Farmville is okay. It gets very obnoxious having to farm 2000 plots and seed them all over again.
What I don't like about facebooks games is the controlled pace of most of them. In mafiawar-like games you have to wait to restore your energy. While in farmville you have to wait for plants to grow.
Uh - I agree?
What I meant to add to this discussion, is asking if there where any that were/are good at all, and ones to avoid

most facebook games are obnoxious in general.
i use facebook to stalk keep in touch with people, not to be updated on their progress in fuckin' mafia wars or sorority life. (yes, i know you can hide all that junk/block app invites but then they add even MORE JUNK and it never ends and it makes me reconsider being their facebook friend)

but text twist is kinda cool.

AHHHH C'MON FUCK FARMVILLE
That game is some tedious crap. I friended my cousin a few months ago and his initial contact was to invite me to play that stupid game. So I did. And it was 'tarded.

Can anyone recommend a chess application on Facebook? Last time I did a search there were, like, a million of them but I only want one good one.

I think there was one that was just called Chess...here it is (http://www.facebook.com/sean.massanopoli?ref=profile#/apps/application.php?id=2427617054&ref=appd).  Actually, turns out a lot of them have that name, this one is just the most popular, and you also have the option to play against a computer.  I think it lets you determine how long another player has before they have to forfeit their turn, and a bunch of other things.

I guess it won't do any good to spout off about how Facebook games are a great way to breach the already-thin wall of privacy in your Facebook account? Or talk about how the Mafia Wars / Farmville company is totally odious?

The only good Chess app I've found is the one from Chess.com and it's just better if you join the actual site.
