I am so addicted to this show. I had my doubts at first, but once I started watching it, I was super pleased.
Also not going to lie, I literally burst out, "About fucking time," when Spacey shoved Mara in front of that train. I don't know what it is, but I can't stand watching her. She was super annoying in American Horror Story.
So what's next? Season 3's already been confirmed, but does Frank have anywhere to go? I'm pretty sure it's more than two years into the term, so he could be reelected twice, but he has nowhere left to go. He's reached the top...hasn't he?
Well, who's watched season 3? I just finished tonight.
So I thought they'd finish it in three seasons, but there's clearly going to be a season four.

If they follow the same theme as the books: then season 3 will be about his near-downfall (at the hands of his own son-in-law) and his deification via assassination.

But he doesn't have a son-in-law in the US series. Granted I've only watched the first four episodes, so I could be wrong.
I was very confused with the little interaction at the end of the first episode.
Claire: Do this thing!
Frank: Yeah, ok.
Claire: Ermergerd...
Frank: Want some PBJ?
Claire: I'm not hungry.
Frank: *leaves kitchen*
Claire: *almost pukes in the sink and then proceeds to cook some eggs*
Did anyone else get confused by that? Really? Eggs? And then staring at them like, "I'ma eat the fuck out of these eggs," after saying she's not hungry and then dry heaving. Maybe this makes sense later or maybe it doesn't, but I am confused for now.
Finished the season. (Yaaay weekend days full of nothing.) The eggs thing makes a lot of sense, now.
Also if someone like Dunbar ran, I'd have a hard time not voting for her. Damn she can give a good debate.
Honestly, Dunbar finally giving in and trying to buy the journal was kind of heartbreaking.

I just finished and can participate in this discussion now.
I enjoyed Frank's very genuine disappointment at her doing that, too.
I was just thinking - Frank gave very specific instructions to Heather Dunbar to leave Stamper alone or he would "put [her] in [her] fucking fucking grave." Considering her later attempt to get the journal from him, I'm now really curious about what will happen next season. Frank does not seem like the type to make that threat figuratively.
Wait, I could've sworn he made that threat after Doug came to him with the journal, and therefore after she did that.
It was before. The first time was when he showed up drunk because Rachel was presumed dead. When showed up with the journal, he was sober again.
Edit because my phone worded that badly.
I have been binging and I am definitely enjoying this season. I'm not quite done yet, but I'll get there soon.
Not spoiler-ish comment: Stamper continues to give me the creeps. He's just so weird.
I feel like Conway is the Republican Obama. Not so much in politics, but in public likability, use of social media to gain supporters, and how he emphasizes his family. I definitely feel like they based part of his character off of the current POTUS.
Also I am very disappointed in the fact that this show's Republican candidate is much more reasonable than the real current Rep candidates. Seriously. It's sad when fiction makes reality look that bad.
I wasn't a huge fan of Season 3 for a lot of reasons. It was less about Frank the sociopathic evil badass and more about the politics of the White House, although there were some good moments. But in context (and granted I have a few episodes left to go) I think Season 3 was worth it because it was the set-up required for a much better season.
Also...
"You a motherfucker, Mr. President" has to be the top line of this season.
Started S4. First episode ended so strongly. Now I'm excited for what's to come.
Loved Ellen Burstyn! Although I'm not looking forward to Lucas - never liked how whiny he was.
Ohhhhhhhhh just you wait.
I'm at the point where Frank is imagining walking through the woods with the soldier and hears shooting. I don't know what'll happen but I need to find out and it's seven in the morning and I have to get up at nine
The end of Chapter 45. Francis is back in office and Claire hovers above him, Francis looks straight into camera. Does he know how much the shot helped him get out of the situation he was in? Does he know the real fight (with Claire) has taken a new form, whatever his next plans with her may be?
And goddamnit, they have a new opening credits song playing IN THE CREDITS. What?!
Yeah I'm super late to the party but this series is plain amazing.
