I've looked through the last 10 pages of threads (about a year and a half), and I couldn't find a thread dedicated to this topic - there were a few individual instances, but I thought there was a thread I could resurrect. So maybe it's time to make one?
At any rate, check out what's selling at Shortpacked! (http://www.shortpacked.com/2010/comic/book-12/05-neww-2010-comics/prime/)
-
PC World gave those models a two-star rating - a "DO NOT BUY WILL CAUSE PHYSICAL DAMAGE" recommendation.
...And is that Jeph in the background of panel two?
-
Kinda short for Jeph, but it could be. After all, Willis can only draw a certain number of people before he (http://www.itswalky.com/d/19970908.html) repeats (http://www.joyceandwalky.com/) himself (http://www.shortpacked.com/)...
-
Davan and Nancy of Something Positive, strip 511.
Amy and Shelley of Scary Go Round, strip 519.
-
Oh, there's MUCH more. Especially during the Speed Beer arc.
EDIT: Let's see if I can track these down...
- 171 - Lil' Sis and Clango from Diesel Sweeties
- 511 - Davin and PeeJee (or is that Nancy?) from Something Positive
- 519 - Amy and Shelley from Scary Go Round
- 653 - (Technically) McPedro from Girls With Slingshots (he's on Raven's t-shirt)
- 855 - Eve from AppleGeeks
- 1246 - SEVERAL "Cameos": Rich Stevens, Meredith Gran; Holly Laing (?), Jon Rosenberg (?); Wil Wheaton, Rene Engstrom, Jon Rosenberg
- 1389 - The Speed Beer Arc: Jeph states he drew some of his friends in the background - including, once again,
Wesley Crusher Wil Wheaton. - 1391 - MOAR CAMEOS! Jamie and Hazel from Girls with Slingshots; Kimiko Ross from Dresden Kodak; Eve Ning from Octopus Pie; Anders von Silfersked (?) from Anders Loves Maria; Indie-rock Pete(?) from Diesel Sweeties; Jam (Angela) from Wasted Talents; Conrad and Ananth from Johnny Wander; there are at least two other characters that I can't quite ID.
- 1550 - Amber O'Malley from Shortpacked! (Dave Willis did a "parallel strip" where Faye said her line in a different coffee shop)
(This list obviously does NOT include guest strips, by the way.)
Anyone who wants to help out with some of the others, feel free.
EDIT: I'm not entirely sure who Jeph was talking about in 1246. I still say the third panel looks more like Danielle and Randy...
-
Actually, I was thinking more the other way 'round, appearances by QC characters in other strips.
And I finally found the thread I meant to resurrect (http://forums.questionablecontent.net/index.php/topic,23985.0.html). I don't think there's a way to merge the two, though.
-
Kim from Dresden Codak was also on IRC with Pintsize and his AnthroPC friends, than tweeted at Marten about it. Later, she and Hanners had a lengthy Twitter exchange.
-
Today's Something Positive (http://somethingpositive.net/sp12012010.shtml) first panel.
-
I can't believe I missed that!
-
Posted in the weekly thread, but it belongs in here!
Insane Yeti Squirrel - Hanners at coffee of doom being assoulted by a desperate cold person (http://www.insaneyetisquirrel.com/comic/baby-its-cold-outside)
Edit: apparantly the woman with the cat hat is the comic's protagonist.
Sort of.
-
Looing at that, I can't tell if Hanners is delighted, or freaking out. I'd argue for delighted, but that seems so un-Hanners-like.
-
I don't think this one's been posted... I'm kind of cheating because Mr. Rowland put the link to it in his news for today. Overcompensating (http://overcompensating.com/posts/20080609.html) - first panel!
-
I don't think this one's been posted... I'm kind of cheating because Mr. Rowland put the link to it in his news for today. Overcompensating (http://overcompensating.com/posts/20080609.html) - first panel!
.....by god, even poster-faye can burn down a building.
-
