Awwww, yeah!

When I went to the state science fair in eighth grade, there was a kid there who had made biodegradable clay pigeons. Apparently (http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m0BQY/is_7_45/ai_55605673), they went on the market at around the same time.

I was expecting this to be a thread about inventions you made as a kid that were completely awesome.

E.g. Playmobil figure + little silk thing + strings = ZOMG CHEKC IT OUT I HAVE A PARATROOPA!

Or the time we gathered ridiculous amounts of carnival toy-gun rounds, wrapped them around a stone in the floor of my friend's terrace and lit it on fire.
We were great friends afterwards, just like before. The terrace was not quite so lucky and never returned to its previous form.

More on topic, there is this 16- or 17-year old kid who invented a new way to enter your PIN digits into an ATM.
Instead of punching keys which you can spy on, you get one of these displays that you can only see through straight and you get 4 random numbers and use a little dial to adjust them to your actual PIN.
Quite clever.

The comments on that article point out that such a thing was already invented.  Good work though.

The difference is that he used ultraviolet paint, so humans won't be able to see it. The ones that are already in use use black paint, so I would imagine they really don't look good in a window.

However, if these do become popular I want to round up a group of friends and ride through neighborhoods with high power UV lights in the middle of the night!

When I was a kid I thought I invented French Toast because I was making scrambled eggs one day and accidentally dropped my bread into it. I fried it, it was awesome.
I was really, really upset when I found out other people do it too.

Seeing this thread is slowly going to become this, I may as well contribute:

When I was a kid I didn't have an alarm clock, so my sister and I came up with what we thought was the smartest idea in the world

On the shelf above my bed she put one of her Ken dolls (cos I wouldn't have barbie apparently...), and tied a piece of string to it and dangled onto my bed. The point was that at exactly 6AM (prime cartoon time), i would roll over and tug on the string, pulling on the ken doll which would come crashing down onto my head, thus waking me up. It never did, nor did I ever roll over onto a piece of string at 6AM

Goddamn what a retard I used to be

(edit: best to say here that my original idea was to use a rather large rock. I'm glad it didn't work out for that one)

SOLUTION: WindowAlert is a decal that may be applied to home and office windows. The decal contains a component which brilliantly reflects ultraviolet sunlight. This ultraviolet light is invisible to humans, but glows like a stoplight for birds.

I stand by what I said.

Nice idea but the kid is not the sharpest for thinking about not making more and selling them...

"I have this great idea that could make me rich and save the lives oh thousands of wild birds... Better think about it some more"

That's his dad's job, to capitalize on the accomplishments of his children.

So the whole family is a little "slow on the uptake" as it were...
