Funny story, at an ice cream shoppe in Chicago we came across a flyer for a company that will set up one of a number of murder mystery scenarios in your house that you can LARP through. Unfortunately this was at the tail end of the trip.

Are murder mysteries not a big thing in America?
I suggested Berlin because:
a) equally distant for most of us in Europe
b) pretty cheap (we book out a couple of rooms in the generator hostel or something, buy combined week tram/train tickets, spend all night drinking in the Kunsthaus Tacheles).

Hell yes! I suggest Amsterdam. Everyone speaks your language in Amsterdam. The distance is managable, the public transport is good (stay away from taxis, though), although I don't know about prices, and... I live nearby!

Can I get in on this? I've got plans to visit both London and Berlin in 2010 so it would be easy for me to do that whenever you guys are going to be there, and then have a drink with people from the internet. It was pretty entertaining last time, I got so drunk I won at poker.

I'll be honest, I'd be more likely to get into a Britain meetup than a west coast US meetup. If the US one ends up in NYC, I might even do both.

I have a feeling you would fucking love the Kunsthaus Tacheles. It's basically just this enormous squat full of bars and art galleries where they let you smoke pot.

Everytime I've made a checklist of attendees to meetups in the UK or Europe, the number of female names on that list has always been between zero and two, with up to a dozen other names on the list. However, it didn't strike me as note-worthy until this post and would probably have gone completely unnoticed by me had nobody pointed it out.

i know i have mentioned my sister who lives in the netherlands like 500 times in the last year or so but she has been asking me to visit her for ages and i still haven't for some reason, but i definitely will at some point in the near future. if i try to schedule it around the same time that this happens, maybe i'll be able to attend for a couple of days after all.

So I dunno if you guys picked up on this or not, but Hogmanay happens whether or not you are there, and some of us will be celebrating in Glasgow whether or not you are there, so feel free to come to Glasgow for Hogmanay because a few of us will be there anyway!

I'm totally in on Hogmany, that would be awesome. Eurocon would be pretty cool; I'm rooting for London because it's easier for me to get to, I'm not sure I could afford Germany but we'll see.

I'm gonna be in Glasgow this coming fall semester, but I'm leaving right before Christmas (my visa will say that I can't stay in the country longer than a week after my schooling ends). Maybe a pre-Christmas/pre-Hogmanay/Goodbye Christopher, get the hell out of our country-con?

I'm taking a tent and some camping supplies, but this is something I am doing in the summer of 2011. Already got it planned out. First I have to learn to fish and start a good campfire.

I'm making a trip to London some time in October to see the Mountain Goats.
I'm probably going to spend the better part of Hogmanay in Edinburgh, but I can travel to Glasgow during the day and do a QCon.

In theory I want to take Aaron to Scotland and England next year but currently the thought of saving that much money in such a short time seems totes impossible. Mostly because he earns liek half as much as me and it will take him 10 years to save for something like that.
Also the thought of being in an airplane again currently has me screaming and flailing around because I AM TIRED OF AIRPLANES AND TRAVEL YOU DICKS.
