In light of recent events I decided to find out.
http://electricpulp.com/guykawasaki/arse/
I got an 8   :| What about you? :-o
-
Aww, man, I got a 9... What?

2. Mostly because I was giving the benefit of the doubt.
-
Now we KNOW you're lying. No self respecting Lovecraftian Nightmare is going to score a 2 on the asshole meter
-
1
-
In regular meatlife social and working environments, 0 or 1. In online games (that I'm playing seriously), 5.
-
is there a difference? I mean, I scored mine including how I act online and IRL. Flame wars, are specifically online, and the "my team against the world" for me was army attitude because you learn to trust your squad and nobody else...And I have trust and some jealousy issues as well--thank you uncle sugar. :|
-
I got a 3. I am a good person apparently.

I am a DAISY, I tell you! A DAISY in a field of clover!
-
2.
-
I got a one, but I debated on the answer I gave. The "Your jokes and teasing can get a bit nasty at times, but you have to admit, they are pretty funny." question. My friends and family tease each other horribly all the time, but we know each other well enough that it's all in fun.
-
The difference is that in real life I just play, but in games I play to win. The 'all the people around me are morons' one is pretty true in online games. Pointing out mistakes is a key part of learning to not make them again, I point them out to others and trust them to do the same for me. Other people doing similar things in a game who aren't part of your team are competition, rather than potential collaborators.

Hey what did you guys get for #6?
-
15... People don`t often see me as an asshole though, just as a very critical person. I`m sure of it. I`ll make god damn sure of it.
-
11.
-
I got a rock.
also 0
-
wow, I only got a 3.
-
1. I'm probably a little bit more of an asshole though.
-
I got a 3. I guess I'm not so bad?
-
I got 2 - apparently telling people they're wrong when they are is the first step towards being an arsehole; sorry folks.
-
I got a six. I want to see Animal Ghosts do this.
-
I got a 3.
-
3 as well. I like my horrible jokes :-(
-
I got a 3 and I was dreadfully honest about the whole thing. However, I have no trouble creating feelings of trust in others and letting them reveal their personal information to me. It's how I built up my extensive blackmail file.
;)

14. Its not my fault 9 out of my 11 immediate co-workers are physically or mentally inadequate for the job. Its insulting to me that technically we are "equally able" to perform the tasks required. I also think it is entirely fair to point out when they are showing their incompetance, because they should find a different job, and the sooner they see that the better for everyone involved. I see them as competitors because thats exactly what they are, we bid and interview for the same promotions.
-
I scored 0, but most of those questions about work and co-workers don't even apply to my job and how things are done there.
-
Yes.
-
18
-
I kind of half-assed most of those questions because they were about work and I'm jobless.
Either way, I got a 4, you fucking cunts.
-
6. that's kinda high compared to all of you unnaturally nice people who got zeros but whatevs.
-
well, mine is low because of the fact I have only worked with my friends before now.
-
I suspect the 0's and 1's and 2's might not be able to see themselves very clearly as everyone has some kind of issues... I tend to be sort of personally demanding (I do get a little jealous of other people's success and I do see my coworkers as competitors because, well, who gets the promotion and pay raise if they aren't doing better or being a kiss ass? (I've never known a kiss ass to be promoted but we always suspect someone of being a kiss ass when they do well)
well, mine is low because of the fact I have only worked with my friends before now.
so you're saying you just haven't had the opportunity to be an ass yet? Maybe you should try harder. I'm sure yo could find someone to be an ass at if you looked
-
I can genuinely say I'm a 1 because only one question was true for me. I probably would have gotten a 2 if I had counted my closest friends in the "Mean teasing" bit, but that's it.
-
I think the mean teasing bit is overly broad. I mean, I make fun of my friends and they make fun of me. And when someone's feelings get hurt for reals we apologize and move on. I don't think it's the same as humiliating a coworker because he has acne and claiming you're just joking.
-
I'm probably more of a 1 or zero, actually. I was only able to think of a few isolated incidents, but I picked the arsier one on two questions because of it. I do tend to think I'm smarter than a lot of people, but I don't act in a way that lets them know that, because that would be a pretty dick thing to do, and I probably wouldn't have very many friends. People actually do like it when I'm around. I've only ever consistently been an arse to my brother, but that's because he's a douche.
arse
-
I don't need to take a test to know I'm an arse.
-
But I did get 15.
-
0, I am genuinely like this. Guido, some people are actually just kind and reasonable.

