Title: prom date.
Post by: Allybee on 19 Jan 2009, 18:08
hi my name is ally. I am a senior in highschool in new england and my senior prom is on june 9th, 2009. I am looking to make this a magical, unforgettable evening and I need the perfect date. sadly none of the local boys are up to my standards.

typically we go to one of my friend's houses for pictures so you need to look good in a suit and preferably you are very photogenic. also I am about 5'5" so you should be taller than I am by at least two inches. after pictures we go to prom in a limo. it will be in a swanky hotel where we eat a multiple-course dinner and then gyrate on the dance floor for a few hours. hopefully you do not sweat too much because things tend to get hot. ideally you will make conversation with my friends and impress everyone with your dancing. my ultimate goal is to make other girls jealous.

afterwards we will depart for the school after-party that is thrown to encourage students not to drink. I don't know what the theme is yet because prom is not soon but I went last year and it was sort of boring so you should have a good backup plan.

tickets will run from about $75-$100 and you should plan on paying for your own. you will receive a free gift in my school colors as a souvenir for the trouble.

let me know why you should be my prom date. guys only, sorry, I don't want to give anyone the wrong idea.

Hi Ally,

You should pick me as a date because I'm old enough to buy booze, and that would make us the life of the after party

I'll do it if you fly me out, and I can get permission from my P.O to travel.

I can pretty much assure I will be the best prom date, because I am 1. Older. 2. Dangerous with a shady criminal past. 3. Absurdly pretty. 4. Really well dressed. 5. Look damn good in suits. 6. 7. Because of reasons, I won't pressure you to drink, do drugs, or have sex.

If I wasn't sure that this would be a whole lot more money than I'd probably be willing and/or able to spend, due to travel from Philly to wherever you are, I'd be happy to do this.  I'm 21 and a recent college grad, though, so it might sketch out your friends.  I feel confident of my ability to interact smoothly with the social atmosphere at a high school prom, though, and I don't look too old (especially if I go cleanshaven).  I also really like dancing and people tell me I'm good at it.  I think I'd have a lot of fun with it.

3, 4 and 5 of Animal Ghosts statement may be subject to change over how much alcohol has been imbued.

I would volunteer if I wasn't in blighty, and at the time I may be in a play as well. Good luck with the date hunting.

sorry guys but I am not completely convinced. you need to find a girl who does not use the internet, get her to write "[name] is a really great dancer, I know because I've seen him dance" and photograph them holding this piece of paper before I can even begin to consider you as a date. sam you should be able to do this for me.

kieffer for the record I think you look really great in a suit. if you were legally allowed to travel I'd totally take you to prom.

gilead is that a picture of you because I'm not taking a penis-shaped cookie to prom I do not think that would impress my friends.

Title: Re: prom date.
Post by: Scarychips on 19 Jan 2009, 18:43
ally i do not own a suit.

Uh yeah... Me neither.
Also, is it a problem if I'm younger than you? Cause, you now, my prom is next year. But I'm taller than you.
Title: Re: prom date.

Guys you're lame, I'm a girl and I have a suit.
Title: Re: prom date.
Post by: Allybee on 19 Jan 2009, 18:45
oww I hope you do. even if you do not ultimately take me to prom I imagine the photograph could be useful later for stuff, like if you try to get a job as a professional dancer and need references or something.

guys you can rent a suit suck it up do you or do you not want to go to prom with me?

gilead you should not try to confuse me if you want to take me to prom, that is sort of rude. also that cookie doesn't even say "cum [come] 2 prom WITH ME," it just says "cum [come] 2 prom," and I had already planned on going, so.

younger is alright but you have to make up for it in other ways.
Title: Re: prom date.
Post by: Josefbugman on 19 Jan 2009, 18:45
most guys are taller than girls, thats genetics for you.

Also, I cannot help but ask (as a slight side note to the boy hunt going on) but... does it really matter if you don't have a prom date? I don't think more than 25 people in our year of about 500 (boys school and girls school had a joint prom) had dates? Is it really a big deal in America?
Title: Re: prom date.
Post by: Allybee on 19 Jan 2009, 18:46
sorry andy we went over this, I might know a guy who needs a date though I'll let you know. this night is how people will remember me for the rest of their lives, I do not want to be the girl who had to go to prom with another girl because she couldn't find a cool guy to take her. sorry.

also I will not go to prom without a date, then I will be remembered as that girl who couldn't find anyone to take her and obviously that is ridiculous.

Sam, nobody is missing out. My prom was basically just a really really expensive night of shitty music.

I would be an ideal candidate for this venture! I am 5'11", fit, and I have done minor modeling work! Unfortunately, you would need to pay several thousand dollars for my flight, five star accommodation, meals, probably suit hire (new suits are fun) and I would probably get drunk and get with your friends. If these things are issues to you, I am afraid that we will not be able to work together on this. Sorry.