She finally figured out how to set stuff on fire with her mind. Lucky thing she and Angus are buddy-buddy now.
-
The Hallucination Monster is making an appearance in Life and Death. (http://www.drunkduck.com/Life_and_Death/index.php?p=780831)
-
....and he's talking with a pink elepjhant! How apropos...
-
In today's FANS! (http://www.faans.com/) update. Apparently, she has heretofore unmentioned special knowledge of post-tsunami reconstruction procedures.
Oh, and Marigold. :psyduck:
Quoted and linked from Hannelore goes to Korea (http://forums.questionablecontent.net/index.php/topic,26028.msg1007501.html#msg1007501)
-
Willis does one-off Shortpacked!s for TNI (http://toynewsi.com/news.php?catid=242&itemid=16968#). Last panel, the guy on the left. I still think it's Jeph - we've seen him before, see my previous Shortpacked! link.
-
Just posting to point out that the Vertigo comic 'House of Mystery' has a back up feature this month (I picked mine up yesterday) in which the character is watching a building collapse from inside Coffee of Doom and Marten and Faye are in panel on the sidewalk. Gene Ha must be a fan.
-
Could you scan the panel for those of us without a nearby comic shop? I'd love to see it...
Just in case you were wondering, small partial uses are not a copyright violation, so long as you also list the attribution (and you already did...)
-
Today, this (http://wondermark.com/707/) reminded me of this (http://questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=1294).
-
I came across this page listing QC crossovers (http://www.dragoneers.com/crossovers/Questionable.html), which seems to fit in this thread. It's largely old links (some dead), but has a few more recent updates, even this year.
-
That's a good find. I've added it to the wiki.
-
Resurrected. Recent Weregeek (http://forums.questionablecontent.net/index.php/topic,26939.0.html) and Whiteboard (http://forums.questionablecontent.net/index.php/topic,26878.0.html) threads.
-
It's a thread revival! Anyone got a big tent we can borrow for it?
http://www.somethingpositive.net/sp09292011.shtml
-
OK, this one's a stretch...
Shortpacked has been in a coffeehouse for the last three days. Today, we see a bit more of it - the wall color, the plant by the door, the chalkboard (http://www.shortpacked.com/2011/comic/book-13/04-remedial-adulthood/togo/)...
They've been in CoD before, too!
-
The Shortpacked! coffee house is called "Coffeeright Theft" BTW.
-
random comment about that comic: I love the perspective in the last panel. Anyway, yeah, I think CoD is a stretch, especially since his mug doesn't have a face on it.
-
That's almost 100% CoD.
-
There's a comic with Marten, Faye and Dora in Coffeeright Theft (http://www.shortpacked.com/2006/comic/book-2-pulls-the-drama-tag/06-the-drama-tag/groundhog/); I think it's a version of CoD myself. There's a blackboard (even though unused), and the walls are the right colour. And the line: "We pay extra to be hated"!
-
hmm, interesting. I didn't read Shortpacked back then (and still haven't gone back to read the archives). I suppose it's likely that it's a tribute to CoD, just kind of an alternate universe version.
-
No, definitely CoD. The next day, Amber complains about her Latte (http://questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=1550)..
-
OK, this one is really a stretch.
"Mirror, mirror, on the wall,
whose butts disease is worst of all (http://www.dumbingofage.com/2011/comic/book-2/01-pajama-jeans/vouch/)?"
-
I...I'm fairly sure I don't want to know, whether Jeph got butts disease from David Willis or the other way around.
-
I...I'm fairly sure I don't want to know, whether Jeph got butts disease from David Willis or the other way around.
Butt's disease can only be passed by butts.

