So, it's been quite a while since we've attempted to play a game of werewolves or mafia, so I thought, despite all evidence to the fact that we suck at these sort of games we might give it another go. But I thought instead of just playing another round of the same game, I'd offer up an alternative, which I shall call Vampires.
I will explain the rules of each game, then the masses can decide which, if either, we should play.
Werewolves
The players (or townspeople) are divided into two uneven groups, Innocents (the majority who are not told about anyone else's identity apart from their own) and the Werewolves (a minority who know who their fellow werewolves are) There are two phases to the game: night time, when the werewolves pick a single innocent target to murder and the day time where everyone votes for someone they want to be hung, at the end of the day the person with the most votes is killed. The game ends when either all werewolves have been hung (victory to the innocent) or when the werewolves outnumber the innocents (werewolf victory) The game can also include character roles such as the Priest (who can place holy protection over one person per night, rendering them immune to werewolf attack) a seer (who can spy on one person per night to find out if they are innocent or guilty) and a jailor (a new, experimental character that I will explain more about if we chose to play werewolves)
Vampires
At the start of the game there is only a single vampire - the head vampire everyone else is an innocent during the fist night that vampire choses one person to bite, who ever is chosen will become a vampire minion, every night from then on the head vampire can either choose to convert someone else him/herself or send one of his minions to convert someone.
During the day the villagers will decide upon one person to test - that person will be bathed with holy water, if that person is innocent, nothing happens if however they are a vampire they and everyone who they converted or was converted by someone they conversed (and so on and so forth) will die. The game ends if the head vampire is killed - thus killing all subsequent vampires - resulting in a human victory or the entire town is converted to vampires (obviously a victory to the vampires)
The only other character would be a cleric who can attempt to cleanse one person per night, cleansing has no effect on humans and if a vampire minion is cleansed, they are returned to their original human self. however the head vampire can not be cleansed and if the cleric attempts to do so he or she will instead end up dead. This variable would mean that an element of secrecy would have to be kept even within the vampire ranks so that if a minion is cleansed he can not simply inform the village of the identity of the head vampire but at the same time you wouldn't want the vampire minions accidentally voting for the head vampire to be tested.
Be warned vampires may fail dismally, I’ve never tested it before

While Vampires does sound interesting (given that it is newer) I don't know how well it would play and I think you might need to give more thought to the game before we attempt it. I vote for Werewolves and if that goes well then we should try out a game of Vampires.

Let's play "HUAC". The players are divided into two groups: McCarthyists and Pinkos. One player is the Senator. The Senator has a List of all the Pinkos. However nobody else is allowed to see the List. At the start of each round the McCarthyists are allowed to ask one person if they are or ever have been a Pinko. If the person is not a Pinko, he or she will know somebody who is. If however the person is a Pinko, he or she will deny it or refuse to answer the question. That's how you know they're a Pinko.
The game finishes when Democracy has been thoroughly debased.
(I guess that's a vote for "C", but I never participate in these things anyway.)

What Jimmy said.

Werewolves, vampires misses the element of accidentally killing an innocent and that sense that you thoroughly done fucked up.
-
Werewolves!
-
werewolves sounds awesome!
-
Werewolves; I think the plot for vampires could've been improved.
-
So to play this game you pretty much have to check in the forum at least once a day?
-Werewolves sounds like it could be easier to play.
-
What Harry said.
-
i also vote werewolves.
-
Echoing what other people have said. Vampires sounds like a good idea maybe when it's a bit more developed.
-
Werewolves for sure.
-
Uhoh, better join the bandwagon here.
Werewolves! Yeah! Woo!

Ok, entry will close when I am next on the interenet. (ie tomorrow afternoon/evening)
Just reminding people that just cos you voted or posed your oppinion on if we should play werewolves doesn't mean you're down to play, so if you want to play post here. Also reminding people that playing werewolves does have an element of commitment to it, so if you know you wont be online for the next while, or your not sure if you'll be bothered to check this place semi regularly then I'd ask that you not put yourself down to play.
But with all that said, truely the more the merrier, I have a cunning plan that should hopefully decrease the amount of time the game takes to play if there are a lot of people.
