Year three at least for this totally essential thread. What releases are coming out this year that you're really excited for? I, for one, am looking forward to the new Sigur Ros album. Granted, I haven't listened to the band in a couple of years at least and I really didn't think much of their most recent album BUT this new one sounds like it'll be a return to form of sorts. Pitchfork has the tracklisting and a video for one of the songs: http://pitchfork.com/news/45911-sigur-ros-announce-new-album/ which sounds pretty lovely.
And the new Mount Eerie sounds pretty rad too: http://soundcloud.com/forcefieldpr/mount-eerie-house-shape

Yeah, that new Sigur Ros song is all kinds of beautiful. Glad to see them back on the horse.
I need to pre-order this when I get paid Friday, but there is an absolutely killer pop-punk compilation being put out in May called The Thing That Ate Larry Livermore.
I'm still on the fence about the new Neil Young/Crazy Horse album. It's rad to see them working again, but I was really hoping for new material, rather than re-worked folk songs.
-
And speaking of The Thing That Ate Larry Livermore, The Dopamines have a new album out sometime this spring.
-
Just. Gonna. Keep. Updating. This. Bitch.

Single in (yeah, like everything else this year) May, new album in June.

The albums I'm most stoked for this year include:
Family Cat's debut album (have you heard their demo (http://familycat.bandcamp.com/)? It's great), A Wilhelm Scream's new album, and Jukebox The Ghost's new album.
-
Diablo Swing Orchestra's third album, Pandora's Piņata, is going to be released May 22 (http://diabloswing.com/).
-
I'm curious to hear the new Santigold album. Of the two songs off it I've heard so far, one okay and the other, less okay.
-
Continuing the new albums in May trend, Silversun Mothergoddamnfucking Pickups!
New song...right about here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DIO43xfij3s).
-
It feels like its been forever since Swoon, need to catch them on a tour for realz.
Also, Mars Volta record came out yesterday, its pretty rad.
Surprisingly, Tenacious D have a new album coming out this year. Not that I'll be very interested, its just fascinating how they keep flogging that dead horse.
-
Best Coast, Bloc Party, Hot Chip, Matthew Dear, Passion Pit, Tame Impala
FUCKING DELTRON EVENT II
possibly Animal Collective
possibly Modest Mouse

I was linked to the album recently and have been so ready for it ever since. I've been loving the recent resurgence of great pop-punk over the past few years.
-
I wish it would surge a little more around here. The Dopamines played a killer show about two years ago in my area, and the only people there were me, my girlfriend, and the other bands playing. :psyduck:

I'll believe that Deltron Event II is actually coming out only when I'm actually listening to it.
And possibly not even then.

Haha, there's more hope than ever! Del and Dan have both said it's coming out this summer and there's a b-side from the record on Youtube. Plus they're starting to show up on festival bills. I understand the skepticism though.

for the enth year in a row since 2008 most antipated albums include wintersuns second album time
also fight like a girl by emilie autumn
-
No word about a new album or anything, but Black Moth Super Rainbow just put out this nugget of laid back bliss:

Rad! I love BMSR so much. I still remember seeing them 5 or 6 years ago opening for Architecture in Helsinki. I had heard of them and heard a couple tunes but not ever paid too much attention. That show blew me away, been a huge fan ever since. I guess they did put out an album fairly recently so I shouldn't be too greedy about expecting a new one anytime soon but damn would that be cool if we got one this year.
-
Tobacco's been doing solo stuff, but the last proper BMSR album was in 2009.
-
Cannot wait for these releases:
Converge
Baroness
Tool (?)
Torche-Harmonicraft
Silversun Pickups (kinda)
The inevitable releases of more solo stuff from Omar Rodriguez-Lopez
Jack White-Blunderbuss
Intronaut
-
New Pelican EP is pretty rad.
-
Silversun Pickups have a new LP dropping in May, kind of forgot about them but excited nonetheless. Hope it builds on the strengths of Swoon
-

okay so I'm talking to my friend who just got an advance copy to review (she will not share it, damn her to all hells) and she's listening to it now. some choice quotes from the conversation:
This one song just sounded like some sort of extremely fucked up ballet from a drunken Disney sequence
in a good way
Whoever mixed this album knew what they were doing
Everything sounds crystal clear and audible, even when it gets really loud and (as DSO are wont to be) incredibly brassy
The last minute of the final song? Breakcore.
DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA HOW EXCITED I AM?
-
I may be the only one looking forward to it, but A Fine Frenzy has a new CD dropping later this year.

I've listened to this for a week now and I'm fluctuating between calling it the worst album ever or the best album ever based on the fact that it is the SAME song over and over but it's also a very good/fun/perfect for summer song.
If Rachmaninoff tried to pull this off, he'd call it "Variations on a theme of beers, shots, sunshine, and almost sleeping with a lot of people," and we'd worship him for it.

Purity Ring's debut album Shrines leaked. It's very good.
-
I don't know if ALoveSupreme even posts on here anymore, but I got the new Joie De Vivre LP in the mail today and it's brilliant.
-
...holy.

Oh man, I thought Joie de Vivre broke up.

Cannot wait for these releases:
Jack White-Blunderbuss
I went into Blunderbuss with almost negative expectations ("this will probably suck, but at least it will be something that is acceptable to play at work that will be better than 'new' Death Cab"), but I was still disappointed. The sticky part for me is that, after seeing It Might Get Loud a doc where Jack White got me completely on board with him as a person, it still didn't make me like any of his studio work. The guy needs to record with a band in a room with just on mic in the middle of them. Otherwise, he sounds too glitzy. Adding any glitz to rock & roll that, in person, sounds like it was scraped from a creek behind a Detroit power plant, kills the vibe. #butiamobviouslywrongbecauseallmyearnestfriendswithbettertasteareLOVINGthisalbum

Oh man, I thought Joie de Vivre broke up.
It didn't last very long!
-
You may have to sign up on the site (which totally sucks, oh man now you get access to some cool remixes and mixtapes they did), but um...
The Avalanches just released a demo for the new album.
Yup. (http://www.theavalanches.com/music/A%20Cowboy%20Overflow%20Of%20The%20Heart%20(Avs%20DCB%20Demo%201).mp3)

Apparently Cloudkicker came out with a new album this month and it's really good.