I'm glad I don't smoke then.

Thanks for introducing me to Joyce and Walky, Carl-E.

Thanks for introducing me to Joyce and Walky, Carl-E.
Have fun - the archives go back to teh '90's (with Roomies!)
-
Resurrected for the recent appearance of a Hannelore panel in another webcomic (QUILTBAG (http://www.pennyandaggie.com/index.php?p=1280), formerly Penny & Aggie, originally noted in the WCDT (http://forums.questionablecontent.net/index.php/topic,27717.msg1070506.html#msg1070506))
-
Resurected (again). (Re-resurrected? For this thread, re-re-re-resurrected!)
Jeph did a Weregeek guest strip today (http://www.weregeek.com/2012/03/21/). He mentioned it in the newspost.
The guy far right in the last panel looks like Marten, but I'm pretty sure it's Jeph's take of one of Weregeek's protagonists.
You draw what you know, after all!
-
Because of that comic I thought Jeph had really named his kitten Garrus.
No such luck.
-
Coffeehouse and baristas guested in a forum member's comic;
http://groovykinda.org/2012/03/27/bitchin-librarian/
LOVE the special...
-
Night time is Magical Love Gentleman (http://www.unintentionallypretentious.com/index.asp?c=167) time!
-
OK, today (May 14th) Something Positive, panel 8. Looks like someone's trying to sell PT401X (http://www.somethingpositive.net/sp05102012.shtml)...
-
Familiar character in a walkby tomorrow (Monday) on www.groovykinda.org
-
The cast over at Times Like This (http://timeslikethis.com/?id=531) are talking about a business that rents robotic bodies to people. The author, Thomas Overbeck, says that part of his inspiration was this QC story arc. (http://www.questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=1012)
-
It would be strange if what Nicki mentions in that strip actually happens.
"Yeah, I came up with a robot VR thing for seniors and adults to play with so they can feel young again."
"Where'd you come up with the idea?"
"Oh, an old copy of Questionable Content Volume 4."
-

I'm not sure if Overbeck was aware, but a technology like this already exists, though it's quite basic at this stage. It's known as beaming (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-17905533).
-
I guess this (http://www.qwantz.com/index.php?comic=2224) counts as a guest appearance for the comic, not any specific characters.
Jeph's twitter reaction was sweet and amusing.
-
Ressurrection!
They're in the coffee shop again in today's Shortpacked (http://www.shortpacked.com/2012/comic/book-14/04-proposition-for-69k/proposition-2/). Note especially the hair on the person behind the counter in the first panel, and the glasses behind the register.
-
A little old, but possible appearance in Weregeek (http://www.weregeek.com/2008/11/26/). That looks like Raven over on the left of the first panel.
Mah evedensez:
- Pink hair. The dye isn't in exactly the same place, but that could just be the result of it growing out and being re-dyed.
- Makeup - purple/pink lipstick and eyeshadow. No piercings, but that could just be because they are too small to draw at this size.
- Posture is Raven-ish
- Seems the same build as Raven
- Strip 963 (http://questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=963)
I don't usually enumerate stuff like that but I just felt like it today. Also, hi.
-
Welcome, new person!
That's quite plausible.
-
Getting linked to a random QC comic is almost as bad as getting linked to TV Tropes.
-
Jeph himself in Overcompensating (http://www.overcompensating.com/posts/20120823.html)
-
Pintsize, panel 8, center-bottom. Next to the maggot guy.
http://samandfuzzy.com/1623
Semi-confirmed in Sept 7th's Q&A.
-
Permalink to yesterday's Groovy, Kinda (http://groovykinda.org/2012/11/05/bitchin-cameo/).
Faye gets a comeuppance...
Check out the mouseover text!

Don't know if anyone reads The Whiteboard...
http://www.the-whiteboard.com/autotwb1379.html
http://www.the-whiteboard.com/autotwb1380.html
-
That one was pointed out way back when we were waiting for its reappearance.
-
Wasn't sure. Just noticed it while doing an archive dive for a particular strip.
-
Well, I just found another one, but no appearances by anyone from QC. In "Times Like This", Nicki gets asked about other robots that she may find attractive, and Pintsize gets a mention. "One night stand." :-P
The comic is right here (http://timeslikethis.com/?id=596).
-
She's chatted with Pintsize before. (http://timeslikethis.com/?id=192)
-
As I did with the original "Hannelore goes to Korea" thread, I'm noting the quoted FANS! link is for their current strip. This is the permalink for the specific strip (http://www.faans.com/worse-than-the-disease-3-of-21/) that Hanners and Marigold appear in.
AAANNNNDDD, I just sifted through the better part of the 150-strip Quiltbag archive to find the permalink for this (http://quiltbag.keenspot.com/d/20111227.html). Quiltbag is a spinoff, a separate storyline from Penny & Aggie proper.

