Title: game
Post by: Melodic on 15 Sep 2009, 16:03
it is pretty good but there could've been more pixels

what do you think about the game

The story was pretty silly.

I really liked how each analog stick controlled a breast.

I think it was cool how it wasn't too easy but it wasn't very hard either.

Also the part where you could run instead of walking.

I didn't that like that they put Sonic in it for fan service though. It's not a problem though.
Title: Re: game
Post by: Alex C on 15 Sep 2009, 20:45
Nah, it's way overrated. Game is waaay too meta. Take the same community and have 'em play tf2 and I bet you'll see more people having fun.
Title: Re: game
Post by: Bastardous Bassist on 15 Sep 2009, 20:58
Are you saying all games should be played for entertainment value?  The Game is out there to prove that they can be art.  Sure, I might enjoy playing TF2 more, but I enjoy life more after playing The Game.  Plus, the part with the bloodhound and the rock with the face drawn on it wouldn't have been out of place in a movie.
Title: Re: game
Post by: Scarychips on 15 Sep 2009, 21:00
But movies and games are two completely dfferent mediums. Games can be considered as art, but the ways things are represented are different.
Title: Re: game
Post by: Bastardous Bassist on 15 Sep 2009, 21:04
Sure, there's the interactive part, but you got to play as the eyebrows on the rock.

You're just being a fanboy. Game 2 tightened up the controls and you know how you could jump in the first one? You can still do that.

Post by: Boro_Bandito on 16 Sep 2009, 08:20
Shit, can anyone figure out how to get past the part where you're facing a giant? It's like, you're a mouse, what the heck are you supposed to do? I think they designed that to be impossible.
Title: Re: game
Post by: Blue Kitty on 16 Sep 2009, 10:24
It's actually pretty simple, all you have to do is wait.  I guess the giant has a very advanced form of cancer and all you have to do is wait for him to die.  Just hide being the cupboard and it'll keel over in a few minutes.

You know what this game could use? Shotguns.

Oh, yeah, I found that one, but I discarded it in favor of the crossbow that shoots daggers. What I meant to say was pump-action shotguns, that would add just the extra touch here.
Title: Re: game
Post by: Boro_Bandito on 17 Sep 2009, 09:43
Yeah, I agree, auto-shotguns just don't feel as powerful as when you've got that pump-action to it. Makes it feel like its charging up, if not adding a little more suspense to those dark areas. Though I gotta say, its still utter bullshit that the only weapon you can hold a flashlight with is the fishing pole, amirite? Those things don't even work against some of them, you know?
Title: Re: game
Post by: Bastardous Bassist on 17 Sep 2009, 09:54
You just need subtlety to wield the fishing pole, if you've got that down, then it's easily the most powerful weapon in the game.  I one-hitted the dire ware-wombat with it.
Title: Re: game
Post by: Alex C on 17 Sep 2009, 10:14
Yeah, I wish they had something like that in WoW. I mean, sure, you can autoattack with a fishing rod, but what I really need is something like a 1 handed Ron Popeil pocket fisherman that I'm allowed to Sinister Strike with. That way I could show those bastards who attack me while I'm fishing what's what without having to swap weapons.
Title: Re: game
Post by: Christophe on 17 Sep 2009, 10:43
Anyone played the multiplayer version of game yet? Enabling the fishing rod really makes the game three different kinds of unbalanced.
Title: Re: game
Post by: pen on 17 Sep 2009, 10:54
I'm not a huge gamer, by any stretch, so my opinion doesn't really have much to do with content, but oh good lord it's pretty!
Title: Re: game
Post by: snalin on 17 Sep 2009, 10:59
Nah, the graphics are pretty last-year. They should've done something more simplistic

There's a terrible glitch where the Giraffe-bazooka's texture goes through walls and stuff, terribly mood-breaking.
Title: Re: game
Post by: Bastardous Bassist on 17 Sep 2009, 11:22
I'm sure the extra pixels that it should have had would fix all of the clipping issues.  More pixels make everything better.
Title: Re: game
Post by: smack that isaiah on 17 Sep 2009, 11:24
Did you see the original designs for the graphics?  cell shaded everything.  Would've been pretty as fuck, yet they went in a completely opposite direction halfway through.  :(
Title: Re: game
Post by: evilbobthebob on 17 Sep 2009, 11:26
Well damn. That would have been awesome.

Anyone managed to level up enough to use the LHC as a superweapon? I'm taking the slow route through this university thing. Taking some time off though before the four years of solid grinding.

Ugh. I am so sick of people whining about the fishing rod. It's a legitimate part of the game, and just 'cause you're too stupid to overcome it that doesn't make it "unbalanced". l2p

Dude, it would have looked like a kiddie game. Lemme guess, you only own a wii, right?
Title: Re: game
Post by: Boro_Bandito on 17 Sep 2009, 14:33
I like the direction they finally decided to take the graphics, anyway. Far more elegant than cell-shading. After all, if they'd done it that way it would've just been a Wind Waker clone.

