They ain't scones, because they don't have anything in them. They're not tea-cakes because they are savoury, not sweet. They aren't muffins because of the same reason, and plus they don't have paper wrappers and/or are not the right shape. So what do you call them?

heh, when I got to college I had no idea what Target is, because there weren't any around CT where I went to highschool (I'm pretty sure there are a few now though.) Their ads confused me mightily since they don't actually explain what the store is, they just have lots of trippy imagery, and people thought I was pretty clueless.

Man, what? The Northeast is fucking rotten with Targets, guys. Shit, I live like half a mile from a Target, with another one two towns over. Up where I grew up in NH, there was two about a twenty minute drive away in either direction. I'll admit, back when I was a kid we didn't have any, but they started popping up like crazy in New England when I was like thirteen. Hell, I have worked at a Target.

All this to say: I really don't give two shits about these things, but I will go buy some and then just throw them out out of spite.

The first I had heard of Target was when I moved to America, aka Fairfield county Connecticut. This is where I learned about Target, and enough to know that all the classy people pronounce it Tarjay.

Wow, according to Wikipedia there are 10(!) active varieties of Mountain Dew in the U.S., with 18(!!) other varieties having come and gone over the years. We have Mountain Dew. Just the one.

Also it seems everything in America comes in grape or cinnamon flavours. We don't even have cinnamon Tic-Tacs in Australia.

I know there's a whole bunch of other stuff because whenever my girlfriend's dad heads back to Canada or the U.S. for work they always make a gigantic list of food for him to bring back.

I recall there being free Dr Pepper promotions at my school (which seems a little odd in retrospect) and hating the stuff even though it was free, sugary and I was 11, which is hardly a good sign. And Pop Tarts seemed like such a great idea in theory but were mostly too sweet. We bought them a few times but I wasn't really disappointed when they disappeared from shelves.

To sum up: Australian food > American food

Also, I found an IGA in Canberra that sold all manner of American stuff, with Pop Tarts and Reeses Cups, along with Cherry Coke and Dr Pepper right next to the fruit and veg. They also sold Milk Duds and Hershey's chocolate and peanut butter M&Ms and other stuff I can't remember. It was a strange little supermarket. However, the one time I went in for the sole purpose of buying Pop Tarts, they didn't have any there. I (sadly) almost cried.

And there was this dress there that was fabulous and the small was just a little too small and the large was just too large. So this morning I got up and went to the Moorhead Target but they didn't even have the dress, much less in a medium, but they had the turquoise shoes I've been looking at. On clearance. In my exact size. For $6. Hells yes.

Usually they brew soda locally and sell it as the brand. Pepsi in Nicaragua, for example, comes in recycled bottles and is 9x sweeter than American pepsi.

I mean, Red Bull plainly states it has 100 mg or whatever of caffeine per can, and it is decidedly not cola.

The kind of thing you don't wanna do more than once a year, so you take it easy at all the other LANs and play alot better since you are not exhausted and without focus.

As for this thing called a "Tim Tam Slam", I seem to remember that recently one of the cereal brands came out with these cereal straws, that you were supposed to drink a glass of milk with, the inside of the straw being coated in chocolate or something that was supposed to flavor the milk, and then when you were done you ate the straw. The idea had promise, but we never bought any for testing. Wonder if they have those still around.

However, there are a similar type of thing out now where there are little bead-thingamajigs of flavour in straws, with something that stops them from coming out the top/bottom (little grille type things?) which are popular now here. It's not quite what you're talking about, but still weird.

Further research indicates that my statements were true until Red Bull successfully applied to have the Food Standards Code changed so that "energy" drinks could also have caffeine added. I had previously thought that Red Bull scraped in under "kola" somehow.

Also, I have just learned that guarana is a natural source of caffeine so adding guarana does mean adding caffeine.

Either way, unless Mountain Dew rebrands as an "energy" drink here rather than a soft drink, it can't have caffeine.

for some reason i've always found this really interesting. not to diminish schizophrenia in any way, it's a really terrible debilitating disease but next time you find yourself extremely sleep deprived and thinking really crazy shit, you'll kind of know what it's like to be schizophrenic! wacky.

I know, I was partually joking, generally what happens is that when I'm really trying to figure something out, and I stay up longer, my average productivity goes down, but since I'm staying up later to figure something out, the eureka moments are better. Does that make sense?

I guess what I'm saying is, that while the coding may end up being shoddy, the breaks that I make while sleep deprived seem to be all the more glorious. Coding can always be fixed if I get the right idea.

This was particularly bad when I worked in a bottleshop and I knocked over three stacks of wine (4 cases to a stack) in one day because I either didn't see them until I was knocking them over or because I was distracted by the dancing shadows that were mocking me from the corner of the room. Eventually if you lose enough sleep your body shuts down from the strain.

One of them was "wouldn't it be awesome if the guy in the armored truck delivering money closed the door, walked in and then the truck exploded and fighting broke out in the lobby? the glass doors would shatter and I'd have to drop down behind the counter then start fighting off zombies or some shit"

Plain McVities digestives are a different shape but almost identical in flavor to graham crackers. I think their round shape is actually a superior choice for s'mores.
