Title: Christmas time is here...
Post by: KickThatBathProf on 05 Dec 2010, 23:07
and I hate most Christmas albums ever!

There are only a few that I can think of (and one is kind of a joke):

Nat King Cole - The Christmas Song
Low - Christmas
Rush Coil - 8bit Christmas

Enlighten me for I am a harsh critic of Christmas songs.

I for one absolutely love the Ventures' version of "Sleigh Ride", or any instrumental rendition of that tune for that matter.

Only correct answer, in my book. Acquiring the Low album as we speak, though.

Speaking of punk, there was a totally random Wizo/Hi Standard christmas split in the early 90s.

I'm guessing it's because they were both on Fat back in the day. Otherwise it really doesn't make sense.

All I can think of is that Very Scary Solstice album that has been uploaded.  I know, lets upload all these awesome albums we're talking about.

Nice.

Also, I think David Bazan has a Christmas 7" floating around somewhere... I have only heard his rendition of God Rest Ye Merry Gentleman which is beautiful and incredibly depressing at once.

my favorite christmas song:

"Merry Christmas from the Family"

Mom got drunk and Dad got drunk at our Christmas party
We were drinking champagne punch and homemade eggnog
Little sister brought her new boyfriend
He was a Mexican
We didn't know what to think of him
Till he sang Feliz Navidad, Feliz Navidad

Brother Ken brought his kids with him
The three from his first wife Lynn
And the two identical twins from his second wife Mary-Nell
Of course he brought his new wife Kay
Who talks all about AA
Chain smoking while the stereo plays Noel, Noel
The First Noel

Carve the Turkey
Turn the ball game on
It's margaritas when the eggnog's gone
Send somebody to the Quickpak Store
We need some ice and an extension chord
A can of bean dip and some Diet Rites
A box of Pampers, Marlboro Lights
Halelluja everybody say cheese
Merry Christmas from the family

Fred and Rita drove from Harlingen
I can't remember how I'm kin to them
But when they tried to plug their motor home in
They blew our Christmas lights
Cousin David knew just what went wrong
So we all waited out on our front lawn
He threw the breaker and the lights came on
And we sang Silent Night, Silent Night, Oh Holy Night

Carve the turkey turn the ball game on
Mix Bloody Marys Cause We All Want One!
Send somebody to the Stop 'N Go
We need some celery and a can of fake snow
A bag of lemons and some Diet Sprites
A box of Tampons, some Salem Lights
Halelluja, everybody say cheese
Merry Christmas from the Family

Feliz Navidad!

If I had a USB turntable I'd rip it. But if I can find a copy on MF or something I'll let you know.

dunno if you have a mac (you could maybe do this on a windows/other machine),
but I just run garage band, an 1/8"-1/8" cord (or 1/4" to 1/8" if you have an older turntable, as I do) from the headphone jack of the player into the audio input jack of my computer, and record into garage band.  I've ripped pretty well over half a dozen random/rare vinyl releases that I couldn't find anywhere and wanted to share with little trouble.
The cord was, like, $4 from a instrument shop and it was all I needed.

I do, and the first time I tried that everything came in WAY too hot/distorted.

I'll give it another go though, and just mess around with levels.

I think I might make it my new years resolution never to drink anything named after a weapon or method of execution ever again.