[also, if prom is anything like debutante balls, there is a decent chance I would get bored and go to a party]
Title: Re: prom date.
Post by: Allybee on 19 Jan 2009, 18:58
adam I do not think that "swing dancing" is really important for prom because we are going to be dancing to more modern music, ie rihanna, britney, TI, etc. I imagine that the dj will also throw in some 90s hits for the nostalgia factor. ideally if you are looking to be my prom date you should be acquainted with this type of music.

michael how do you look in a suit? do you like hypnotists because the afterparty usually has one but only if you stay until like 4 am. we'd probably be at a real afterparty with beer pong by then. are you good at beer pong?

also sam you are missing out. that is who. you all have done prom wrong and I'm offering you a chance to make things better, you should be thanking me for the opportunity.

spluff you sound like a terrible prom date, you may exit by the door to your right.

I'm sorry, but anyone I take to prom must wear attire which conforms to the standards outlined at stuckatprom.com (http://stuckatprom.com), and so far it seems as if you are concerned only with what you can get from your date and not what you can give.

Screw that, I want to go with Ozy.  Uh Andy, isn't your prom this year too?

Personally, I'd rather be with Ozy in that sexy number he's sporting.

Shoot, you shouldn't have disqualified girls. I'm taller than you with no heels, look amazing in a suit, and can tango, cha-cha, waltz and nightclub two-step (all adaptable to modern songs). I am good at entertaining high school aged folks sometimes and would not try any funny business at the end of the night.

Ally. If you have a friend in the same situation as you, just, take that person. Regardless of gender, y'know? Hopefully all your friends would be cool with dancing with you and maybe sharing a kiss at the end of the night. Failing that, Kieffer.

Really now though. Folks, the prom is not about making everybody jealous and trying to cement yourself a reputation one last time. It's about enjoying the night, and maybe even shaking things up enough that people will think "Hey, what the fuck? Maybe I don't know anything about that person afterall". Mostly about enjoying yourself without any concern for your reputation, though. Your reputation in school is about as important as the colour your shoelaces were when you were six. You might feel embarassed forever, but there's not a single other person alive who gives a shit.

I had prom, and my sister had prom. Perhaps my school is just really, really weird. At my prom, I wore a dress because the Head Girl threatened to revoke my ticket if I turned up in a "dykey suit", got really, really drunk and got backhanded by a guy for saying Jesus was a Jew, went to a really shitty afterparty and then walked with several people and no shoes on to a BP garage to get a Mars bar and more alcohol, and it was so late they served us through the little hatch thing.

Classy.
Title: Re: prom date.
Post by: Jimmy the Squid on 20 Jan 2009, 11:31
But Jesus was a Jew!

We don't have proms here. We have formals. They basically function in much the same way though. My formal was fairly awful and I'm honestly surprised that I even went. I did go to my girlfriend's formal however and that wasn't too bad. It was a little weird sitting next to the 40 year old boyfriend of one of my girlfriend's classmates but hey, whatever. We did however spend a good portion of the night outside, smoking.

do you like hypnotists because the afterparty usually has one

What

Actually my junior prom was sweet. The music was shit, so after about an hour of dancing with my friends, which consisted of them "poppin and lockin'" and me switching between ragtime/charleston and an irish jig, me and my date went upstairs to the lounge-ish area of the dinner theater where the prom was. YOU CAN GUESS WHAT HAPPENED*

*What happened was that the lounge/restaraunt area was supposed to be off-limits to prom attendees, but this cool 50 year old-ish waitress was like "you kids seem civilized. What are you doing up here?" We replied "Music sucks." She laughed and said "In that case, you can sit up here if you like. There's no one here tonight, I'm the only one on duty besides the kitchen staff." We thanked her and sat down and just had some water and were talking and laughing and such, and then about 15 minutes later the waitress came back and said "This is probably a special night for you right?" I was about to reply "well, not really, we only decided to come at the last minute," but she went on with "would you like some wine? I figure you would probably drink anyway, so better to do it here and drink something classy then some awful vodka or something." So we had wine, and continued to talk and laugh for two hours. Also we kissed and had sex at her house later.

But yeah, coolest old lady waitress ever!

I had prom, and my sister had prom. Perhaps my school is just really, really weird.

Proms have apparently been becoming more and more common in the UK over the last decade due to high exposure to American pop culture and the glamorization of proms out here. Basically, a bunch of whiny teenage rich kids saw a bunch of movies where idiot kids go to prom and have like OMG the best night evar and started yelling "WHY NOT US?!"

