Hi everyone. Just thought I would check in here before going deeper into the threads. I've never really joined a forum before, didn't see much point. This one seems a little nicer and more well ordered despite its idiosyncrasies, so I thought I would give it a shot. I read a lot of web-comics, but QC is one of my very favorites. This is partially because Jeph updates so frequently, but also because reading and rereading the archives makes me feel safe. In any case, I look forward both to getting to know the people of this forum and to discussing the comic. (If someone could direct me to any threads discussing broader themes in the comic, I would be much obliged. Thanks.

I'd just quickly lurk a few of the topics at the top of the comic section. I'd also advise reading through the ground rules for Claire and Trans discussion before setting something off by accident. (It's sticky-ed in this subforum)

Thanks. I understand that there are a lot of sensitive topics here. I prize frank and honest discussion, but it's always important to express ideas in a compassionate and tactful way. My interests in QC are more philosophical than anything else, so perhaps chatter is the best place for me. The weekly thread is entertaining, but since I have faith in Jeph's vision for his story, the day to day minutiae doesn't bother me that much. Thanks again for the welcome.

Welcome! I suggest you simply click around the forum topics, noting that the comic is indeed discussed under that heading in the top menu, and that a wide range of topics is covered under Other Fun Things.

Also, I'm curious - what is it that makes your interest in QC "philosophical", is it merely that you are a student of philosophy, or that there are no practical applications?
