I've known this was coming for a while because my son is a big Lego fan. Lego has made some entertaining videos and TV series, so this may turn out to be something other than a complete disaster.

I do know that I am very likely to see it on its opening weekend. My wife has already told me it's going to be a father-son outing. Meaning she isn't going.  :-D

So my son and I saw this movie this afternoon, and it's better than it has any right to be. I mean, a movie about plastic bricks released in February, the traditional dumping ground for bad movies? But it's actually pretty good. Think Toy Story meets The Matrix and you'll be in the right ballpark.

It's an amazing movie. I can't count how many times I cracked up. I now want a Uni-Kitty

A fun game to play: spot the voice

The set is only $20, $15 right now, and I'm really waffling over if I want to get it or not

Wait, that's a Lego set? But you can only build one thing with it!

So now you have your Unikitty and a Mr. Snail. What's not to like?

...Why does the snail have eyes on his head?

Because putting the eyes on his butt would have been weird.

Neither of those places is where snails actually have eyes.

My son actually won advanced screening tickets, so I took him and his brother to see it last weekend.  I gotta say, I was pleasantly surprised.  I'm not a Will Ferrell fan, and I thought he did a great job in his roles.  The story was pretty simple, but fun.  My kids loved the movie, and I definitely found myself laughing throughout the movie pretty often.

I was very impressed with what they did, and I'll definitely be buying it on bluray when it comes out.  Great stuff.

Saw it last night... it was laugh-out-loud funny throughout, albeit a little too well-adapted to the post-spongebob generation in terms of pacing, cuts etc. Some of the best animated movies work for both kids and adults, and this one did, but the kid-friendly writing was geared especially towards younger kids. Doesn't matter. It was a blast and the last 30 mins of the movie were just perfect. On the way home we kept overhearing little snippets of conversation about people's lego-memories. This is a movie that really connects with its audience :)

I love this film. I've seen it twice. I intend to watch it again before it leaves the cinemas. It's so much fun.

I'm buying it as soon as it comes out. (Unless it has already, then I need to go get it.) Also I convinced someone to watch it by playing them Batman's song.
