Tai strikes me as a dog person.
Sooner or later she'll be tired of stroking pussy. :-D
Does Tai have the responsibility and sustained attention to take care of a dog?
It's the cats and dogs that are strangers to one another that don't get along. If someone with a cat gets a young enough dog (puppy!), it will learn that the cat is (the boss and) not a toy, and the cat will learn that the dog is no danger, and they'll work out.Or the cat decides that he actually LIKES getting dragged around by a dog that only grew up to twice his size, and will happily just sit there while he's getting dragged all over the house. As my mom found out when she got a miniature Australian shepherd, that stopped growing right at the toy/mini line.
Should we recognise all these dogs? Shebly is there of course, but some of the others look familiar...
If anyone should get a dog, I think it should be one of the AIs.
Actually, I think the real question is should a Dog adopt one of the Characters.
I forget the title but there's an Arthur Clarke story where the sole telepath on the alien ship makes contact with the minds of the dominant life form on Earth, reading their thoughts about how to manipulate humans by flattery and puppy dog eyes.
Does the story end with the telepath's suspicions silenced when he dies in a tragic "accident" tripped by a dog?
OK. That's the one I remember, then. My memory usually doesn't screw up author attributions that badly ...

Two there should be; no more, no less. One to embody power, the other to crave it.