ALLY

i know i am a girl but i am pretty good at cross-dressing as a guy.  my hair is short enough to fit under a hat and no one will even be able to tell the difference!  i've been looking for an excuse to chop all my hair off so i am willing to let you choose a boy hairstyle and cut it that way.  i am actually better looking as a dude than as a lady, so if you let me take you you will get a hot date and also i will get to feel pretty.

i don't have a suit but i am sure i would look pretty good in one, and if you choose me i will buy one just for you which means you get to choose the color/style/everything.  i will even learn how to tie a tie for you.

i am shorter than you but if tom cruise can work the platform sneakers, i bet i can work them even better.

i am forever 18 so i won't be too creepily old for you.  however, since i've already gone to college i'll still have that "sexy & mysterious older man" aura about me.
BONUS:  i've been living in italy for the past three years & am italian so i can whisper sweet nothings into your ear in a foreign language all night and all your girlfriends will be so jealous.

i think from the dance off thread you have probably already seen that i am well-acquainted with the cheesy 90's music and i know how to shake my booty to it.

i've already done prom once, and i did it right, so i know how to give you a good time.

Ally I am older than you, but that is OK because people are not good at gauging the age of a young man with a bald head. Many think I am older than I am but I can pass as younger on account of having a softish face and being silly. When I am clean shaven I can just say I am whatever age I want and get away with it.

I look mighty fine in a suit, I think, sometimes, and I have a nice selection of not-black suits in which to look good, which is good because while black suits at the prom are OK I don't think they're what you're looking for. Unless there is a Kieffer inside of your black suit, I guess.

I can dance and I dance a lot with my feet, which is slightly unusual from people around and sets me apart from the crowd. Also I can slow dance just fine, I will not go for your bum or anything (unless it is after 11:30PM).

I really think you should actually take Kieffer but if not whatever I am here for you.

If I'm paying for my own flight I expect at least one kiss with tongue.

Maybe we should put up a sticky with common things newbs should know.  List of mods/admins, people who are allowed to abuse them without recourse, fine ladies, common social faux pas, etc.

man a lot of people want to take me to prom this is great. okay here is a litmus test to determine your eligibility,. I need to get rid of any losers right off the bat. different tests for girls and guys. kieffer you don't need to take it. you automatically qualify as a potential date because I just looked in the fashion thread and man you look good in a suit. are you shaving the beard soon? I think you should but it's not a big deal.

boys: would you ever ignore me at prom

girls: what would you do if we showed up to my prom in the same dress
Title: Re: prom date.
Post by: Josefbugman on 20 Jan 2009, 16:41
I think that most of the girls are planning on wearing suits, also considering the fact that you can corespond over the forum it would be somewhat unlikely to occur.

If you are attractive as the fellow forumites make you out to be I sincerly doubt that anyone would be ignoring you.

Sorry for replying, I am just really interested in this thread, so much incite into such basic ideas, its all rather intriquing for the ameatur sociologist. Sorry.

True, but with cropped hair and a lack of (obvious) makeup they would simply look like a more attractive guy, one who is manifestly attractive and who looks sleek and slighty refined. It may even work out for you better. Good Lord it sounds as if I am setting up a romcom by accident.

however, i'm just going to disqualify myself right now in spite of this, because i actually am kind of a loser, and i don't look good in a suit anyway.

I think you should go with MaiAda because you said you wanted to be remembered right? well, what's more memorable than two super hot ladies going to prom together?

Title: Re: prom date.
Post by: est on 20 Jan 2009, 17:07
Ally, I could take you to prom.

pros: older, relatively tall (6'1"), scrub up ok, have a suit, know how to dance, Australian accent offers foreign mystique and air of dangerous swarthiness due to current run of Australia! at box office, can afford all that prom ticket and dinner crap you were talking about.

cons: probably too old to be in the "impressive" age range (ie: early 30s as opposed to early 20s), small yet ferocious girlfriend who would definitely kill the both of us violently should our dancefloor gyrations look too authentic sets limit on amount of jealousy induced in fellow prom-goers, tend to get sweaty at clubs so dancing in a suit would probably suck, easily bored and/or annoyed by general teenage yammering, manly stubble comes with unfortunate side-effect of causing any potential makeouts to be scratchy, resulting in pash-rash (also, see above girlfriend issue).

On revision of my application I guess I am not an ideal candidate.  Pity.

Ally, I should be your prom date because:

-I am older and taller, but not so much of either where your friends would whisper things. Gossip about your date would focus more on your ability to get a cool dude and not on his origins.
-I can dance relatively well, both coupled and alone.
-I have excellent capacity for conversation and enough knowledge of minutiae to maintain discourse on any manner of subject that may come up.
-We are already good friends, so my attention would obviously stick with you, but I would know when to hang back and give you your space too.
-Close enough to actually be able to make this happen.

