i know i say this every year, but ladies who participated in april fool's day pranking this year: i really hope you didn't just tell your boyfriend/friends you were pregnant. i'm sorry to say this but the pregnancy scare is seriously the lamest, most hackneyed and predictable one in the book. it honestly makes me a little bit mad even! it's just so disappointingly unoriginal. be creative, there's more to you than your uterus.

i work in a gymnastics center and i was thinking about putting up signs that say something like "notice: all tuition costs have tripled! sorry for the inconvenience"

i think it would backfire though, the people around here are fucking idiots, so i don't particularly wanna bother and have it be a pain in the ass. i have enough shit to do today without adding to it

Yeah my cousin pulled the "I'm pregnant and engaged!" thing on facebook, only all of her 17 year old high school friends are taking it seriously and that's the part that I find funny. What's really disappointing is that she goes to like a special acting school because her dad is rich, guess it isn't doing her any good.

The eldest daughter here wrote a letter purporting to be from her school saying that she was doing so badly in maths that she needed to be moved down a class - printed it out, put it in an envelope and addressed it as a school would, then "brought it home" today and her mum was completely taken in. I was impressed at the sophistication, she's only eleven.




Oh and incidentally, what is a manly sense of responsibility? Is that a sense of responsibility that's only activated when it slaps you in the face?

during my second year of university, me and my (lesbian) housemate tricked my friends into thinking we had hooked up. the best part about this particular plan (we thought) was that the two of us actually built it up progressively for a full month - we each deliberately told our most gossipy friend about it in a really secretive way at the beginning of march and waited for the rumour to spread, then spent the next several weeks playing through all these really elaborate, dramatic, complete fake little stories, including a "panic attack" i had about my sexuality and my housemate not knowing what to do because she really loved me and me getting mad and not speaking to her and her wanting to kick me out of the house and so on and so forth. then on april 1st we publicly revealed to everyone that the entire thing had been an act, at which point the phrase "hell hath no fury" becomes probably the most appropriate descriptor for our friends' reactions. totally worth it.

oh hey it just occurred to me how to save this lame thread! everybody share your april fool's pranks! duh.

My housemate told her mother that her long-term boyfriend asked her to marry him.
That is the meanest thing to do to a mother! Poor lady.

The only thing that happened in my world is that the IT dept went around early in the morning and put post-its over everyone's mouse laser. We then hatched a conspiracy to put as many IT requests as possible into the system, complaining that our mouses didn't work.

My roommates sent out an email with a slideshow from a wedding announcement website saying that SURPRISE! WE'RE STILL NOT GETTING MARRIED!

i kept holding my breath thinking she was gonna say "april fools, dick, i'm still a bitch!" but she didn't


she still had that disgusting look of condecension on her dumb face but at least her words were sort of polite

The media relations lady at work actually did the best one I have seen in a while.  Our opposition leader here in Aus (Tony Abbott) is really staunchly opposed to doing anything about global warming, due to it having an impact on business.  He even showed up to an anti-Carbon Tax rally and gave a speech telling people he supported them, etc.

We work at a renewable energy company, so the Carbon Tax (CPRS) is a pretty big deal to us.  In the morning's media wrap the lady sent around a pdf titled something like "Abbott approves CPRS and calls for party to join support" and when you opened up the pdf it just said "Think April 1st."  Considering what it would mean to our company it was a good way to do it.  Give people that little burst of incredulity without stringing them along.

Ok, so my original phrasing for this was "but I think it's jail time" or something, but I changed it because I figured it was too close to this recent Nedroid comic (http://nedroid.com/2011/03/pinch-me/). Anyway, today I check those comics and he makes that joke anyway! (http://nedroid.com/2011/04/wont-get-fooled-again/). Maybe I should just not worry so much about whether I am plagiarising jokes.
