Excerpt:
[House Peters, Jr.'s] most memorable role came as Mr. Clean - a muscular man with a bald head, a hoop earring and a no-nonsense attitude toward dirt and grime. From the late 1950s and into the early 1960s, Peters Jr. helped advertise the famous household cleaner with the trademark jingle, "Mr. Clean, Mr. Clean."
Peters died of pneumonia at the Motion Picture and Television Fund Hospital in Los Angeles, said his son, Jon Peters.

Nobody tell Hanners. She has enough to worry about.

So, for the record, this is surprising news to me because, in all honesty, I had thought he passed away a long time ago. But It's still relaly sad news.
I had pneumonia a year ago....people were wondering why it freaked me out. People die from this. I lost a friend to this. Pneumonia is not fun, trust me.
Anywho, back to the topic on hand. It is a sad loss in the world of product icons. Everyone knows who Mr. Clean is. Just wow.
Thanks for sharing this news.

Well, he was 92 years old and lived a full life, it's not that sad. I didn't even know Mr. Clean had been portrayed by an actor since he's always been animated in the commercials I've seen.

Wikipedia fun facts: (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mr._Clean)
"In September 2008, the European Parliament deemed Mr. Clean potentially offensive, because his build might imply that cleaning can only be accomplished by a muscular man."
:-D

Wow....that's just......wow.
Mr. Clean has been around for how long? And how many maids use it? It took them until last month to come up with that?
I would like to know their justification for that one. And want about the Brawny man? He's a muscular guy.....is it saying that only muscley men can use paper towels?
Sorry if this seems harsh, but then doing that is just.....for alck of a better word....dumb.

I don't think it implies that you need a man to clean so much as it plays in to a fantasy of having this handsome, muscular dude show up who wants to help you clean. What heterosexual housewife with a husband who never lifts a finger around the house wouldn't get a little twitter in her loins at the idea?
-
"Oh! Look at those shoulders. Can't you just imagine him wrestling with a difficult stain? Oom!"
