Title: Can someone explain Sigur Ros' "Inni" thing to me?
Post by: valley_parade on 12 Aug 2011, 05:54
Every time I click on the link in the email they sent me, or go to a blog talking about it, the page gets automatically redirected to a p4k article about Kanye West.

Has anyone actually SEEN the video? I heard the hiatus is over..new material?

Watch the video here: http://www.sigur-ros.co.uk/

It's a new concert DVD. They're also working on a new album, it's partially recorded and Daniel Bjarnanson is arranging the strings which is a very good thing. Even if the album largely disappoints, that part is guaranteed to be great.

Oh wow. Bjarnanson's last album was really good. Can't wait.

Yeah, Bjarnanson's "Processions" was my "Best Album of 2010" on my blog and his recent piece "Music for Solaris" performed at Lincoln Center was terrific. He's a really exciting composer so I hope he brings some interesting things to the table. If I remember correctly - and I may not since I haven't listened to it in ages - the strings on the previous Sigur Ros album whose name I'm not even going to attempt were more or less forgettable so here's to a change of pace!

The strings on their past albums were done by Amina, one of whom is married to one of the dudes in Sigur Ros.

I didn't think they arranged the strings, I just thought they played them. I'm assuming they'll be playing the strings on the new album too, at least as the primary quartet. They have on all the previous albums. But maybe you're right, I've seen Amiina live on their own a handful of times and I know they do all their own arranging when it's just them.

Now that I think about it though, Kjartan Sviensson composes classical stuff on the side, wouldn't surprise me if he did the strings on their past work.
