http://kotaku.com/5011404/ubisoft-officially-announces-beyond-good--evil-2
I am a very happy man. Now let's just hope this one sells more than the first one.
-
Never played the first game (I know, I know), but I have heard very good things, so I'm intrigued to hear more.
-
To be honest, considering how few people did play the first one, I'm surprised they green lighted it.
-
At least running out of new ideas means that some older unappreciated games will also get sequels. Now it just needs to not be terrible.
-
Haven't played the last one, but I have been wanting like crazy to. Looking forward to getting this one.
-
I literly got up and scream "oh fuck yes!" I loved BGAE. And wanted a sequel for so long.
That being said, if Ubisoft fucking ruins this by making it shitty, I will destroy them with tons and tons of hate
-
Ubisoft doesn't have a bad enough track-record for that comment, sir. Remove thyself!
-
They have an awful track record where ports are concerned.
And there's been a bunch of hand-wringing over comments by Ubisoft that the difficulty will be scaled down and the game will be made "more accessible" (http://www.joystiq.com/2008/05/29/beyond-good-and-evil-2-done-for-the-new-generation/), but who really cares about that.
-
So I guess I need to buy the first game? I heard good reviews of it, and I know people love it, but you never hear about it anymore, and I haven't been playing my PS2 much. Ought to be able to buy it bargain bin at least.
-
Ubisoft has a pretty awful track record for most of their games. When they do well, they tend to do really goddamn well, but they're also a shovel ware factory.
I don't really see much bad coming out of that comment. It's the same creator and I'm fairly certain he'll gonna keep it fairly close to the original game, but I can't blame him for wanting to make the game sell this time around.

I've come to notice that track records don't mean shit. A bad game is a bad game. And Ubisoft as made some shit games before. Especially sequels to games that were considered "Grand Fucking Magnificant"
Prince of Persia:SoT >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Prince of Persia: Warrior Within.
Hearing that god damn riff from I stand alone over and over and over and over and over again. What the fuck where they thinking?
-
Yeah, PoP got focus-grouped into oblivion.
I like what they did with the asshole Prince in the third game, though. It was a nice save.

Hmm.... it was pretty easy in the first place. Not that that's a bad thing; I liked the way that there were multiple ways of making your way through the "dungeons". Try killing every guard in the game (that isn't in a room with a death laser, where there's multiple guards and few hiding places; that's not possible) though, and the difficulty does get vamped up slightly.

Holy Fucking Shit Yes!

Guarded Yay! I liked BG&E, except for the fact that I couldn't invert just the camera controls. And Ubisoft has basically disowned PC gamers, but now that I have a 360, I can still look forward to playing an Ubisoft game, abeit bittersweetly.
-
I was really not sure about BG&E. I mean it felt like a non-Zelda Zelda game (which is great btw) and I loved playing it, but I don't know. It seems a bit overhyped, and I thought a lot of people seemed to get a lot more into the subtexts of it than I did.
It'd be a shame if anything was sacrificed to make a sequel sell well, though. I'd have thought, given that the original generally seems to be in this sort of place where so many people think "Man I should really look into that game" but perhaps aren't doing, that a sequel has the potential to sell fantastically to that demographic.
-
Played the game until I hit a showstopper bug on my only save file and didnt want to start over from scratch. Aside from that it was definitely fun in an Oddworld Abe or MDK sorta way.
-
I decided to never buy another Ubisoft game because their QA department intentionally ships the game with crash level bugs all the time, along with other practices in fucking their customers. Since I'm fairly certain this game is coming out on a system I don't own I can safely say my boycott will not be lifted.
Also their "trailer" had zero gameplay footage and proved they scrapped the original voice actors. I doubt Ubisoft can make this game as well as the original. Most likely Ancel will just get bored with the project and wander off to do other things while interns turn the game into a minigame fest to appeal to this mythical causal audience.
The original is a fantastic game with few bugs, even though it was made by Ubisoft. I suggest buying it, it only costs $9 at amazon.