I don't understand the masturbastion gun portion guys halp.  Like, do you jack it and edge off until you reach the target dummy with Mitt Romney's face on it or do you just shoot your load into Pelosi's mouth?  I mean I am usually pretty good with these point-and-dick minigames but this one is really difficult.

I've been hearing rumors of Game 3, but it's a different dev team. I dunno, I think I want to at least see some screen shots before I get my hopes up. I still want them to get back to the feel of Game 1.
Title: Re: game
Post by: Scarychips on 17 Sep 2009, 17:57
Well, if you like Game 1 so much, why don't you just play through it again? Apparently, if it has been 3 months that you finished it and you play again, you get the maximum difficulty level. You should definitely revisit it again.
Title: Re: game
Post by: Bastardous Bassist on 17 Sep 2009, 20:06
Oh God.  I hate it when they take it to a different studio.  The other studio always misses the main point of the original.  They're probably just going to turn it into an FPS, instead of blending in the elements from the hunting and rhythm genres that made the original so brilliant.

I guess I shouldn't be surprised you guys like game, you guys would like this kind of pretentious shit wouldn't you? I bet you guys all like book too.

Hey man, I just happen to like art!

Any one been able to find the soundtrack that producer put out for it?  I loved listening to it during game, and would love to have a copy myself (the super insane metal melt-your-face riff was epic).

Oh yeah, the cowbell part! And then it all goes phwoosh and his head just comes flying off! Comic genius right there, laughed my ass off rewinding it like 12 times. You gotta love the just completeness of how this game feels, you know, its when they throw in the little things like a video replay feature, they didn't have to do that.

Guys how do you cure poison effects I think I've been hit urgh.
Title: Re: game
Post by: Jimmy the Squid on 18 Sep 2009, 02:54
You have to spin around three times (counter-clockwise) and then pistol-whip the shopkeeper in Generic Town #8. The trick to it is that you have to be kneeling down behind the counter while you do it so you're essentially hitting him in the groin. Works though.
Title: Re: game
Post by: Jimmy the Squid on 18 Sep 2009, 02:56
That's probably what I love most about this game. The realism.
Title: Re: game
Post by: Boro_Bandito on 18 Sep 2009, 09:02
If you'd read the manual thoroughly you'd know all three of the ways to cure poison, honestly, people never take time to read the manuals for game anymore. I mean, especially those idiots back when original game came out who couldn't figure out how to get past the second stage because of the copy protection written into the manual, probably pirates anyway, who then went on to say how buggy game was when in reality its their own stupid fault, and the sales just plummeted from these "early" reviews. God I hate people. Love game, hate people.

Sorry dude, my Torrent client is like, fucked. I'd normally seed it though.

Can anyone confirm for me the release dates for the DLC? One of my friends mentioned something about obesity classes and food gauges and completely overpriced shit for console versions but he was too busy having an orgasm about the news to explain it properly to me.
Title: Re: game
Post by: LTK on 19 Sep 2009, 17:05
If you want the DLC you're going to have to bake an apple pie and send it by postal to the developers. If they think it's tasty enough, you get a return mail with the passcode you have to input after you solve the puzzle on the website.

I am so glad they didn't put that SecuROM crap on the game, that was such a relief.

Title: Re: game
Post by: satsugaikaze on 28 Sep 2009, 09:08
You have to admit, the date-rape stuff was probably the most innovative use of the Sixaxis so far, but the Wiimote control was pretty forseeable, though. It's also a pity they reduced it to quick-time events on the 360. And more importantly, what the hell is with the need to use the random sequence of bullet-time combo buttons and both mouse buttons at the same fucking time on the PC version? I mean, it's probably the most extensive third-party content created for a game but it's as if the modders are trying to get you to acheive something here. Read: I just want the characters to inflict some psychological abuse, not get a fucking ten-hit-combo

While we're on the subject, implementing the score multiplier was pretty shitty considering most of the sequences thought it would be funny to invert all the keys and buttons during that time and anyone with the right sense of how the stupid peripherals are meant to work have to go to the fricking pause menu just to change it for the occasion. Playing this thing more and more just shows more and more flaws as I go.

I'm starting to doubt whether it was worth the apple pie.
Title: Re: game
Post by: smack that isaiah on 28 Sep 2009, 10:33
Wow, you played it on every system for which it came out? Even the PC?  What a fanboy.  You might have liked the date-rape sequences a bit too much.  or maybe you liked the teletubbies too much

Title: Re: game
Post by: satsugaikaze on 29 Sep 2009, 03:20
Well, I own two versions but you can't have missed out on any of them from the E3 demonstrations if you've been there or on the internet.

Like, the developers went all the way in their own little booth with all the strippers and the Limited Edition handouts of bonus inventory Rohypnol. I was pretty hooked by the claim that they could STACK custom mods on top of each other, which is probably the main appeal of it all.
My personal favourite combination was the "Gears of Gore" + "Steve Irwin Archangel" + "Instagib Wangs" + "Wee Golf". A friend suggested adding the "Lolicon Multiply" mod on the PC but the way they animated some of the models hurt my eyeballs in a way an Unreal engine adaptation never should.

What's your favourite combination guys, choices and choices