Marigold is behind her, too.

Sam Logan of Sam and Fuzzy did a twitter based sketch-off, drawing things his fans suggested. One of the suggestions was Fuzzy as a familiar character around here...
-
Well, I suspected Shortpacked! was in Coffee of Doom ("Coffeeright Theft" in-comic) for the last couple of days, but today's not only given us Faye at the counter and board specials, but Claire in line (probably fetching coffee for Marten and another banana smoothie for Emily)...
Permalinky: http://www.shortpacked.com/2013/comic/book-15/01-about-face/bores/
-
I never realized Faye looked so much like Amber...
-
Well, the boss drew Amber a bit different (http://www.questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=1550).
-
Well, the boss drew Amber a bit different (http://www.questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=1550).
Ah. How do we know that's Amber? There's absolutely no indication of it that I can see.
Never mind, having now read the earlier parts of this thread I see where it was explained. Cool. 8-)
-
Good, 'cause I don't read SP! like I used to.
-
a comic i've been reading for a while-its been around about as long as qc.
not sure if this is supposed to be faye-looks like her (http://www.leasticoulddo.com/comic/20090403/)
and
we all know this one!!! (http://www.leasticoulddo.com/comic/20090411/)
the first page of the comic if anyone is interested. its kind of hard to find. (http://www.leasticoulddo.com/comic/20030210/)
-
Nice find!
-
Thanks to Masterpiece for this one...
In Dumbing of Age for August 1st 2013 (http://www.dumbingofage.com/2013/comic/book-3/04-just-hangin-out-with-my-family/mister/), last panel, lower left corner.
The entire Whitaker family visiting Faye at college.
Happier times. Kinda eerie, actually...
-
Not quite a guest appearance, but close: Rosemary Mosco (http://birdandmoon.tumblr.com/post/68056011559/if-youre-looking-for-natural-science-themed) recommended the Yelling Bird whiteboard on her site:
If you’re looking for natural-science-themed holiday gifts, check out my TopatoCo store (http://www.topatoco.com/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=TO&Category_Code=ROMO), which is full of shirts, posters and other goodies.
Be sure to browse around TopatoCo, too because it’s packed with amazing work from all sorts of incredible, hilarious creators. I mean really, how could you go wrong with this dry erase board (http://www.topatoco.com/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=TO&Product_Code=QC-YELLINGBOARD&Category_Code=QC) that allows you to put words in the mouth of the noble Dickcissel, Spiza americana?
I wonder if Jeph knows about Bird and Moon? Seems like something he'd like.
-
Hi. Of all the things too bring me back in here...
Check out the pizza box lid!
http://www.shortpacked.com/index.php?id=2079
-
CARL! Good seeing ya!
-
Hiiii Doctor Nick!
No, wait. Hiiii Doctor Carl!
-
Well, yeah - who else would dig up this old dead thread!
But I'm not back - not really. I just had to post that, is all. I've not even been lurking, so I'm sorry but it's one of those hi/bye things.
Good to see y'all, though!
-
Hi/bye notwithstanding, I posted a June 10 Carl-E meetup in Chatter.
-
Shortpacked for June 23rd.
3rd panel (http://www.shortpacked.com/index.php?id=2093).
Willis has really captured her hair...
-
Well... it's been a few years, but today definitely qualifies.
Dina, from Dumbing of age (https://www.questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=3766)
-
Well... it's been a few years, but today definitely qualifies.
Dina, from Dumbing of age (https://www.questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=3766)
Can I squee now, or is it customary to wait?
-
Depends.
Is anyone within earshot?
-
Looks like Dina bought the t-shirt... (http://www.dumbingofage.com/2018/comic/book-9-comic/01-flyin-to-the-red/terrorturkey/)
-
I just read that strip and missed that.
-
It actually took me a second read to realize where I know the name "Coffee of Doom" from.
:psyduck:
-
Sooooo.... this is a stretch, but we've seen Dina before, from Dumbing of Age, and she suddenly appeared in Girl Genius.
http://www.girlgeniusonline.com/comic.php?date=20181031 (http://www.girlgeniusonline.com/comic.php?date=20181031)
