but I thought I'd give a little plug just in case there are any craft beer lovers, metal heads, or other weirdos about that might be interested.

In this thread, we plug things.

A friend and I just made some nachos. We are planning on eating them, but right now we are focusing on making beverages, finding something on TV, and obviously, nachos. We pick ingredients that would be good on nachos and put them on the nachos before we eat them.

I'm sure it's not everyone's favorite snack, but I thought I'd give them a little plug in case there were any nacho lovers, or other hungry people that might be interested.

Umm...it takes me to google's homepage.  Manually typing out the address does, too.

my friend is trying to forward the blogspot address straight to www.beerandblasphemy.com and is having trouble, currently.  it should be fixed soon.

edit: strange, it works for me fine...

How radical is your interpretation of radical politics?

How radical is your interpretation of radical politics?

If you answer with anything but "we're both Tolstoyite Christian Anarchists," I'm going to be sorely tempted to start a rival blog called Vodka and Venial Sin. I probably won't do it because drinking Vodka and pretending to be a Christian Anarchist almost certainly sounds more fun then it is, but I'll still be sorely tempted.

Your internets seem to be temporarily residing in a place called Broken. Which is a shame because this sentence here

After, we review the beer.

made me want to love you forever, and obviously I need to read your blog to do that.

I must have better internet than the rest of you suckers, it works for me, and I like it. The stuff about magick is interesting since I never usually encounter anything of a spiritual nature, and I'm looking forward to seeing what you have to say about politics. Politics is always better when you involve beer.

i dunno... not like blowing up government buildings or anything like that.  my friend is a libertarian and i am more of a left-leaning libertarian.  no that's not an oxymoron.

Is it too late for "in before 'get a blog'?"

LOL.

I really think that that a quote and 'LOL' is a really weak post, but, I mean, uh, I just think that post is kind of ridiculous. That's probably just due to me being a cynic and atheist in a post-modern post-industrial society.

He has a blog.

That's like the crux of his thread.

Well shit, problem solved then!

I'll start a new account and get on that.

my friend is a libertarian

Update: Less interested.

though not one of those really annoying ones.  and he's less interested in politics than  me.  neither of us are preachy.  actually, politics will probably take a backseat for both of us.

Hahahahaha I didn't think you were actually serious!

And to keep this post on topic, can I suggest playing round with the blog style so that it isn't so visibly a blogspot blog? I don't know how one goes about doing this, but a personalised stylesheet always makes blogs seem more sincere, somehow.

yeah, we're working on that.  neither of us are web designers... i'm sure the look will change pretty regularly until we nail it down right.

i mean, it's free, and it requires no coding.  once we start generating some traffic, we can move on to bigger and better things.

Yeah, I see your reasoning. That sort of blog is really convenient actually, I had one briefly til I realised I had nothing of interest to contribute to the internet. Yours is vastly more interesting than mine ever was!

You can try wordpress.

Pretty good idea for a blog, by the by.

I liked the beer review. Plenty of people blog about music, but not enough blog about beer. You should definately keep the beer theme central whenever you can.

yeah, that's the plan.  eventually there will be a beer review with every post.  it's also not just a music blog. it'll be about Chaos Magic Theory as well, and there isn't ENOUGH about that.

that's the thing about chaos magic.  athiests and cynics fit in quite well.  my friend and i are both.  it's not about stupid rituals and silly hats and robes.  we'll be getting more into it soon.  and when he mentioned synchronicity, he also said "coincidence".

I'm actually looking forward to more stuff on Chaos Magic too. I intend to eventually earn a PhD in the study of contemporary religion, and while I realize that Chaos Magicians are often resistant to calling it a religion, I'm always fascinated by people relating their spiritual and mystical experiences. I liked the piece your friend wrote about camping and the Crash Test Dummies.

Still, I think the most coherent and unique thing I found on your blog was the beer review you wrote, which is why I suggested emphasizing that angle.

And I'm still tempted to start Vodka and Venial Sin in order that I might make fun of you.

Now look what you made me do. (http://vodkaandvenialsin.blogspot.com/) There's nothing there yet because my lunch break is over. Speaking of which, my lunch break is over.
