Title: THE GREAT TORONTO TREASURE HUNT
Post by: Peet on 21 Jun 2008, 07:17
As has been well publicised, there are currently some people in Toronto committing vast amounts of webcest. Obviously, in the spirit of forum communism they have to share the fun around so I am turning Tronnocon into a multimedia user-participation extravaganza.

People of Toronto, furnish me with evidence of:

1) A menu from a restaurant.

2) A photo of yourself with a bouncer/doorman.

3) A note on official paper from your hotel (note must not be written by a forumite).

4) Another forumite's underwear, without their knowledge.

5) A photo of two or more forumites playing sport in a sports shop, with borrowed equipment. The more elaborate the better.

6) A picture of yourself with someone who resembles another forumite, but really isn't.

(this is possible. We've seen Julia and Lunchy lookalikes in Boston before)

7) Tommy in a Manchester United shirt

Number 3 will be tough because Tommy is the only one in a hotel at the moment.

Otherwise God bless you Pete I will do everything in my power to make this happen.

12) A comical photograph involving at least 3 of the following things:

a monument or statue.
a small dog.
a top hat.
an attempt at a human pyramid.
a mascot for a sports team.
a sleeping bag.
an electronic device of any description.

13) The tackiest, nastiest, cheapest and outright most awful piece of tourist tat you can find.

I want to do this. Who else will do this one with me?

Along with Johnny, I will try my hardest to do this.

If the previous scavenger hunt is any indication, Edith is the only one who will do this.

Joe if that's your attitude I'm not sure I want to attend Chicagocon.

I also happened to be one of the few who actually followed through in the previous scavenger hunt. There were lots of people who said they would take pictures, but only 4 of us who actually did.

Incidentally, is maiAda at Tronnocon? I forget, she was also one of the Awesome Quartet™.

EDIT: In reviewing the scavenger hunt thread, I see there was more participation than I seem to remember. Still, only 4 of us really stuck with it past like a single spurt of pictures and finished most of the list.

If this had been posted on wednesday, we could have done it.

And if I'd gone, I would've gotten #7, by force if necessary.

Yeah. And most of those things wouldn't be easy even if we'd had advance.

Meaning you guys are coming up with lame stuff. I liked Ali's suggestion, but that's it really.

We saw a Jodie lookalike. In fact, we hung out with her all day! Her name was Hannah!

Guys, we kind of tried this a bit halfheartedly because we didn't have access to Internet, but we got a couple of things!

A menu from a restaurant.
We got two! We actually went to quite a few restaurants but forgot to take pictures.

Another forumite's underwear, without their knowledge.
Jimmy was in the shower. Jodie and I explored.

A picture of yourself with someone who resembles another forumite, but really isn't.
Hannah dressed as Jodie. This totally counts.

Forumites wearing each others clothing - and I don't mean just hats and jackets
These are Jimmy's boots.
This is Jimmy's jacket.

Shut up.

The tackiest, nastiest, cheapest and outright most awful piece of tourist tat you can find.
Well, I think Hannah took this one so I will leave it to her. However, I did buy this fantastic t-shirt.

A host of forumites, each drinking a drink of a different colour.
Well there is only three, but we didn't have rainbow drinks. Instead we had rainbow hair. (Lise had blue, Jimmy had purple, Jodie had red.)

I dunno, Tronno pictures just seem to indicate people gave their livers something to do, while Sydney pictures seem to show people doing things?

See we didn't really worry about taking photos for the Internet. We would have taken those pictures anyway. All of us had cameras out! It was great!
None of us got drunk. Aztex and Jimmy had a beer with lunch one day but none of us are real big drinkers.
Also the list came from what we sort of remembered from checking the interbutts in the morning before leaving, that is why we did not get so many and some were a bit wrong.

Sorry, Katie. Geez.

Fixed (I had a chocolate milkshake!).

Not really. We were too drunk to remember to take pictures and be as awesome as the Australians.

Also fixed.

Funny?  Yeah, right.  When I was young (10 or so) I was taken camping; I first heard Beethoven's Fifth Symphony on a portable radio (with valves!) in a field while being stung by wasps, and then there was a rainstorm in the night and I was flooded out of my tent.  And the less said about my experiences in the school CCF (sorry - don't know equivalent terms outside the UK) the better.  The basis for a fulfilled life of happy camping, those...

i am glad you like them!  i feel much more at ease now.  the way i feel about people who have never had brownies in their life is more or less equivalent to the way baptists feel about godless heathens who have never allowed jesus to come into their soul.  it is comforting to know that you are Saved now.