Wait Ruyi are you going to graduate before I do? Man, taking an extra semester was a silly idea.

Ally Tyler is a good idea, but I have a nagging feeling he might end up making out with one of your friends at the after-party?

I would probably ignore you only just a little bit at prom. Three quarters of the way in I would start to chat up that girl you never really knew but thought you probably could of been friends with, so you'll start to feel a little animosity towards this girl you'd always felt kind of curiously pleasant towards but then right after the calibre 3.5 dance song being played has about seven seconds left in it I'd go back to totally completely notignoring you, and we'd dance the slow number coming up then everything would be great.
Just like Heavy Metal Drummer on Yankee Hotel Foxtrot, like that is a boring song, what is going on there why did they put that there well hey the next song is OK then wait this next one whoa whoa hey this is awesome whoa.

Ally you are missing the part where i am turning myself manly for you!

this of course means that there is no danger of us turning up in the same dress.  however, if this somehow hypothetically happened (because we both have such great taste our great minds might think too much alike when picking out dresses), no worries!  we are both creative types and could figure out a solution.  we'd duck into the bathroom, where i would pull out a handy travel sewing kit.  we'd use our collective brain power to alter my dress - rip off the hem to change the length, and use the leftover fabric to tie in a bow around the waist?  once we were done no one would ever know our dresses had once been the same, and we will both still look absolutely fabulous, and everyone will be jealous.

Greetings, Ally.

Good luck in your search for a prom date.  I'm too old, too fat, no longer look good in a suit, can barely tolerate teenagers, would tower over you at 6'3", and am a weirdo, with a birth-control personality that is both goofy and frightening at the same time.  So while I'd like to go with you to a prom because I never had one, I'd prefer you went with someone nice.

Besides that, you might live in a state where I'd have to leave my gun at home, and I have my reasons for not wanting to be or travel unarmed.

In fact, those reasons are another whole subset of reasons why I shouldn't be anywhere near people I care about.

Go.  Have fun.  In fact, have a little fun for me, too.

And think of this old, fossilized asshole fondly once or twice.  And feel up a cute guy's ass just to see the look on his face.

Because sometimes those looks, those moments where they have the "deer in the headlights" look...

...are the most precious.

Aloha!

I'm throwing down on this Sweepstakes 4 Sho'.

Fair Maiden, if your looking for a Prom for the ages, then I may be your man.

Not only do I look positively dashing in a suit, tuxedo, or Utility Kilt, I could more than likely power a small town for a few days with the energy produced from my Move Busting capabilities. I call this the Nuclear Groove Effect.

At age 20, 6'1, I feel I fall into the Physical and Chronological qualifications quite nicely, but that's not all.

At my High School, before I went to my own Sr. Prom, I was two different girl's "Security Date", meaning they couldn't get a real date for whatever reasons, and KNEW that bringing me guaranteed a Baller Evening, so I went to a Sr. prom three years in a row, and I know what makes a good one vs. a bad one (Hint: Getting the DJ to play "The Thong Song" is basically a guaranteed excellent time). I can and will chit chat with all your friends and make sure they're having a great time as well (In Philadelphia, I do some freelance party promotion, and have about two years of "Making sure everyone is enjoying themselves" experience). I can seriously make talk SO SMALL that it is invisible to the naked eye.

I have personally been responsible for at least three "Most Magical Night of My Life"s as well as no less than two "A Summer I would Never Forget"s, although, obviously, for the purposes of this event I certainly have to dust off the "No Monkey Business/Perfect Gentleman" clause.

I have EXTENSIVE experience making my date's friends and peers jealous, and I also come with the optional "Point out the bitchiest bitch in your school that you hate and I will give her a severe dressing down a'la Brian from that episode of Family Guy where he does that at Meg's Prom to Connie Dimico" Package.

Last but not least, I'd like to think of myself as a relatively cool guy, and if some Prince Charming comes in halfway through and sweeps you off your feet, I would be thrilled, although I'd have to slink off like Charlie in that episode of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia where basically that same thing happens to him.

Don't know if I can compete with Hella Corsages though. That is one super smooth Mac Daddy move, right there.

Well, the two years before senior year are not usually years during which one is looking for a date to the senior prom, so I'd say this is still a point in his favor.  If he counts as "leftovers" because he was an underclassman at the time ... wait, what was your point again?

On the other hand I am also looking out for my dogg here.

I am also a little confused about why I'd be looking for a date to the Sr. Prom in my Sophomore or Jr. year of High School. Maybe time works differently in other states. Big ups to 1wheel, holdin' it down on 'D' while peeps be sippin' on Hate-o-rade.

For clarity's sake, my dreads are currently black (my natural color), but I'd be more than comfortable doing whatever with them. Hell, I'll dye them your school colors if that's whats up.
