Hello.
I actually do blog ..sorta.
I've got it buried in a fan site for my favorite hobby.
I've had it up and running for 2 years and 250 posts.

My main blog at the moment is my cooking blog, Faint with Hunger (http://faintwithhunger.wordpress.com/), although posting comes in waves. I've also got a personal blog which I think is pretty boring unless you're a real-life friend or family member of mine (and probably even then); it's linked from the food blog.

I have blogs, but they're more of the typical tumblr blogs.
I have a blog that's just for photos I find pretty/soothing to look at and quotes, poems, prose that appeals to me.

The last one is for the more "twisted" side of me. The only reason I have a specific blog for it is because I feel it doesn't fit with the "theme" of my other blogs. Also, this one has music that plays automatically. I did that because I don't really get many views on that blog, and so I wanted to have something I can just open when I feel like listening to some of that music.

Well, what's the "normal" frequency in which one should update a blog? I know the word "blog" makes me thing of a daily status-update-like thing, but I only update when I have something to update, since mine has a specific purpose.

One thing I learned doing journalism at university was Search Engine Optimisation - basically, make sure people find your blog.
My blog was originally named The Madcap Laughs after Syd Barrett's solo record, but of course, if you Google The Madcap Laughs, you find Syd Barrett's solo record...
But I kept it as that name until I could think of something no one else was using. Then coincidentally a few weeks later my dad told me that my great-grandfather, a big fan of choral and classical music, used to complain about jazz and bebop and such using percussion, saying, and I quote, 'Do they have to use drums?'
Music related... check... no one else on the internet has it... check... personal significance... check.
And if you Google 'do they have to use drums?' my blog comes up top.

I've basically stopped updating either of my blogs. I think a contributing factor was the fact that someone I know in real life but don't particularly like (I don't dislike him per se, he's just not very socially adept and makes me uncomfortable) told me that he'd found my blog and suddenly I felt weird about updating it when I knew he might be reading it. I realise that's daft since it's a public blog and anyone might be reading, but there it is.
