What? :psyduck:
Come on man, artists have got to be allowed to experiment and you're wrong anyway because Walking Far From Home fucking rules.
-
Sounds about as lame as ever.
-
Yeah I'm really into Walking Far From Home as a single, and I'm super excited for his new album.
-
I snagged the album from the WINK WINK thread, and only listened to it, like, a week later and genuinely thought I had grabbed the wrong thing.
...then I thought I had maybe missed out on some kind of new direction he had been gradually heading and remembered I have Around the Well so I was even more confused.
Basically I was really confused on the CTA on Wednesday night for about ten minutes until I turned on Kind of Like Spitting instead.

At least this was a million times better than Sufjan Stevens' new album.
-
This is actually a sound that he's been cooking for a while, I think. I've got a two-song promo CD-single that my friendly local record store owner gave me back in 2007 when the Shepherd's Dog came out and it's got all sorts of fuzz and effects pedal trickery and electronic bleeps and bloops all over it.

I was all ready to come in her to yell at the OP but then it turns out that dang it all, these songs really do suck!
OK so "Walking Far From Home" is OK, it has a really nice melody, but the arrangement does absolutely nothing positive for it. I can't imagine how this possibly wouldnt have been infinitely better off as more standard I&W fare.

These songs sound like Owl City tried to pick up a guitar.
-
no actually you've just described owl city live

I find Age of Adz incredibly boring. It would be like watching a monkey play with itself: perhaps shocking and mildly amusing at first, but after a while there's just no interest.
Of course, after actually listening to "Biting Your Tail" it's pretty much the same way. I really like "Walking Far from Home," though.

Only a new EP was posted with 3 songs from the album. So yeah, you did kinda grab the wrong thing.
-
Mostly I meant I thought it was simply not Iron and Wine, but the three track aspect of what was posted in the thread was also suspect.

I'm just going to wait for a while. Maybe the new sound will grow on me. Like Sufjan's new album. Or maybe it'll never grow on me and one of my favorite artists is "ruined".

Lol, you're not alone in this. I couldn't believe it was the same artist.

I came a round to it - Walking far from home is so close to being a load of dreadful singersongwritery rubbish but somehow he pulls it off - it's great.
sadly I played the other two new tracks first and they do, pretty much, suck it, the saxophone is especially out of place and while
walking... has won me over, I'm quite concerned about the new record, I'm pretty sure the shepherd's dog is my least favourite of his.
oh Hi there! I just came out of my lurking closet and that
be nice or i'll go back - it's comfy in there