QFT.
-
6. But really, that's just because I'm trying to be nice to people around me. Sadly, I see a lot of people as dumber and less worth than me, and I know that hurts my social life and happiness and everything, but I can't always keep it in.
-
3. I guess I'm pretty much basically not an asshole. I can, however, be pretty contemptuous of people (especially in my classes) if I think they often make stupid or inane comments.
-
I suspect the 0's and 1's and 2's might not be able to see themselves very clearly as everyone has some kind of issues...
Well, I thought the quiz was kind of stupid. Anyways there were several questions where I would agree with some parts and disagree with others, which is why I ended up saying no to all of them.
-

I got the same score and i think the same thing. Weird!
-
I've spent a lot of time going pretty far out of my way to make sure that, should a test like this come along, I get precisely the score I got. I'm not surprised by the fact that I scored 0 ... it's a daily effort for me to make sure I act that way.
-
Well, the questions themselves were all two part questions -- they asked about a behavior and then supplied a reason for the behavior. You might do the behavior but not for the reason provided, which makes the whole question not true.
-
hey, a 0. but i've spent the last month applying for jobs in social work, so frankly i'd be extremely worried if i got anything other than 0.
-
In every test of that kind I've seen, even supposedly sophisticated ones, many of the answers can only be the unavailable: "it depends". One tester told me to answer quickly, without thinking, and that it was all allowed for - I merely commented that I can't avoid thinking, but kept the "and stuff you" to myself because I am not an arsehole!
IME psychometric testing is all phooey.
-
WHy do I know I've read this entire thread before?
-
Deja vu?
Or possibly the fact that its just exceedingly short comments saying a single number that quickly gets a bit dull.
-
the fact that the answers were only in "true" and "false" format throws it off a bit too. i do a few of the things on that test, but only very occasionally (is it really possible to absolutely never be jealous of other people when they do better than you?) and i assumed the test was looking for whether or not these were things you did often so i just said no to all of them.
i don't want to be an asshole and for the last 6 months or so i have deliberately been trying very very hard to be anything but one so on tests like this i will just assume i am not one right from the get go and answer the questions accordingly. so basically tests like this are kind of biased and probably don't tell most people anything they don't already think or know. oh well, i got the answer i wanted.
-
11.
-
I got an 11, but whatever. If you're a friend of mine I'm a really nice guy, I swear. the problem is the people I don't like, obviously. they're skewing my results.
-
Hannah and I did this the other night and we both got a 0. I can see my self getting a score of 1 because of the mean teasing question but the scale for this was not that great and it was a pretty badly written survey. I probably would have used a 7-point Likert scale instead because at least those things give you a better idea of where someone sits on an arbitrary line than deliberately narrow questions with inaccurate answer systems.
Who can tell I don't like psychometrics?
-
I got a 4. I can get irritated by stupidity and I can get pretty harsh on people I don't really like.
But I did not like this test either. Not nearly enough options for answering.
-
WHy do I know I've read this entire thread before?
I know I had a "how Machiavellian are you?" thread at least over half a year ago.
-
Ah, yeah. That's right.
Feels like the same thread.
-
0, I am genuinely like this. Guido, some people are actually just kind and reasonable.
Thank god. You help make up for the rest of us
-
i get irritated by unintelligent people sometimes as well, but deep down i really love people so i will almost always try to simply distance myself from them when i find myself getting annoyed rather than go out of my way to make them feel lousy. i think a 7 point scale for the questions would have been better too.

Ever read YouTube comments?

3. I guess I'm pretty much basically not an asshole. I can, however, be pretty contemptuous of people (especially in my classes) if I think they often make stupid or inane comments.
This is the same for me. I do not make mean comments to people when they do something stupid just to be an ass, but people who routinely do/say stupid things make me want to bang my head against a wall, namely right now one of my coworkers.
-
phooey.
:-D
-
Ah, yeah. That's right.
Feels like the same thread.
you din't actually take the test I see. But by your comment I'm sure we can guess your score
-
Oh, no, don't get me wrong.
It's completely rad to have a thread where people just post an arbitrary evaluation of their behavior based on a very unscientific metric, as filtered through their own biases.
I'm just saying it looked familiar.
-
I got a 1 because sometimes I tell people they are wrong. (like, when they are wrong).
I didn't really like the binary nature of the answers, or most of the questions, really.
-
That's exactly the sort of thing an arse would dislike.
-
I have a nice respectable arseholery level of 9. The questions were retarded though.
-
I think a badge that said certified ARSE would be a good prize for this quiz. It would also give other people fair warning to run in the other direction.
-
If I take this I'll just get a blank page with YES written in 24pt font.
-
I got a five and honestly, I think the thing kind of sucked.
It suffered terribly from Hedberg syndrome, the aforementioned two part dependent questions along the lines of "do you like sugar...or pcp?" The quiz basically penalizes you for being an honest person. Then again, it's hard to take a quiz seriously when the "borderline" area accounts for around 50% of the scoring window.
In the interest of this not being just another bullshit list thread, I'll say that I find the entire thing suspect at best. I can attest that at least one person I've seen get a zero is, by my definition, a certifiable ass. I'm getting the impression that others are either failing to be honest with themselves (Seriously, how anyone short of maybe Tania could get a zero on this with some of the snark that shows up on this forum is proof of that on its own) or are only applying these questions to certain aspects of their life, rather than a whole as some of the higher scorers probably did (I kind of had to, being unemployed right now and all).
-
I got a one. The questions were kind of poorly phrased, though. I'm honestly not sure whether I would have scored higher or lower if they'd been different.
Not that other people haven't made that observation already.
-
I am amazed that this test is being taken so seriously.I doubt the writer intended it to be taken seriously.
